How to get there

You will have to get to the resort by checkpoints, since the nearest airports are located in the cities of Varna (95 km) and Burgas (42 km), this must be taken into account when planning the route. As a rule, when traveling through travel agencies, the transfer to the destination is already included in the price of the voucher. If you are going to rest on your own, it is better to know in advance how to make it more convenient and profitable.

The best option is a transfer from Burgas, as it is located closer to other cities. You can also use the transit through Varna, but the road will cost significantly more due to the greater length of the path.

The easiest way to get to Burgas from Ukraine is by bus - regular flights depart from Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov. You can also go from Kiev by train to Varna.

The easiest way to get from Moscow is by plane to Burgas airport with a direct flight.

You can get from Burgas airport to Sunny Beach by bus that will take you to the resort's bus station. If you use a taxi, the cost of such a trip will cost three times, and sometimes four times. more expensive than a ticket on the bus. Buses and taxis also run from Varna.

If you want to retire and visit a deserted beach, it is better to go to the nearest seaside towns of Nessebar or Pomorie. You can get to Nessebar on foot or take a boat ride, but in Pomorie you have to go by bus and then walk a little to the beach.

Transport network and car rental

There are no difficulties with transport in Sunny Beach - they regularly run here as internal bus routes running along the coast from Nessebar towards the Elenite resort, and intercity buses from Burgas and Varna, which stop at the resort's bus station.

From the Burgas railway station ("Avtogara Yug") to the central station of Sunny Beach there are buses No. 10 and No. 22 (see the section "By bus"). The stop of the central bus station is right next to railway station Burgas, but from the airport you have to walk about seven minutes to the stop (towards the bridge). Please note that the bus goes to the central bus station of Sunny Beach. If you are coming here for the first time and plan to get there on your own, please check exactly where your hotel is located. For example, to the unofficial center of the resort (hotel and casino "Kuban") you need to drive one stop on any city bus. More difficult to get from Varna. There is also a regular bus from the central bus station to Sunny Beach. The ticket will cost 6 € (12 levs). Travel time will be approximately 2.5 hours. But from the airport you will have to take a taxi, a distance of about 110 kilometers will cost you 50–75 € (100–150 levs).

Tourist shuttles

Vacationers in a large company will like the tourist shuttle or the eight-seater minibus of our minibuses. A ticket for it can be ordered in advance on the official website of the company. . A representative with a sign will meet you at the arrivals area and escort you to the bus. The cost of the trip will be 7 € (14 levs).

I use the bus most often, but if you have to get there at night (city buses run from 6:00 to 20:00), you can't do without a taxi.

Remember that in order to travel on the bus, money in local currency must be prepared in advance, as it will not work to pay in euros, dollars or rubles. Tested by personal experience, Bulgarian conductors are adamant. Change some leva in advance for the trip.

By car

By taxi

The easiest way to get to Sunny Beach by car is to take a taxi. For example, from Burgas, if you arrived there. But here I advise you to be very careful, as the greed of local "bombers" can go off scale all conceivable limits.

The average price for the journey to the resort of 36 kilometers on the way should NOT be higher than 20 € in the high season (July - August). Believe me, taxi drivers will demand 30 €, 50 €, and even 100 € (when they see that you are not in the subject). Do not go on about such dishonest manipulations, demand adequate cost.

Nuance: knowledgeable people are not too lazy to walk to the bus stop (see its location above), which is located near the airport, where a taxi will cost much less.

You can negotiate with the driver for 5-10 € (10-20 leva) if you are traveling with several more people. I think that such savings will not hurt for single tourists or couples.

By private car

Fans of their own "steering wheel" on arrival in Bulgaria can rent a car at the airport. In the arrivals hall there are representatives of the companies, they are located on the left in the direction of travel. Often on the streets of the resort you can find cars with Russian numbers. Vacationers who plan to stay here for a long time (from two weeks) come to Sunny Beach, having overcome more than 3,000 kilometers. Now all possible routes pass bypassing Ukraine, so such a trip has become much longer and, accordingly, more expensive.

This large Bulgarian resort is noisy day and night. It seems that people do not sleep here, but hang out around the clock! Children frolic on trampolines, take pictures with colorful parrots, braid pigtails, women bask in the hands of caring masseurs and try on new looks in shopping centers, men appreciate local beer, snacking on it with fish, sometimes caught with their own hands. In a word, everyone here finds joy to their taste and gives themselves up to rest to the fullest. Of course, summer is the season of the resort glory of Sunny Beach.

In September-October, the tourist flow decreases, which means that vacationers will be able to save money by coming to the coast in early autumn. Accommodation and tickets become 5% cheaper. Prices for fruits and vegetables are 15–20% lower. At the same time, the quality of the beach holiday remains unchanged. Except for one small "but". In September, the weather from time to time begins to present surprises: you are going to the beach in the morning, leave the house, and then the rain started falling.

True, they say that autumn in Bulgaria begins only on September 15, which means that until that time all the cloudy weather is short-lived, and the sun still prevails in the sky. The temperature remains comfortable for walking and swimming: the air warms up to +27 ° C, water up to + 21-23 ° C.

There are fewer tourists, the summer hustle and bustle subsides, and a calmer atmosphere reigns in bars and clubs. The flip side of the coin will be that at the end of September, most establishments are closed.

As for me, I specially came to Sunny Beach in the summer, and then stayed here for the fall to see with my own eyes how the giant resort is gradually dying out: one after another restaurants, bars, ice cream tents are closed, trampolines are blown off and removed, it turns off until next year, water in the slides of large water parks. On the one hand, the streets are quieter, but on the other, you witness a sad sight, as if a huge monster is hibernating in front of your eyes.

Personal advice: while vacationing in Sunny Beach in autumn, plan a cultural program. Autumn gives you the opportunity to enjoy leisurely day walks to the neighboring villages: Kosharitsa, Tynkovo, Ravda, and Nessebar. We wrote about the last town.

Sunny Beach has been dying out since November. Most shops and restaurants are tightly closed until summer. Arriving here, you run the risk of sharing your spa community only with cats and dogs that live here all year round. Seriously, the air temperature during these months can hardly be called comfortable: from + 15 ° C to 0 ° C, a strong piercing wind often blows from the sea during this period. Do you need it? No entertainment, except for a walk in a warm jacket and a hat with earflaps along the deserted embankment.

In April - May it is cool in Sunny Beach. The air temperature does not rise above +20 ° C, but everything begins to bloom and blossom beautifully.

Bathing season not yet open, but I know people who come here in April to enjoy the purest mountain air, not clouded by the summer heat. So the rest at this time of the year here is more of a cultural and recreational one.

In winter, as you know, the situation in Sunny Beach is even more aggravated than in autumn. There is no longer a smell of the sun, but it gets colder every day. Of the hotels, only those that provide SPA services to their clients work mainly (the number of such hotels is no more than 10%). It would seem that you can do here in winter? Nevertheless, communicating with Russian owners who constantly come here, I was surprised when I heard that some families have a tradition to come to Sunny Beach near New Year in December. There is almost no sun here, so I still did not understand what is the point in such a winter voyage to a summer resort.

Looking at Sunny Beach from a bird's eye view, you will see that on the north side it borders on resort town, and from the south it is adjacent to the new part of the city.

Conventionally, I would divide tourist resort Sunny Beach into three zones:

First line of the sea... These are hundreds of luxury hotels, most of which are not less than 4 *. In my classification it is "Party-goers zone"... On the above map, all hotels located from the sea line to the main street.
Some hotels are right on the beach, so when you go out for breakfast in the morning, you can watch the sunrise ( geographical position Sunny Beach is such that the sunrise is visible on the sea, and sunset in the mountains in the west). The center of Sunny Beach is the area of the "Kuban" hotel.
High white tower with red and blue colors, the inscriptions are visible from almost anywhere along the coast. This is a kind of "navel" of a large resort. Near this place there are shopping malls, the most fashionable and expensive restaurants and nightclubs. In the evenings, they call loudly to the bars and offer a cafe for dinner. Personally, I do not find anything special in this area, a continuous hustle and bustle, but for some reason tourists like to come here from all over the coast, wander through the stalls, pushing each other. In short, "Kuban" is a kind of Arbat, a local symbol. While the "Kuban" hotel is standing, Sunny Beach is still alive.
Second zone Sunny Beach I call "Zone of owners"... These are hotels and apartment complexes located between the main street and the main road to Varna and Burgas.
These are mainly 3 * hotels with their own closed territory, reception, swimming pool and a small restaurant. In most of these hotels, real estate is privately owned by individuals who come to rest themselves or rent out apartments. The distance to the sea is up to one kilometer, this is considered walking distance, but you will have to walk fifteen minutes to the beach.
TO third zone In Sunny Beach, I include streets and villages located more than two kilometers from the sea. I call this part of the resort "Zone of local residents".
There are practically no hotels here. Despite the fact that Sunny Beach is an extremely party place. In this area there are houses, schools and kindergartens, where the few indigenous people of this resort live. There are not many of them, but they are there. Here you can find the cheapest grocery and hardware stores, clothing markets and small cafes where only local people sit. By the way, lovers at all budget vacation if desired, they can agree with the owner and rent a room (not a separate apartment) for 5-7 € (10-15 leva) per day. It can be done . If for you the first place is not the comfort of housing, but the price and desire to see the real Bulgarian life, go to the “zone of local residents”. Having sacrificed everyday comfort, you will see the non-touristy and non-pathetic Sunny Beach. Then you will be proud of yourself.

Like Old Nessebar, Saint Vlas adjoins Sunny Beach, only from the opposite, northern side. I still advise the most sporty tourists who want to gain health and vivid emotions on vacation, try walking there.

The distance is small, from 2 to 5 kilometers from the part of Sunny Beach where you live, but how many emotions!

How to get there

City buses No. 5, 8. Their stops are the same as route No. 1. The fare is 0.75 € and 2 €, respectively (1.5 and 4 levs). The time interval between buses is already longer: if you are not lucky right away, you will have to wait for the next bus about half an hour.
Taxi. The cost can vary from 10 to 50 € (20 to 100 leva) in different taxi fares.
The road by car will take 15–20 minutes from where you are resting.

What to see

The city is mostly located at the foot of Stara Planina. Some houses are located over 100 meters above sea level. Walking the streets of Vlas is not easy: up and down. Comfortable shoes and a panama hat will definitely come in handy here.
Russian speech is heard everywhere: as in Sunny Beach, most of the real estate is privately owned, including Russians. Therefore, if on the streets you meet a young family with a stroller, a sporty-looking pensioner or a fashionably dressed couple, rest assured that they are Russians! But back to the sights:

A huge flag of Bulgaria flutters over the tower, it can be seen from afar. You can get there by the free bus of the water park (which picks up tourists at stops public transport marked with blue arrows).

Every 15–20 minutes a free bus runs to the water park, picking up tourists from city bus stops. This is the most convenient way get to your destination.

On the territory of the water park for the convenience of vacationers there are:

Royal Beach Mall

By the way, this is the only real shopping center on the territory of Sunny Beach. In fact, it occupies the first two floors of the five-star Royal Beach Barcelo Hotel.
Here it is on the map, lost among the hotels closer to the first line of the sea. On the main street, the landmark is the Oasis Hotel and bus stop with the same name (any city bus number goes here).

More than 100 shops, two restaurants, bars, a pastry shop, a bank and a spacious parking lot for 1 € (2 levs) per hour. I will say right away that only in this mall you can buy quality items. There are both well-known brands and Bulgarian ones.

On my own behalf, I recommend to look into the Fetish store, these are quirky things of two Bulgarian designers from Plovdiv at very good prices. Let's say, original design leather shoes will cost only 80 € (150 levs)! But this is completely handmade and unique design. Having come to this store twice, I twice left completely dressed from head to toe! The store will especially appeal to fans of grunge style.

In other stores, prices are different, sometimes you can bargain. Discounts are often available, especially in the second half of August when the season is drawing to a close.
If you buy several expensive items worth more than 500 €, issue Tax Free... At Burgas airport you can get a tax refund up to 20% of the cost.

Even last year, I would say that this is where quality shopping in Sunny Beach ends. But! Discoveries continue: this summer, while wandering around the Kuban Hotel, I came across charming handmade red shoes for only 50 € (109 levs)! So seek and find, as they say.

For those wishing to purchase pink cosmetics on an industrial scale, I recommend delving deeper into the coast and finding a wholesale shop. It is located here.

The landmark is the Kuban hotel, from which you move in the opposite direction from the sea until it stops and turn left until the signboard “Bulgarian Rose”. Warehouse".

Prices there are two times lower than on the coast. And the choice is great! So I recommend not to be lazy.

By the way, the last one. In Sunny Beach, there is not a single, you know, a single decent makeup shop. There are more than enough pink creams and lotions, but you will not find mascara or eye shadow for eyelashes during the day with fire. Inexplicable but the fact.

Sunny Beach is famous for its nightlife and therefore thunders all over Europe. Young people from all over the world come to hang out, meet, talk. All conditions have been created here to forget about problems, worries and surrender to the power of music, alcohol and passion.

The doors of all clubs open in the evening. They work seven days a week.

Dance clubs

Disco Orangе is one of the oldest dance clubs in Sunny Beach.

You can get to it by any of the city buses, reaching the stop "Strandzha". The audience there is mostly foreign, there are a lot of Englishmen. The music is good. Of the minuses: admission is paid for everyone and will cost 15 € (30 levs). Plus drinks that start at € 5.

Popular among young people are the nightclubs Revolution Music Factory and Dance club Mania, Cacao Beach, they can accommodate up to 1,500 people.

It is located on the other side of Sunny Beach near the beach. Geographically, this is the stop of the city bus Hotel "Arda". Six dance halls with different music (including national Bulgarian pop), a chic bar overlooking the sea and free admission for girls until midnight.

Working hours

Clubs open their doors from 22:00. At 00:00, as a rule, the dance floor starts to fill up. The peak is at 2:00. The hall is packed to capacity. The establishments usually close at 5: 00–6: 00. From time to time, the clubs invite DJs from all over the world, you can follow this on posters posted throughout the city, as well as on the websites of holiday destinations.

Rest cost

If the entrance to the club is paid, it costs 3-5 € (from 5 to 10 leva). The ticket price may depend on the number of people in the company. The more people, the cheaper the ticket for one.

If you're interested in clubbing, grab the flyers handed out throughout the day on Central Avenue. Often, as a bonus, you come across a free admission to a particular institution or a cocktail as a gift.

Great music and inexpensive drinks from 3 € create a festive atmosphere.

Gaming Clubs

The gambling business in Sunny Beach is legalized. Here is a paradise for gamers. The resort's most famous casinos are located in hotels. Hotel-casinos Platinum, Kuban, Hrizantema are popular.

They work around the clock and every day. There are several training spots along the coast. Walk up to the beach wherever water activities are offered and you will be prompted for windsurf rentals.

For example, one of these is located on the border of Sunny Beach and St. Vlas (there is a huge four-star Riu hotel).

Price

The equipment for skiing costs 35 € (70 leva) per hour. If you want to hire an instructor, it will cost you an additional 35 € (70 leva). It is worth noting that these prices are lower than in similar resorts in Italy, Spain, Cyprus.

Be sure to try windsurfing, you will love the headwind, the drive of sliding. Children start teaching at the age of 10.

Souvenirs. What to bring as a gift

Coming from vacation, we certainly want to bring our family and friends, and often ourselves, cute souvenirs and nice gifts.

This bus runs every day from 10:00 to 22:00. The time interval between buses is 40 minutes. Depart from the Orange club.

Intercity buses

In addition to municipal buses, there are intercity routes, as well as those running between nearby villages (Kosharitsa, Ravda, Tynkovo). Such routes begin from the bus station ("autogara" in Bulgarian), located in the center of the resort. It can be reached by bus number 1 (stop "Avtogara"):

If you want to go to neighboring Burgas, Varna, Pomorie, Kosharitsa, start from the bus station.

Ticket prices are small:

If you come by car from Russia or another country, you must definitely buy a vignette (pay road tax) during your stay in Bulgaria.

In 2016, the amount of road tax for a passenger car was:

for 1 year - 49 € (97 levs),
for 1 month - 15 € (30 levs),
for 1 week - 7.5 € (15 levs).

You can buy a vignette at any gas station or at a border checkpoint. Observe the traffic rules and be sure to pay for parking, there are practically no free places either in Sunny Beach or in the central part of Burgas or Varna.

Vacation with children

I already wrote that the conditions in the Sunny Beach resort are ideal for coming here with children again and again.

Noisy water parks, inflatable trampolines, pirate ships and even a special children's menu in most restaurants - what the Bulgarians have not come up with to entertain the youngest tourists on this coast!

Action and Nessebar water parks are a must! Here is the real expanse of playfulness and games in the water!

The children's center at the Laguna Park Hotel costs only 10 € per hour, and your child will be attended by professional animators, and parents will be able to relax and be in silence.

S Sunny Beach (in Bulgarian Slanchev Bryag) is one of the oldest and largest resort in Bulgaria. Its construction in 1959 began from the place where there were two old wells, from which the city of Nessebar drew water in the era of antiquity and the Middle Ages. At the time of its foundation, only five hotels were built on the shores of a deserted bay, today there are more than one hundred and forty of them. The construction of hotels to the south of the Khadzhiysk river is underway, the dacha zone is being separated from a family-type bungalow-suite. There are no pure sanatoriums at the resort. Vacationers live in hotels, where they undergo certain procedures on the basis of medical and health centers.

In its very formation, the resort was built for local residents. But, today, it is a recognized international center of recreation and tourism, conveniently located 30 km from the regional center of Burgas, 100 km from Varna and 3 km from the ancient Nessebar.

From Sunny Beach to Nessebar you can take bus number 1, which runs at intervals of 12-15 minutes (6: 00-0: 30 from Nessebar, 6: 00-0: 00 from Sunny Beach), ticket price - 1 lev, travel time - about 15-20 minutes. Tickets are purchased from the conductor on the bus. You can also get to Nessebar and back by bus # 5 (Saint Vlas - Nessebar). But when departing from Nessebar, he makes a stop in a few minutes at the bus station in Sunny Beach. Local bus timetables and routes can be found on the transport company's website. Several times a day, you can get to Burgas and Varna by buses passing through Sunny Beach (the timetable is written at the stops).

The resort complex is certified by the "Blue Flag", which speaks of the cleanliness of the environment and the high level of services provided. Here is held International festival Bulgarian pop song "Golden Orpheus", Decade of symphonic music, part of the International Folklore Festival, fashion revues, various beach competitions.

During the Soviet era, it was a prestigious resort, which many of our compatriots sought to get to. In recent years, the resort began to develop dynamically, and the main new buildings were pushed back to the north. Hotels in the central part of it are mostly renovated old hotels. Sunny Beach is very suitable for families and single tourists, but students love it too.

In addition to various sanatoriums in the resort of Sunny Beach, there are several balneological and medical centers, both therapeutic and prophylactic. Most of them are based on hotels and hotels. Of particular note are two balneological centers fully equipped with the latest equipment, which are located in the Burgas and Globus hotels. These complexes receive guests not only in summer, but throughout the year. Various programs have been developed here to improve immunity, treat nonspecific diseases of the upper respiratory tract and allergies. A rare combination of sea breeze, mountain air from the north and endless eastern horizons created a unique atmosphere in the town. Golden beaches are bounded by natural dunes that follow the shape of the bay in a semicircle. Among the rare vegetation, sixteen species of relict plants grow here. The openness of the resort, on the one hand, contributes to the appearance of cool night breezes, very pleasant after the heat of the day. This unique phenomenon has made Sunny Beach a resort that does not seem to "sleep" at all. During the day, the beaches are filled with vacationers swimming in the warm sea, and at night the central street, which is called the "promenade", which runs along the coast, comes alive with crowds of tourists.

There are a lot of attractions in the vicinity of Sunny Beach. First of all, this is a monument included in the UNESCO lists, the city of Nessebar. It is separated from Sunny Beach by a road several hundred meters away. It is located on a rocky peninsula 850 meters long and 300 meters wide. Today Nessebar is under the auspices of UNESCO and is included in the list of the world cultural heritage... In total, 11 out of 40 Byzantine churches have survived on this tiny peninsula, two of which date from the late 4th - early 5th centuries. There are ethnographic and archaeological museums, small shops are briskly trading, delicious fish are served in restaurants and open-air cafes by the sea.

You can also go on a longer journey - the city of Sozopol, which is absolutely not inferior in beauty to Nessebar. Or visit the reserve Ropotamo and ride on the river of the same name.

In the vicinity of the resort there is a large number of monasteries related to the history of the formation of the Bulgarian state. A few kilometers from Sunny Beach is the field where the Bulgarian Khan Asparukh defeated the Byzantine king, and it was from this territory that the Bulgarians began building lands, their future state. Near the site of this historical battle, near the town of Pomorie, there is the only active male in the southeastern part of Bulgaria. monastery "St. George the Victorious" built in the 7th century on the site of a Thracian sanctuary. Action Aquapark - large park water attractions located in the western part of Sunny Beach Complex.
