Today, if the coach allows, Alexander goes to the training camp with his wife and son Bogdan, who arrived in April 2016. “I try to be a strict father, but it doesn’t always work out. By the way, it was at Spartak that Fernando learned that in Russia there is such a holiday as March 8th. As a result, on this day he gave his beloved flowers and arranged a festive dinner. This made a truly unforgettable impression on Rafaella!

Promes and Jamie

Dutch Spartak midfielder Quincy Anton Promes took his future wife Jamie away from a friend! 18-year-old Promes was then playing for the Twente team and was more decisive than his friend. Quincy looked after the girl beautifully: he gave flowers and expensive gifts, and one day threw a party for her in Amsterdam. And when romantic music started playing in the hall, Quincy approached Jamie and asked her to become his wife. Now the couple has two children - daughters of the same age, Alani and Aliya.

Spartak head coach Massimo Carrera commented specifically for Match TV on the story of Quincy Promes with his wife, and also assessed the Russian team’s chances of reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup.

– “Spartak” began its training camp in Austria. When will you return to Moscow?

- On the 22nd. The Russian championship is already ready to start there.

– Newcomer Tashaev is already training with you.

“Quincy too?”

- Yes, and Quincy.

- So all this talk about his fight and the trial turned out to be frivolous?

“I haven’t had a long conversation with him yet.” Quincy told me there was a small incident, but nothing more. He didn't beat his wife. The club also told me that nothing bad happened. So, today I proceed from this.

– How did Gigot fit into the team?

- In my opinion, good. I'm sure he will help us.

– How are things with Dzhikia?

- Works. Soon he will finally return to the general group on a common basis. We hope that it will be ready by the start of the national championship.

– Zhano Ananidze?

- He will need more time.

- Selikhov?

“And he still needs time, too.”

– This pre-season differs from last year in that you play more training matches. What causes this?

– We decided to change something in the training process.

– You failed at the beginning of the last championship. This means that something probably didn’t work out in the preseason. Do you feel that the situation is different now, the mood is different?

– You know, I don’t see it yet. to be honest, there is not much difference. Even then we worked well at the training camp, and then snatched victory in the Super Cup. After winning the Super Bowl, there was a decline, yes. But now we are away from the Super Bowl, so there won’t be a recession (laughs).

– Have you studied the calendar of the first matches?

- I looked.

- So how is it? Last season had a very tough start.

– Perhaps last year the start of the season really looked tougher. than now, but we don’t need to think about it. We need to think about how to prepare seriously and effectively for the start of the season, because in addition to the national championship, we will also immediately qualify for the Champions League. So let's work, work, work!

– Do you believe that after Spain the Russian team is capable of getting past Croatia?

– I believe and will root for her greatly!

– Does our team have enough physical and emotional strength to win?

– Enough time has passed since Spain. It is clear that Russia is well prepared physically, and the euphoria after the match, I think, has long disappeared. I am sure that Cherchesov knows how to choose the right words in such cases. And the players themselves understand what the match against Croatia means for them.

– Many people believe that Russia has already jumped over its head. Due to what, in your opinion?

– Organization of the game and dedication, self-confidence, careful study of a specific opponent, support from fans – there will be many arguments in favor of Cherchesov’s team. It is clear that all the guys fight without sparing themselves - for themselves and for their partners. And they are not afraid of authorities. Russia played like this with Spain. how she played, that is, with such an emphasis on defense, not out of fear, but out of prudence. There was no other way to play with Spain.

– Don’t you think that today’s Croatia is stronger than the Spain we beat in a penalty shootout?

– Croatia is a very tough nut to crack, they are a great team in which it is not easy to find weak points. This Croatia is very difficult for everyone. This is a solid team in which the stars are skillfully integrated into team play. And the super motivation for the Croats is the same as for Russia – the semi-finals.

– What are the vulnerabilities of the Croatian national team?

– I think that Cherchesov studied them in detail. He probably knows more than I do. I see that Croatia can be caught with quick counterattacks, that some nuances can be used in their defensive game. But Cherchesov definitely knows more!

– All three Spartak players regularly appear in the starting lineup of the Russian national team. What can you say about their game?

- The guys are just great! And Kutepov, and Zobnin, and Samedov made a significant contribution to what was happening. It’s clear that we would need all three of us at the training camp now, but it’s much more interesting for them to play at the World Championships in Russia than to train in Austria (laughs).

– Could you imagine before the start of the tournament that Russia would get so far?

– The Russian team deserves what it has. In Russia itself, it seems, before the tournament there were much more skeptics than optimists, but Cherchesov and his team are real fighters who greatly pleased their fans.

- Yes, sure. After all, almost all the Russian national team players play in the domestic championship. This World Cup is a great advertisement for the Russian Championship.

Spartak midfielder Quincy Promes gave an interview to the official website of the red-whites, in which he talked about how he is not afraid of the Moscow cold and long flights.

The game against Torpedo was clearly a success for you, and you scored two goals. Are you getting more and more comfortable with the Russian championship?

I quickly adapt both to the team and to life in Moscow in general; I really like the city. For all of us, the first victory at the new stadium was very important, and it is even more pleasant that in such a game we managed to score and open the scoring for Spartak. At the beginning of the match we created some good chances, but the ball never went into the goal. Then, thanks to good team play, we put the pressure on the opponent, and I scored the first goal. After that we relaxed and felt that the outcome of the match was in our hands. I hope that I will continue to bring goals to the team’s treasury.

Do you understand that you took part in a historic event for the club - you scored the first goal in an official match at the Otkritie Arena?

I didn’t think about it during the match, but after, when everyone was congratulating me on this significant event, I realized what an honor I had.

- How did you like the atmosphere of the Spartak house?

All just great! We have crazy support, which is great on the field; the fans did not stop singing throughout the match.

- In the game with Ufa, you assisted Dzyuba, now Artyom answered you in the same way. Are you building rapport?

Artyom is a great striker! I try to supply him with good balls as often as possible, because we all know how he can score. I understand how comfortable it is for him to play, and he understands me well, and by assisting each other on the field, we become stronger. All the guys on the team are trying to help me quickly adapt to the Spartak game, and the match with Torpedo, I think, showed that through team interaction we can do a lot.

- Which of the guys do you communicate with the most?

In training - with absolutely everyone: we have a great team. I became very friendly with Waris while he was at Spartak. Outside of football, I am a family man, my relatives have already moved to Moscow, and I mostly spend my free time from training at home with my wife and children.

- You have already played many matches in the Russian Premier League. What can you say about the level of the championship?

The Russian championship is certainly stronger than the Dutch one. We are playing against strong teams and great players. For me as a young player this is a step forward and a great opportunity to grow and progress.

- Which match has been most memorable so far? How do you like the atmosphere of the main derby between CSKA and Spartak?

I know how important a victory in the match with CSKA is for our fans; they supported us great, and I am very proud that I was able to take part in this victorious meeting. Perhaps most of all I remember the game against Torpedo. But I don't like to look back. Yes, we played a good match, but we need to move on, prove ourselves and win the next games.

What in Russia surprises you? Murat Yakin, for example, said that due to the large distances in Russia, it is necessary to prepare for away matches as if they were European Cup matches. Are you getting used to it?

Yes, this is somewhat unusual. In European leagues you can get to most matches by bus, but in Russia you have to travel to every away game by plane. But for me this is not a problem, you can get used to it.

- What then do you think about the ten-hour flight to Komsomolsk-on-Amur for the Russian Cup match?

It seems incredible! The flight from Holland to Suriname, where my roots are from, is about the same, so I already have experience in long-distance travel. We must take the situation for granted, prepare seriously and try to win.

- How are your training sessions going under the leadership of Murat Yakin? What tasks are set for you?

We are required to take a serious approach to training and complete tasks on the field one hundred percent. We always carefully analyze mistakes in team play. Murat wants me to play on the right and move more, he helps and advises me a lot. I feel that the coach believes in me and sees my capabilities.

- Are there many new things compared to training at Twente and the Dutch national team?

As for working on technique, in any team it is structured more or less the same way. Of course, each coach has his own characteristics, his own approach. I am close to the philosophy of Murat Yakin’s game, I understand perfectly well what kind of game he expects from us.

- How would you characterize your playing style?

I have speed and technique, thanks to which I can show a beautiful game, create chances and delight the fans. I like to play the kind of football that the spectators would enjoy watching.

When you first arrived in Russia, it was hot and the sun was shining with all its might. Now it is gradually getting colder, but it will still be in two or three months... Have you heard about the peculiarities of our climate?

I heard that it can be very, very cold. But is this a problem? You'll just need to dress warmer.

-Have you already moved your family here?

My wife (her name is Jamie) and two little daughters came with me. In addition, my mother and brother are with me in Moscow.

-Where did you live?

I live, like many of my teammates, in the City.

- Do you already have any favorite places? Where and with whom do you spend most of your time? free time?

I don't like going to restaurants; I prefer home-cooked food. My mom cooks so deliciously! I really love the way she makes rice with chicken, this dish is from Surinamese cuisine. I try to spend all my free time at home with my children.

- Spartak’s next match will be against Terek. What do you know about this opponent?

This game will definitely not be an easy ride for us. Terek is a good team that showed good results at the beginning of the championship. But we definitely have to win.

The match of the 8th round of the Premier League “Spartak” with “Terek” will take place on Saturday September 20. Start on site at 20.00 Moscow time.
