Fort Siloso

Cable car

How to get to Sentosa Island
There are four different ways to get to Sentosa Island from Singapore Island.
The first is the method already described above, the most expensive of all, namely the Cable Car.
The second and cheapest way is on foot. Moreover, it is not long at all, from the island to Singapore it is only about five hundred meters. However, visitors are still charged $1 for entering the island.
Pedestrian the road goes parallel to the road bridge, through which you can get to Sentosa by bus or car. Bus route numbers going to the island are No. 65, 80, 93, 188, 855, 10, 30, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145, 166.
And the last way is the monorail. Sentosa Express will take everyone to the island from Vivo City Shopping Center on Singapore's waterfront. The first carriages begin to run along their route as early as 7 am, and the cost of the trip is $4 per person.

A little history of Sentosa Island.
The modern name Sentosa, received in 1972, translated from Malay means “peace of tranquility”, although the island can hardly be called calm. A vibrant and at the same time thriving nightlife - all this makes the island popular and attractive to many tourists.
Once upon a time, the island had a completely different reputation and name. It was called "the land after death" or in the original Pulau Belakang Mati. There are several versions of why this happened. According to one of them, pirates buried their numerous victims on this island; according to another, in the 19th century a huge number of people died on it due to an epidemic. In any of these cases, the island was still associated with the afterlife. The next stage in the life of the island turned out to be the most ordinary, it was a simple fishing village.
However, a little later, thanks to their efforts, the British transferred it to a system of fortifications, which subsequently played a huge role in the Second World War. And only many years later, in 1972, the island turned into a resort. And today Sentosa is a favorite place for many residents of megacities and tourists for an unforgettable vacation.
How to get to the island?
2. The second way is to get there by monorail. The fare is three Singapore dollars including entry to the island. Opening hours are from 7 a.m. to midnight. To do this, you need to go to the Sentosa Express Monorail pier near HarbourFront and board it. After passing three stops, you will find yourself at your destination.
3. The third method and, perhaps, the most expensive cable car is the Cable car. Despite this, it is one of the favorite methods among tourists, even a little outlandish, but the high price is more than compensated for beautiful view from the window. To enjoy the beautiful views of Sentosa from above, you can simply board the cable car at Mount Faber or HarbourFront every day from 8.45 to 22.00. The prices for the trip are as follows: in both directions you will have to pay 26 Singapore dollars for an adult, and 15 for a child. In one direction, for an adult, 25 dollars, and 14 for a child. The price includes entrance to the island.
4. By car. Not the best convenient way, since for each person in the car you will have to pay a fee of 10 dollars when entering the island. The Sentosa authorities also charge a fee for the entry of vehicles. You can leave your car only in specially equipped parking lots on the island.
5. By bus. To try out the bus option, you'll first need to get to HarbourFront station. The starting point of the bus to Sentosa is HarbourFront Centre.

How to get to Sentosa
There are several ways to get to the island from the capital Singapore.
Metro
Take the North East Line and get off at HarbourFront. Next, you can get to Sentosa on foot or by monorail, after going up to the third level of the VivoCity shopping center. A more expensive way is the cable car.

Sentosa Boardwalk is a multi-level pedestrian road connecting Sentosa and Singapore. It runs parallel to the bridge over which cars travel from island to island, and consists of two parts. 1.2 Oceanarium S.E.A. Aquarium
S.E.A. Aquarium is one of the largest and richest aquariums in all of Asia. Mishutka and I have been to aquariums in both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, but Singapore is undoubtedly the most beautiful and diverse. Here you go on a journey through different seas of the planet, observing their inhabitants, reading information about certain places. Of course, there are huge aquariums the size of a multi-storey building and underwater tunnels, when sharks swim imposingly above your heads.

1.3 Adventure Cove Waterpark
The wonderful Adventure Cove Waterpark is located on the territory of the aquarium, but tickets for it must be purchased separately. At the Adventure Bay water park, both adults and children will happily ride a wide variety of water slides, swim with stingrays, watch shows, and enjoy many other entertainments.
But my advice is to go early in the morning so that there are no crowds of people, because the pleasure will not be the same if you have to elbow your way through the water. When planning a vacation, I recommend setting aside at least 2 hours for the park.

1.4 Sentosa CineBlast
The wonderful CineBlast attraction allows you to be transported to a new dimension. In some ways, this attraction is similar to Transformers at the Universal amusement park. There you also get into a kind of car and go to virtual trip.

If you decide to go to S.E.A. Aquarium, then you definitely won’t pass by the Maritime Experiential Museum, which is located in the aquarium building. 3. Shows and performances
Surprisingly, every evening in the evenings spectacular light shows take place in different parts of Sentosa Island. 3.1 Show Wings of Time
Wings of Time is one of the newest shows on Sentosa Island. There is an observation deck on Siloso beach. The stage itself is located right in the sea. A wonderful story about time travel, which is shown with laser beams on a screen made of tiny splashes of water.
Together with the heroes on a magic bird, you will go on a journey to the Mayan pyramids, in ancient Europe, to the underwater world and to the deserts of Africa. In general, you are guaranteed an interesting virtual walk. A very spectacular performance!

3.3 Show “Crane Dance”
One of the most beautiful and soulful light shows in Singapore. It’s interesting that when translated from English, “crane” means both a crane and a crane (the one for construction), and the creators of the show apparently decided to play with this word in both variations, because the cranes are really made from peculiar cranes. 4. Animal world

5.3 Fort Siloso
Fort Siloso is included in the attractions of Sentosa and is one of the few historical monuments that remained in Singapore from past times. This fortress once served as a military base for the British, who protected their lands as colonialists.

5.4 Southernmost point of continental Asia
According to Singaporeans, Southernmost Point of Continental Asia is the southernmost point of continental Asia. Several years ago I was at the very edge of India - in Kanyakumari, when there was only a huge Indian Ocean, and behind us is the whole of Eurasia. The feeling is indescribable! There is still no such feeling in Sentosa =) And personally, I still would not call this place the southernmost point of continental Asia. If only because Sentosa is already an island, and not part of the continent, and Singapore itself is also an island, although it is separated from Eurasia by only a narrow strait.
Officially, the southern cape of our huge continent is Cape Piai, located in neighboring Malaysia, very close to the border with Singapore. However, Southernmost Point of Continental Asia is a very beautiful and well-kept place where it’s just nice to sit and look at the sea. But there’s definitely no need to study geography with children here;)

How to get to Sentosa
1. Mount Faber Line cable car to Sentosa
The Mount Faber Line cable car goes in a circle from the metro station: Harbor Front - Mount Faber - Harbor Front - Sentosa - Harbor Front. At each station you can get off, take a walk and move on. You can also start your journey in the opposite direction, i.e. from Sentosa Island.

How to find: exit the Harbor Front metro station and follow the signs to the Cable Car station, pass through shopping mall Harbor front, a little down the street and we get to the ticket office, buy a ticket, take the elevator to the 15th floor and take the cable car to Sentosa.

Sentosa can be reached by monorail - Sentosa Express. The Sentosa Express monorail station on the mainland is located at VivoCity Shopping Centre, Lobby L, Level 3 (easy to find by signs).
There are 3 monorail stations on Sentosa Island:

3. Walk to Sentosa
You can get to Sentosa on foot. But don’t worry, it’s a very short walk :) When I read that you can walk to Sentosa across the bridge, I imagined long-long bridge from the mainland to the island, and when I told Lesha that we would go to Sentosa on foot, he was horrified :) In fact, the island is very close and the walk is about 10-15 minutes!
You need to get to Harbor Front MRT Station and then follow the signs for Sentosa Board Walk through VivoCity Shopping Centre.
Directions to find the Sentosa Express Monorail to Sentosa and the Board Walk There are moving escalators on the bridge, so the entire journey is easy.

How to get to Sentosa is up to you. We decided to go to the island on foot (not because of saving money, it was just interesting to walk along the bridge and photograph the views), and when we returned back in the evening we were already so tired that we decided to take the monorail. Although the night illumination of the city and the island from the bridge looks tempting :)
Morning leisurely walk along the bridge from the metro to Sentosa. Almost there :) By the way, at about seven in the evening there are huge queues for the cable car and monorail! We weren’t in a hurry, we watched the Crane Show at 20:00, then had a delicious dimsum dinner at a restaurant and left Sentosa without any crowds on the monorail at half past nine in the evening.
