Photo 1. One of the seven natural wonders of the world - Iguazu Falls [wallpapersshop.net]

Iguassu Falls is a complex of 270 waterfalls located on the Iguassu River on the border of Brazil and Argentina. The largest waterfall is the Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo). The width of the complex is 2700 meters, and the width of the fall at most of the waterfalls is about 60 meters. In 2011, Iguazu Falls were recognized as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Waterfalls are some of the amazing natural creations. Everyone who sees this magnificent dynamic phenomenon, it leaves an indelible impression.

In this article, we will present some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

What are the most beautiful waterfalls in the world?

Waterfalls are among those natural wonders that are both impressive and awe-inspiring. This is a kind of demonstration of luxury, grandeur and, of course, the incredible power of nature. There are a huge number of natural waterfalls in the world, differing in size, shape and beauty.

The most beautiful waterfalls on the planet are scattered in many parts of the world, and all of them cannot be described in one article. The most beautiful waterfalls are found in Iceland, USA, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Zambia, India, Angola, Ethiopia and many other countries. And it is impossible to choose the best among them - they are all good in their own way. Below is information about some of them - the most notable.

Angel

This natural wonder is located in Venezuela. Angel is not only the most beautiful waterfall, but also the highest in the entire world (979 meters). But its peculiarity is not only in its beauty and size (there are a huge number of high cascades), but in its form.

These powerful streams of water originate from Mount Auyantepui, which has steep slopes and a wide flat top. The waterfall is one of the most dynamic types.

Niagara

To the question of which waterfall is the most beautiful in the world, many people immediately think of the answer - Niagara. It can be called the most famous - its amazing views on both sides of it are recognizable to everyone. Its peculiarity is also that it forms the border between 2 countries: Canada and the United States.

Its height is 53 meters.

Skogafoss

Among the most beautiful waterfalls in the world is the unusual cascade, which is located in Iceland, recognized as a paradise of wonderful waterfalls. Skogafoss is not only beautiful, but also the smoothest of the entire list.

Its waters fall from a 60-meter height surprisingly smoothly in the form of an even rectangle, which is 25 meters wide. This is due to the fact that there are no mountain ranges or rocks that prevent the fall of powerful water flows.

Huangoshu

The most famous waterfall located in China is Huangoshu. This is one of the rarest cases when the water cascade is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. It is surrounded by a large amount of vegetation.

The width of the waterfall is 81 meters, and the height is 74 meters. This miraculous creation is considered the largest and most beautiful waterfall in China, but it is also the largest in all of Asia.

Gullfoss

In the kingdom of endless waterfalls, in Iceland, there is one unusual, powerful and strong waterfall that falls into a huge crevice. The height of the cascade, consisting of two steps, is 32 meters (21 and 11 m, respectively), and the width is 20 m.

Gullfoss from Icelandic translates as "golden waterfall". It belongs to the most famous natural attractions of the state.

Kaieteur

Kaieteur is located in Guyana (west of the state) on the Potaro River, near the border with Venezuela. Its height is more than 221 meters (this is almost 5 times higher than Niagara), its width is about 100 m. Almost all the time it is surrounded by a cloud of fog, and a powerful stream of water here emits a powerful roar.

This waterfall, which inspires a certain fear and is mystical, is not inferior to the famous Niagara and Iguazu, therefore, it is worthy of inclusion in the lists of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

Victoria

The famous waterfall is located in Zambia. Its width is 1700 meters, and its height is 104 meters. This is the largest stream of continuously falling water on the entire Earth.

The local name for this miracle of nature is Mosi-Oa-Tunya (translated as “the smoke that thunders”). Like Niagara, Victoria is part of the border between the two states. These are Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Iguazu

Such a fabulous sight can only be seen here. Iguazu can be called the mother of all waterfalls. It is located on the border between 2 countries: Brazil and Argentina. This is a place of unique and fantastic beauty. Iguazu is a series of quite impressive waterfalls. Each of them has a height of over 64 meters, the tallest of which reaches 82 meters.

This magnificent natural creation symbolizes true power.

Yosemite

One of the most beautiful waterfalls is this magnificent natural wonder. Yosemite is an incredibly high (739 meters) and beautiful waterfall located in the United States. It looks like the highest Angel, with no less magnificent landscapes and the roar of a powerful water cascade.

The waterfall is located in the protected National Park.

Detian

There is another waterfall in China that serves as an excellent option for forming the border between countries, like some of the above. Although Detian is not as large as many other powerful streams, it is still impressive enough to become part of the border between Vietnam and China.

Its width is 80 meters, and masses of water fall from a height of 50 meters along three cascades. This waterfall has the most picturesque environment, which looks unique and fabulous.

Yew Issat

The Issat Falls are located on the longest river in the planet Nile. In the dry season, due to the location of the hydroelectric dam on the river, the water flows dry up.

During the rainy season, you can see an impressive picture here - a falling wall of water up to 400 meters wide. Powerful streams flow down from a height of 37-45 meters. During this period, it appears to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls surrounded by a magnificent exotic landscape.

Jim Jim

Surprisingly beautiful nature surrounds this relatively small waterfall (in terms of water volume) during the dry season. It has a classic rectangular shape with a continuous stream of water falling in a single cascade. Jim Jim is in National park Cockatoo in Northern Australia. Its height is 150 meters. The best time to visit it is the rainy season (December-February). At this time, a huge waterfall falls from the upper plateau with powerful force.

In dry seasons, unfortunately, the flow of water from it stops. This transformation makes it special and unique.

Calandula

There is also a natural treasure in Angola. It is located in the northwestern part of the country, on the river. Lucala. The width of the Kalandula waterfall is 400-600 meters (depending on the volume of the stream), the height is 104 meters. It is the 2nd largest waterfall in Africa (after Victoria).

Calandula got its name in 1975, after Angola, having freed itself from Portuguese rule, became independent. Before that, the waterfall was called "Duke de Bragança".

In Russia there are no such majestic waterfalls as the above-presented wonders, but there is also something to boast about and what to see.

For example, zeigalan waterfall... It has the highest height (600 meters) among the waterfalls in Europe. It is located in the beautiful mountainous North Ossetia. Most likely, it looks more like a trickle, which flows quickly in summer, and completely freezes in winter, leaving an ice trail on the rocks.

In the Eastern Sayan Mountains (central part) there is Kinzelyuk waterfall, gracefully flowing out of a mountain lake, surrounded by high rocky ridges. In length, it stretches for 328 meters. The spectacle is stunning - a narrow stream of a stream makes its way from a huge bowl. The waterfall is located in a hard-to-reach place, it is almost impossible to get to it.

The question of where are the most beautiful waterfalls in Russia can be answered as follows - among the wild and dense forests of the country and among the magnificent mountain landscapes. The most picturesque places in the country are the surrounding area Talnikovy waterfall... Huge streams of water flow down the rocky steep slopes. It especially captivates with its power and beauty in spring, when the snow melts.

The city of Sochi has Agur waterfalls... Their surroundings are very picturesque and beautiful. Among the boulders, overgrown with lianas and moss, the mountain river Agura carries its waters in cascades. It flows down through caves and gorges into a small azure lake.

Waterfall with an unusual name Ilya Muromets falls from Mount Demon, located on the Iturup Island (Kuril Islands). Its height is 141 meters. The waters of the cascade fall almost directly into the sea. Its beauty can be observed only from the sea side, because without special equipment and skill you cannot get to its top.

In conclusion, about one interesting

One interesting fact should be noted related to the great Niagara. For 10,000 years, the waterfall has risen up the river by about 11 kilometers. A similar movement continues now, and the speed is about 30 cm per year. Scientists believe that when this cliff reaches Lake Erie, which will happen in about 50 thousand years, Niagara will cease to exist.

01 Angela Falls, Venezuela

The first on our list will be Angel Falls - the highest in the world. Its height is 979 meters, which is 15 times more than the height of the famous Niagara. The waterfall is located in Venezuela, in the Canaima National Park, and every year thousands of tourists come to the country specifically to see this natural wonder with their own eyes, and risky base jumpers even jump from it. The waterfall is named after the American aviator Jimmy Angel, who, flying over Venezuela, noticed this waterfall from a height and opened it to the whole world.

02 Iguazu Falls, Brazil

This waterfall, located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, is considered one of the most powerful in the world. In fact, Iguazu is not just one waterfall, but a whole system of 275 waterfalls ranging from 60 to 80 meters high and about 3 kilometers long. The largest waterfall is a natural U-shaped formation called the "Devil's Throat" by the Spanish conquistadors.

03 Plitvice Lakes Waterfalls, Croatia

These amazingly beautiful waterfalls are located in Croatia, in the Plitvice National Park. The lakes of this national park are distinguished by a variety of colors, from bright blue to dark blue, depending on the types of microorganisms that are found in them. Several waterfalls connecting the lakes look amazing against the backdrop of azure waters and greenery of the surrounding forests.

04 Niagara Falls, USA

Of course, one of the most famous waterfalls in the world, Niagara Falls in the northeastern United States, could not be ignored. 05 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Another famous and very beautiful waterfall is located in Zimbabwe - this is, of course, Victoria Falls. Its height is 108 meters, its capacity is 1 million liters per second, and those who like real thrills can make a long jump from the waterfall on a rubber band.

06 Yosemite Falls, USA

This waterfall can be admired in California, in the national park of the same name. Yosemite is one of the highest waterfalls in the world - 739 meters. It is interesting that in winter the waterfall almost “dies down”, and in spring and summer it reaches its maximum scope.

07 Kaieteur Falls, Guyana

This natural wonder lurks in the rainforests of Guyana, a country in South America. Kaieteur is one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Its height is about 226 meters. For a long time, only local residents knew about this waterfall, but in 1870 it was accidentally discovered by an English geologist. Getting to the waterfall is quite difficult, but this does not stop the flow of tourists who want to see Kaieteur with their own eyes.

08 Gallfoss waterfall, Iceland

Not all beautiful waterfalls are in the tropics - there are some that are located far to the north, for example, the amazing Icelandic Gallfoss waterfall in Iceland, a country famous for its natural wonders. Gallfoss is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe, although its height is only about 30 meters.

09 Dettifoss waterfall, Iceland

Another Icelandic waterfall is Dettifoss, the most powerful in Europe. Its height is about 40 meters, and its capacity is about 200 cubic meters of water per second. The waterfall is surrounded by beautiful cliffs, gorges and lakes and is very popular with both locals and tourists.

10 Sutherland Falls, New Zealand

There is a waterfall in New Zealand called Sutherland. It is located on the South Island and is considered one of the most beautiful and mysterious waterfalls in the world. It is not easy to get to the waterfall, but it is worth it - the narrow stream of water flying from a height of 580 meters surrounded by dense greenery and rocks is a fantastic sight!

11 Tugela Falls, South Africa

Tugela Waterfall is the second largest in the world. It is located in South Africa, in the Royal National Park. The height of the waterfall is 411 meters.

12 Inga Falls, Congo

Another waterfall from Africa is Inga, which is part of the famous Livingstone Falls in Congo. This is one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in the world. Its height is 96 meters.

13 Papala Falls, USA

This waterfall is located in the Hawaiian Islands, in the picturesque Waipio Valley. Despite its relative obscurity, it ranks among the highest waterfalls in the world - 550 meters.

14 Gokta Falls, Peru

Gokta is the fifth largest waterfall in the world, located in Peru. Its height is 771 meters. Unbelievable, but true - the world learned about this waterfall only in 2005, and before that only the aborigines admired its beauty.

15 Vinnufossen waterfall, Norway

Our selection is completed by the Norwegian waterfall Vinnufossen - the highest in Europe (860 meters). Falling from a height, the waterfall splits into four streams, which makes it even more beautiful.

An unstoppable stream of water falling from a great height is one of the most mesmerizing natural wonders on Earth. And even if you can't go hunting for the perfect waterfall landscape right now, it doesn't matter. In this collection, we have collected the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. One glimpse of the sheer greatness of the natural world and your day will be a little better.

Let it not, but the most famous in Iceland and very unusual in appearance. It seems that the water flowing from the cliff just disappears into thin air.

Despite the fact that Gullfoss was so powerful that it was once considered a source for electricity generation, the height of the cascade is only 32 meters. But don't let the numbers fool you: the sheer power of the rushing water is what makes Gullfoss a popular tourist attraction.

It is best to visit this waterfall in the summer, in the afternoon (between 15:00 - 16:00), when the rocks are brightly lit by the sun and a rainbow is playing on the water jets.

Multnomah Falls, USA, Oregon

One of the tallest waterfalls in the state. It is interesting that a pedestrian bridge located between two rocks gives it a special charm. The landscape is reminiscent of an elven landscape.

Lovely Dettifoss, Iceland

Located in a national park. It arose under the influence of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The largest waterfall in Europe and perhaps the most spectacular, because due to the strong flow of water in sunny weather, a rainbow appears over the waterfall.

Maletsunyane Falls, Lesotho

The river lay in a green valley, where, falling off a steep cliff, it turned into a waterfall, so spectacular that the water that crashed into dust resembles clouds.

Banzok, Vietnam

The waterfall is ranked 4th in the world in terms of size, and the fantastic scenery makes it one of the most beautiful. During the rainy season, the three-level cascade becomes a continuous stream, breaks down from the mountains and forms a lake.

Barron, Australia

Among the tropical forests of Australia, there is a 259-meter waterfall. A train runs along its bed.

Indian Falls Gersoppa

240 kilometers from the capital of the state of Goa, the majestic Gersoppa (or Yog or Joga) waterfall, also known as the tallest vertical waterfall in India, is rustling. It consists of four cascades with a total height of 253 meters.

The name of the waterfall is translated as "Falling Man". According to one of the legends, the poor young man fell in love with the rajah's daughter, and in despair that he could never be with her, he jumped down, turning into a waterfall.

All the beauty of the Gersoppa Cascades unfolds from April to July, that is, in the spring and early summer, when the rainy season begins. At this time, an ideal balance is achieved between the water level and the air temperature, which ranges from 23 to 32 degrees.

Plitvice Falls, Croatia

Plitvice Waterfalls are part of the largest Croatian National Park “Plitvice Lakes”. The most beautiful and popular Plitvice waterfall is Sastavtsi, which from a height of 72 meters throws down the water of the Korana and Plitvice rivers.

Summer time (July, August, September) is the peak of the tourist season in Croatia, and for good reason. Summer in this country is characterized by warm temperatures and clear sunny skies. However, during the summer, the prices for visiting the National Park may be overpriced. For a less crowded experience, fall is best.

Palus Falls, USA, Washington

It belongs to the most beautiful waterfalls in America. It flows in the Palus Canyon. The stream is 8 meters higher than Niagara Falls and is 61 meters of turbulent stream. Palus freezes in winter and a rainbow in summer.

San Rafael, Ecuador

A waterfall of two steps 50 and 100 meters. There is so much water dust and splashes that it is impossible to observe the waterfall up close.

Skogafoss, Iceland

Another representative of Iceland, the most beautiful 60-meter waterfall in the country. It falls down in a wide, even massif, as if it was created artificially.

Huangoshu, China

The most beautiful waterfall of the Celestial Empire, 101 meters wide and 78 meters high. There is a cave behind him. The waterfall itself is located in Huangoshu National Park.

Iguazu - a waterfall of two countries

The largest system of waterfalls in the world and one of the seven natural wonders of the world stretches over 2,700 meters in width. In fact, the Iguazu Falls are so long that when Eleanor Roosevelt looked at them, she was rumored to exclaim "Poor Niagara!" Don't believe her? See for yourself.

These falls are picturesque all year round, so the best time to visit them depends on your work schedule. In December, January and February, the waterfalls are at their fullest, but the weather can be humid and rainy. March-April and August-September are months with a more or less dry climate, but at this time around the waterfalls are full of tourists.

Havasu, USA, Arizona

The most famous and popular waterfall in the world, after Niagara and Victoria. Located in the red canyon.

Niagara Falls, Canada

The most popular and beautiful waterfall in the world is located on the border of New York and Canada. There is a developed tourist infrastructure, many observation platforms. The width of the waterfall is 800 meters.

Rouacana, Angola and Namibia

A waterfall that literally separates the two states. Height - 124 meters. Nearby is the village of a local African tribe, which welcomes tourists.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Iceland

The most picturesque waterfall in the country, and possibly the whole world. The waters that form this miracle of nature, rushing down to form a beautiful river, stretching among the green fields.

Bong Bong, India

The second name is Nuranang. The waterfall is surrounded by dense forests. It originates in the snowy peaks of the Himalayas.

Vernal, USA, California, Yosemite Park

It makes up a step of two waterfalls in Yosemite Natural Park, along with its younger brother Nevada, together forming a huge staircase.

Kaieteur, Guyana

The waterfall, located deep in the Amazon, is considered one of the priceless treasures of the rainforest and South America generally. It is also one of the largest waterfalls in terms of water flow (663m³ / s), so get ready to get wet!

Starting at 226 meters above the ground, Kaieteur is five times taller than the famous Niagara Falls. However, it is much less known, because it is located in a poorly explored region of the Guiana Highlands, where there are many, many rainforests and few people. To get there, you will have to go on a two-day hiking trip or charter a small plane from Georgetown.

The weather in this region can be unpredictable, making it difficult to determine when is the best time to see Kaieteur. Perhaps the best time to watch him is from March to June, when it is not too hot and not too humid.

Sutherland Falls, New Zealand

The deafening roar of the clearest water falling down from a height of 580 meters - this is how the Sutherland Falls, located in the National natural park Fiordland. Its source is a lake, which is located in a giant natural bowl in the hollow of the Southern Alps.

Most travelers visit it from late October to early April. Whether rainy or sunny, Sutherland Falls is an impressive attraction.

Yosemite Falls, USA

Yosemite Falls, located in the eponymous California National Park, is impressively huge (739 meters) and spectacular. It consists of three waterfalls: Upper, Middle and Lower. However, you do not even need to climb to the two upper waterfalls to appreciate all the splendor of this natural wonder. One of viewing platforms allows you to see the entire waterfall from afar.

Spring is the best time to visit Yosemite Falls as the wildflowers begin to bloom and the weather is warm. Don't let the "Californian mild weather" myth fool you: it snows in Yosemite National Park in winter, and the waterfall itself is not deep and looks less interesting.

Angel Falls (Kerepakupai Meru), Venezuela

This 979-meter stream is the tallest waterfall in the world. And for travelers to Venezuela, this is almost a must-see attraction.

Angel is also considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was allegedly discovered by the famed English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh while searching for the city of El Dorado in 1595. However, the name "Angel" is the Spanish version of the pronunciation of the surname of the pilot James Angel, with the light hand of which the waterfall became widely known.

Today's visitors to the falls have an exciting and difficult journey, as Angel is still considered a rather remote place, and can only be reached by river or by air. But the fearless waterfall hunters will be rewarded with a visit to one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.

Most, if not all, river trips to Angel Falls take place between June and December, when the water level is high enough to allow safe river travel. Traveling outside of the year may not be possible, so plan ahead.

Victoria Falls, Zambia and Zimbabwe

It is not surprising that the world's most famous Victoria Falls is in the top three of the list of the most beautiful waterfalls. It is located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Although technically not the tallest (120 meters) or widest (1,800 meters), this falls is known as the only waterfall in the world to be over a hundred meters high and over a kilometer wide.

Many African travelers visit Zambia or Zimbabwe to watch the unrestrained, thundering and sparkling flow of water - a spectacle that can be seen once in a lifetime.

The moderate year-round weather in the Victoria Falls area only adds to its popularity. However, African summers can be too hot and dry, and heading to one of the most famous waterfalls in the world is best between March and August.

Waterfall "Unexpected", Russia

In the photo of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, you saw many cascades, impressive in height and width. However, Russia is also not deprived of beautiful waterfalls. And, perhaps, the most original of them is located in the Primorsky Territory, on the Left Gorbaty Key (a tributary of the Steklyanukha River).

The name of the waterfall is explained by its location - it unexpectedly grows in front of travelers on the way along the old timber road, surrounded by the Ussuri taiga with its distinctive flora and fauna. The "Unexpected" is only 9 meters high and consists of two cascades streaming along basalt pillars.

The best time to visit this waterfall is summer-autumn, on weekdays. On weekends, there are too many tourists around the waterfall, and it is impossible to photograph it without someone intruding into the frame.

Among the greatest natural phenomena, the most beautiful waterfalls in the world occupy a deservedly special place. Since ancient times, people have been drawn like a magnet to their inexhaustible thundering cascades. If one finds himself in front of this natural phenomenon, the veil of illusions in which previously a person imagined himself to be the king of nature disappears.

Consider the most beautiful and majestic waterfalls, the photos of which, by themselves exciting our imagination, still cannot convey even one hundredth of the truly stunning impression that they invariably produce when seen in reality.

Highest waterfall Angel

This waterfall is the tallest on the planet. It is located on the South American continent in Venezuela, and translated into Russian means "angel jump". The location of the waterfall is Kanama National Park. A roaring stream of water rushing down from a height twice the size of the tallest building ever erected by man, crashes down with a crash and forms a kind of thick fog. Its exact height is still not known and is approximately from 978 to 1054 m.

Angel Falls - one of the most difficult for tourists to access. It is almost impossible to approach a steep kilometer-long wall, densely blocked by a tropical forest, which is intertwined with thickets of impenetrable bushes and lianas. Therefore, surveyors, when they tried to measure the height of this waterfall, cut their way with axes. It took them 20 days to cover 35 km.

And now, those who want to see this miracle of nature, during the rainy season, which takes six months (from May to November), would have to travel by boat for 5 hours. And since Angel feeds exclusively on rains, it makes no sense to make your way to it in the dry season: an eyewitness risks being very disappointed when he sees a negligible stream instead of a monumental water extravaganza.

Great Iguazu Falls

Located on the border of Argentina and Brazil. Objectively considered the most beautiful panorama in the world. Takes first place in terms of fullness. 275 cascades, merging into one, form a whopper with a displacement of 1700 cubic meters per second. Its height is 80 m, and its width at the base is 4 km. It was opened to Europeans in the 16th century by the Spanish conquistadors.

The river where this waterfall is located, winding for a long time, flows through the mainland towards the west for about 1500 km and only then breaks off with a huge vault of waterfalls, which at the very drain resemble a crescent in their shape. The hum of the elements can be heard from miles away. Iguazu has become a real pride of Brazilians and Argentines. Every year it gathers tens of thousands of tourists eager to see this splendor with their own eyes.

Interestingly, because of the border location, Argentina, at the same time as Brazil, have every right to a "master's" attitude to this unique waterfall. Due to the current situation, there are original agreements between these states: the Brazilians hold a monopoly on helicopter tours for tourists, but the Argentines are in charge of boat trips on boats.

When the largest waterfalls on the planet are mentioned, it would be unfair to ignore the famous Niagara. The waterfall is located on the river of the same name, at the very border of two states: New York and Ontario, located, respectively, in the USA and Canada. It has long been noticed that all the largest waterfalls in width are located on the border of two, and sometimes three countries. And this is far from a coincidence - the water bodies stretched into immense latitude are natural impassable boundaries, along which state borders were once established.

Niagara Falls has become the most popular among tourists, largely due to its accessibility. It is formed by several waterfalls, the total height of which is 53 m. The rate of falling of the water jets of this giant is about 3 million l / s. Niagara Falls by air, and by swimming, using homemade aircraft, ropes, wooden barrels and even rubber balls.

The closest settlement is the city of Buffalo. In order to avoid the numerous crowds of pilgrims, it is better to come here in the autumn-spring period. This will provide an opportunity to enjoy the indescribable beauty and power of the waterfall in relative peace.

Victoria Falls

In addition to Angel Falls, the highest waterfalls in the world are complemented by Victoria Falls, which successfully divides Zimbabwe and Zambia between itself. The discoverer of Victoria was destined to become a native of Scotland D. Livingston. The opening date is considered to be 1865. Four years before the opening, Livingston already knew about this geographical object and initially intended to use this amazing beauty of the waterfall to make dense Africa a center of attraction for travelers.

Victoria is the highest waterfall on the African continent. Also, the uniqueness of this waterfall lies in the fact that, with a two-kilometer length in breadth, it has a 120-meter height. There are no more such cascades on the planet. It is located on the local, very full-flowing Zambezi River. At the very peak of the inflow of water, the waterfall surpasses an average of 8,000 cubic meters per second.

The natives called this breathtaking cascade "thundering smoke", meaning the volume of water mist that rises above 400 m, as well as the unbearable noise heard from a dozen kilometers away. And the spray rising up in a huge column can be seen 50 km away. A rainbow sparkles in them. To experience incredible sensations, it is worth at least once to stand at the foot of Victoria.

The most beautiful waterfalls in the world are undoubtedly the largest and most picturesque creations of nature. These include a natural complex of waterfalls and lakes - Plitvice Lakes, located in the Croatian National Park. This waterfall literally delights with its picturesque picturesqueness. The feeling that all the colors of the color spectrum are present in this fabulously beautiful place does not leave. The park is a self-healing ecosystem with 140 waterfalls, 16 lakes, two dozen caves and a unique forest of endemic trees, which is home to an impressive number of rare animals and birds.

Until 1958, the park was inaccessible to tourists, there were only cut glades. In 1958, the director of the park, Iosip Movchan, initiated the construction of pedestrian roads. And at the moment there is a wide network of decking and environmentally friendly transport.

The Plitvice Lakes Waterfall has long been the most significant landmark in Croatia, which was included in UNESCO in 1979. Fishing, lighting fires, swimming and many other human activities that can disturb the natural balance of this miracle of nature are prohibited here.
