From Ben Gurion to Eilat by train. Distance from Tel Aviv to Eilat - transport between resorts

On my trip to Israel, I decided to go to the Israeli side of the Red Sea and visit Eilat. And before she went on the trip, she figured out how to overcome the route best.

To Eilat by car

Tel Aviv and Eilat are separated by 355 km, which can be covered by car in almost 4 hours.

Of course, you will have to rent a car, and you can do this in Tel Aviv, for example.

To travel within Israel by car, you must have an international driver's license and car insurance. In addition, driving experience must be at least 1 year, and the driver’s age must be over 24 years. And you should take into account that car rental services will also ask you for international data. credit card, where they will block approximately $1000 as a deposit until the car is returned.

Almost the entire route to Eilat from Tel Aviv is along a two-lane concrete road through the Negev Desert. Therefore, keep in mind that the route has many serpentines, sharp descents and sharp turns.

The section of the route along Highway No. 6 from Lod to Rahat is tolled, and you will have to pay about 11 shekels or 200 rubles for driving along it. In Israel, by the way, there are no road toll points. Before entering a paid area, a traffic camera simply takes a photo of the car’s license plate number and the invoice is sent to your home address (or the address of the rental agency).

The entire journey to Eilat will require at least 35 liters of fuel, which will cost approximately 4,150 rubles. Fuel in Israel is much more expensive than in Russia - $1.73/l.

By bus to Eilat

You can quickly and comfortably get to Eilat from Tel Aviv by bus.

Many Egged buses depart daily from the Tel Aviv bus station, located at 108 Levinsky Street. They follow routes No. 390, No. 393 and No. 394 and cover their journey to the Eilat Central Bus Station in an average of 5 hours 10 minutes.

Buses run according to the following schedule:

  • from Sunday to Thursday from 06:30 am to 23:58 with an interval of 1.5–2 hours:
  • on Friday from 06:30 am to 15:01;
  • on Saturday from 11:00 to 23:58.

So before planning a trip, I advise you to check the schedule again on the Egged carrier’s website.

The route is followed by large Mercedes or Volvo buses with air conditioning, free internet and USB ports for charging phones, and there are several short stops along the way. So the bus ride will be quite comfortable.

Ticket prices

A trip to Eilat by bus from Tel Aviv will cost only 70 shekels or 1,285 rubles.

You can buy tickets on the sixth floor of the Tel Aviv bus station. I don’t recommend buying tickets on the carrier company’s website, because tickets can only be issued on the website in Hebrew, and this version is incomprehensible even with the browser’s automatic translator.

Every day there are 2-3 direct flights from Tel Aviv Airport to Eilat with Arkia Israeli Airlines. The planes cover their route in just 1 hour.

Ticket prices

Buying tickets
