Air tickets on Skyscanner. Skyscanner service for purchasing air tickets

I continue to fill the blog with general information articles. Perhaps someday this will result in a separate FAQ on the topic independent travel. I usually stick to this plan - if a question is asked repeatedly, then an article on this topic is needed, so that next time I can simply answer with a link. This time about how book a plane ticket, a kind of instruction for using the site.

And, yes, be sure to take a look, because still not everyone even knows how a hotel search engine differs from a reservation system.

So, I often use the service to search for air tickets, so I’ll tell you everything using its example. I like it there, and I like the interface, and the prices... Yes, and it so happened that I learned about it first of all, the habit of using it has already developed. On other sites, the process of selecting and booking a ticket will be very similar.

Skyscanner is an air ticket search engine, or in other words an aggregator, that is, it does not sell anything itself, but only shows prices for tickets from many airlines. It does not charge any commissions for use, but simply redirects you after searching and selecting a particular flight to the website of the airline or agency that sells these tickets. I will talk about this below now.

Thus, all your monetary relations will be with the agency or with the airline, because they were the ones who sold you the ticket, and not Skyscanner. It is important to understand this and pay attention to the site where you actually buy the ticket. Otherwise, newcomers still address their questions to the search engine, and not to the agency.

How to book a plane ticket

Fill out the form

All important points The photos I will talk about are marked with red lines.

The first thing we see on the main page is a standard search form, including points of departure, destination, and flight dates. Everything here is clear and simple. You can also look at the offers in the “Cheap tickets” block, it is below and to the right of the search form. Suddenly there is a direction that we just need. Or you can immediately fill out the search form.

searching results

For example, I need tickets from Moscow to Sochi. I fill out the form, click “Find” and get the result in the form of a list of flights with prices. For example, I chose Moscow-Sochi and back; there on August 1st, back on August 8th. The cheapest option offered is 10,151 rubles from Pobeda. In the search results there are filters on the left, where you can select a direct flight or with a transfer, select specific airlines, the interval for the departure time, the maximum travel time (a handy thing for filtering flights that are too long, remember it).

For each ticket option there are links: under the price on the right - to the agency (or airline) where you can buy a ticket, under it there is a checkmark “Real time” - this means that the price is relevant right now. There are options that the price was updated so many hours ago. Below we see links to other agencies selling these tickets and on the left you can click More details and see all the information about the selected ticket option.

By clicking More details, we see all the flight details, as well as which agencies offer ticket prices.
You can buy it either from an agency or from an airline. But the latter is not always offered. For example, in the case of Pobeda, Skyscanner suggests that you yourself see a link to it in the screenshot, and not just to ticket agencies.

Buying a ticket

After finding the desired flight, follow the link to the agency or airline where you can book a plane ticket. The steps there are simple - fill out your first and last name, select food and luggage (if any), and pay by bank card(). By the way, some agencies still have the opportunity to pay for a ticket with electronic money or cash in an office or communication store, for example, in Euroset or Svyaznoy. The option of paying in the office is more relevant for Moscow, since most of the offices are there. But when purchasing on the airline’s website, most likely there will be no payment options at all, and they will only offer to pay by credit card.

Before paying, make sure you read the ticket return policy (cheap tickets are usually non-refundable), baggage rules (I have a little about this), and select food and seats (if there is such an option).

Remember, you don't have to go from Skyscanner to agency websites and book a plane ticket. If the link to the airline is not provided, then you can manually find its website (we know its name from “Flight Information”), and check the price for the desired date, whether it is different or not, and choose where it is cheaper.

Useful features for travelers

Search for tickets on the Price Calendar

Since we chose round trip, the Calendar shows us two blocks of prices at once. Two blocks of prices (“Departure” and “Round and back”) and both for the month of August, as we chose. The bottom block is not very aptly named “There and Back”, it is actually a return ticket.

Please note that you can view search results in the “Table” format (I like it this way) or in the “Calendar” format. But the prices are shown the same, the only difference is in the visual display.

After poking around a bit with different numbers, I chose August 16 and August 23. Both days are Sunday, that is, nothing has changed much and I will also stay in Sochi for a week (last time I looked for August 1 and 8, those were Saturdays). Now the ticket costs 8,600 rubles (let me remind you that when specifying the exact dates the price was 10,151 rubles). The savings seem to be small, but if you have a family of 5 people, it will already be noticeable. And if you fly somewhere to Asia, where a ticket is 5 times more expensive, then the savings can be corresponding.

As you can see in the screenshot, you can choose a lower price, but the tickets will be for weekdays. If the day of the week is not important to you, you can always check and choose the cheapest option. And, please note, when you change the departure day on the calendar, the prices for the return ticket in the lower block also change.

Search for tickets by destination (country)

After clicking the “Find” button, we immediately see which cities in Germany have the cheapest tickets for the selected date and with which airlines. Now all that remains is to select the arrival city, for example, Berlin.

P.S. Cheap tickets and good travels to everyone!

The cheapest prices for air tickets can be found through this form Skyscanner service - Skyscanner.

Book plane tickets using Skyscanner

Every journey begins with the purchase of the coveted rough pieces of paper - plane tickets, which we nervously fiddle with, excited before departure. This usually happens the first time, but over time, when flights become something more or less familiar to us, we pay more attention to the cost of tickets and the level of comfort than to the atmosphere before the flight.

So, after a while, many tourists begin to try to find cheaper tickets, Internet users strive to place an order for plane tickets through online services, such as Skyscanner. And the most experienced ones try to fly not through travel agencies, but as savages, while saving up to two-thirds of their vacation costs. In any case, such a service as booking plane tickets allows you not only to save time and money, but also to simplify your life.

If you have a hotel reservation and, as a result, an already open visa to the country where you are going. There's no point in overpaying travel agency for formally accompanying you along the way - in fact, you are still left to your own devices. Simply having more freedom allows you to plan your excursions more freely. When you plan to vacation with small children, being tied to the general routine makes the trip simply an unbearable ordeal.

Now you don't have to worry about having to obey regulations. Just book a hotel room in the country where you are going, submit documents for a visa to the consulate of the resident country. And don’t forget about booking plane tickets - having a reservation greatly increases your chances of successfully obtaining a permit.

Hotel booking and car rental Skyscanner

Now you can use Skyscanner to book hotels and rent a car abroad. Use proven services while traveling!

One of the largest search engines for air tickets. Like Aviasales, Skyscanner itself does not sell tickets: after searching for the best option, it redirects us to the website of the seller of the selected tickets. He doesn’t take any commission for this either.
Skyscanner has several interesting features, which I will talk about below.

!
For 365 days, multi!
For citizens of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the full cost with all fees = 8200 rub..
For citizens of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia = 6900 rub.

For now, let's fill out the search form.
Let's say I want to find tickets Samara - Delhi - Samara, there on March 4, back on March 25.
Everything is as usual. Fill in “From”, “Where”, one way or back and forth. We set the dates, the number of passengers, click “Find” - and wait a few seconds.

We see the search result. They look something like this:

On top - the most low price. Further down it becomes more and more expensive.
In this case, the best offer is from Flydubai airlines with a transfer in Dubai. We see that the lowest price is offered by the airline itself (highlighted in red). In this case, agents have higher prices.
This doesn't always happen. Sometimes agents have lower prices than on the airline's website.
Next, click “View” - and Skyscanner redirects us to the Flydubai website to complete the booking process. While the redirect is being performed, we are shown a message indicating that the availability of this tariff is being checked. Those. While we are looking for and choosing profitable flights, the Universe does not stand still, and the situation may change, and along with it the ticket price may change (both positive and negative).
Flydubai is opening - that's right! – the price suddenly became lower: not 25,235 rubles. (as Skyscanner showed), but 24500!

The price has been checked and you can proceed to payment. We fill in the passenger data and pay for the ticket with a Visa or MasterCard.
Just in case, let me remind you about such a wonderful thing as. If we want to use this chance and walk around Dubai, then we look at the “Rate Conditions”, and if a stopover in Dubai is allowed on our tariff, then we call the airline and book it!

Skyscanner, search on map

In the upper right corner there is a small link “Search on the map”.

If, after filling out the “From” and “To” fields, you click on this link, a map will open on which you can see all the cities along the route of our route. Firstly, it’s just interesting :-), and secondly, you might think about whether we would like to make a transfer somewhere and check out in order to walk around some new places.

Advanced functions of the Skyscanner search engine. Search by country

If we are going to travel around a country, and we don’t care which city of this country we fly to, then instead of the name of the city, we can enter the name of the country, in this case we will be shown various cities of this country, and we can analyze each city by prices.

If we are not limited to fixed dates, then we can use the “Search throughout the month” and “Search throughout the year” functions.

1. Fill in the “From” and “Where” fields.
2. We mark “One way” or “Round trip” if we want to fly.
3. Select the desired month (let’s say we want to fly there in March and back in April).
4. Click “Whole month” in the lower right corner.

5. Click “Find”.
6. A table appears.

7. The table clearly shows which dates have the cheapest air tickets.
We select the date “There”, based on minimum price. Let's celebrate this date.
8. Select a “Return” date based on the minimum price and desired duration of the trip. Let's celebrate this date. Let's say I choose March 12 - April 12.
9. We see the full cost of a round-trip flight.

If it’s more convenient for us to look at prices in numbers, click the “Calendar” tab.
Next, the search algorithm is similar.

Search all year on Skyscanner

Instead of the “All month” button, click “All year”.
By default, the month with the lowest prices opens.
If we want to look at another month, then select it in the drop-down window.

Based on these data, we select the day of departure “There” and the day of departure “Back”.
Below we see the full round-trip price.

Finally yay!! Skyscanner also (as well as Aviasales) now has the “Composite route” function!
Now you can set not only the start and end points of the path, but also intermediate ones. This is already much more interesting.
« Composite route“- this is when we want to fly to one city and fly away from another, or fly to one, stay there, fly to another, stay there, then to a third, etc.
It looks like this:

When we press the “Complex route” button, instead of two windows (From-Where), more lines are added. This really greatly expanded the functionality of Skyscanner; they didn’t have this function before.
We drive in different cities along the chain - and... we create a route for a trip around the world!
Well, if we are not yet ready for a round-the-world trip (it’s just a matter of time!), then we simply enter, for example, an arrival in one city and a departure from another. And between these two cities we travel at our leisure by trains, buses, and cars.
Or we set some intermediate city and do it in it, which is also very interesting.

Filters for searching for flights

Like the Aviasales search engine, Skyscanner has filters for the optimal search for air tickets. They are located in a column to the left of the results table.

  • Filter “Transfer on the way”. If we want to fly without a transfer, we put a tick in the “Direct” checkbox, and clear the rest.
  • If we have preferences regarding the departure time, we install the appropriate engine at the desired time.
  • You can also set “Travelling time”.
  • Filter by airlines. If for some reason we want to fly with a specific airline (but don’t want to fly with others), then we put a tick in the checkbox opposite this company and clear the rest.

And now - an interesting feature that will help reduce the price of our tickets even more.

A tricky way to use the Skyscanner search engine to reduce the cost of flights

On Skyscanner, unlike Aviasales, in the “Where” field we can write not only a city, and not only an entire country, but also the magic phrase “Everywhere (All countries)”.
How can this magic phrase help us? I'll explain with an example.
Let's say we need to fly from Moscow to Manila (Philippines) as cheaply as possible.
First, of course, we look at the prices “Moscow - Manila” and choose the most profitable option. Now let’s see if it’s possible to fly even cheaper. To do this, we do this.
In the “From” field we write “Moscow”.
In the “Where” field we write “Everywhere (All countries)”.
We see a long list of countries and prices. Write it out in the left column.
Click “New Search”.
Now in the “From” field we write “Manila”, in the “Where” field we write “Everywhere”.
Once again a long list of countries and prices appears. Write it out in the right column.
And we look at the coincidences. We choose countries from where you can fly to both Moscow and Manila.
Then it’s already clear: open this country (by clicking on it), select a city and sum up the prices of both segments.
Example.
We are looking at a one-way ticket from Moscow to Manila on February 19.
The lowest price shown by Skyscanner is 24,920 rubles (Air China via Beijing).
We try to use our cunning method - and we get, for example, this option:
Moscow – Bangkok = 13081 rubles. (S7)
Bangkok - Manila = 9841 rub. (Philippine Airlines)
The total cost turned out to be 22,922 rubles, i.e. exactly 2 thousand rubles cheaper (sometimes it is significantly cheaper).
Why Skyscanner itself doesn’t show this option, I don’t know. There is a version that search engines do not combine regular airlines with low-cost airlines, but in this case both airlines are not low-cost airlines, so this is not the reason, but the fact remains that this cunning method can make the ticket even cheaper.

So, click on this funny banner, go to the Skyscanner website - and choose the cheapest air tickets:

Happy flying to us!

In fact, there is nothing difficult about saving on air tickets and flying with maximum benefit. I have been consistently buying flights only through Skyscanner for many years, but I only recently learned about some of the site’s tricks, which I am happy to share with others. In my opinion, this is the most convenient site of all.

How to buy the cheapest air tickets

There are several rules by following which you will get the most cheap ticket on that website.

1. If you are planning a trip in principle, for example, you dream of visiting Maldives , and it doesn’t matter to you what month you fly, on Skyscanner there is such an option as most cheap month for air travel to a specific country. By setting this parameter, the search engine will give you the cheapest prices for the entire year. Then, thanks to the scale, you can choose the cheapest day, flight, and so on.

Prices are available both in the chart in the form of scales and on the calendar. Just click on the cheapest ones and book your profitable round trip flight.

2. Probably everyone knows what to buy two-way ticket cheaper than one way, often twice as much. That is, if you buy two tickets from one carrier in both directions, it will practically cost you the price of one. In addition, in many countries, for example to Zanzibar , a visa is required to enter the country and is issued if you have round-trip tickets. But this also applies to domestic flights around the country, round trips are always cheaper (I apologize if I haven’t discovered America, but I thought it necessary to write)

3. I almost always buy tickets not directly from Skyscanner but go to the official website. Let me explain. If Flydubai offers me the best price or Qatar Airways I will most likely go to their official website and buy tickets there. This will help save another 400-500 rubles per ticket, but that’s not the point. In Skyscanner, whatever one may say, not full list all airline flights. Therefore, on official websites it is possible to buy at a more convenient time, for example.

4. Paying for the ticket is very simple, using a bank card. You simply enter all the necessary data and in a couple of minutes you will receive an electronic ticket for any flight by email. If you are flying international flights It is better to print the ticket if it is not necessary within the country. Just go to the check-in counter with your passport, where you are already listed. For many years, I have never been asked for a printout of a ticket (both domestically and in other countries). The only thing you need it for is to obtain a visa at the border, where you need a return ticket and a guarantee that you are not going to stay with them))

Do you know that more than 80% of Russians and Belarusians have never been abroad in their lives? Not even once! How, how can this be? Do you believe such statistics? I refuse to believe!

Now I decided to fill the blog useful information to make our small contribution to the development of a culture of independent travel.

I want anyone, even those who have never traveled abroad or bought anything on the Internet, to be able to quickly plan with the help of my blog independent holiday or a journey from beginning to end.

The first question that a traveler faces is how to buy cheap air tickets to get to his destination?

Like many other travelers, I buy air tickets online and use two search engines for this: , in exactly the order in which they are listed in this sentence.

I enter my flight dates, destination and check prices on three sites at once, after which I buy where the price is lower and the flight conditions are most suitable.

The first thing I do is go to Skyscanner

Why do I love Skyscanner?

1. Skyscanner often finds the lowest prices

2. Skyscanner is very flexible and convenient search: you can specify in the criteria not cities of departure and arrival, but countries or the whole world. You can also choose not specific dates, but the entire month or year and see which days are the cheapest to fly. Below I will talk about this in more detail.

3. Skyscanner shows prices for tickets from budget airlines, including Ryanair, Wizzair, AirAsia and other European, Asian, Latin American low-cost airlines

I recommend watching a video in which I show the entire process of buying air tickets online and tell you what you should pay attention to. If you prefer to read, then under the video there are detailed text instructions:

How to find and buy flights online on Skyscanner

1. Today we will be looking for a flight from Moscow to Thailand, but the same principles apply for any other flights.

It doesn't matter where you're flying from or where you want to land - Rome, London or Johannesburg.

2. Where. Fill in the first field “From”. This is one of the main advantages of Skyscanner - you can search for departures all over the country.

For example, you want to get from Russia to Thailand and you can fly from both St. Petersburg and Moscow. Then you simply type “Russia” in the first line.

The same applies to flights from Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. You can select your departure city or directly the departure country.

If you want to fly from Moscow, but the departure airport does not matter, then in the first line you should type “Moscow (Any)”.

Accordingly, if there is a need to depart from a specific airport, you can indicate its name, for example “Moscow Domodedovo (DME)”

3. Where. Fill in the second field “Where”. This is your destination. In this line you can also indicate the country, specific city or airport.

My favorite feature of Skyscanner is the ability to select “Everywhere” in the “Where” column, then the search engine will show all flights from the city you need around the world, sorted by cost.

4. Routes. You can check the “Only direct flights” box, then the search engine will find only non-stop flights.

You should also note whether you need a one-way or round-trip ticket. If you want to fly, for example, to Rome, and stay there to live, then it makes more sense to buy a one-way flight. To do this, put a mark in the “one way” column; if you need a round trip ticket, then mark the “round trip” box.

If planned difficult route. For example, Moscow - Bangkok - Phuket - Moscow, then select “Difficult route”

5.Dates. Select the departure date. Click on the calendar icon on the right. You can select specific dates on the calendar or, if the days of your trip are not fixed, click “All month” and see which days are cheaper to fly.

For example, flights on weekdays often cost less than flights on weekends. You can even search for “Cheapest month” and find out the cheapest tickets of the year.

6. We choose the return flight date using the same principle.

7. Passengers. We enter the number of adults and children (from 12 years old, up to 12 years old, up to 2 years old) and select a class - Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class. The cheapest is usually in Economy class. After that, click the “Find” button

8. Result. A window opens in which we see which cities in (in this case Thailand) we can fly to from Moscow.

In our example, in October 2016, the cheapest flight will be from Moscow to Phuket - a ticket with transfers will cost 359$ roundtrip. Ticket to Bangkok - 380$

If you check the “Only non-stop flights” checkbox, then Moscow-Phuket-Moscow tickets will cost $682

9. Prices. A calendar with prices appears. The left column shows the price of a return ticket, and the right column shows the price of a return ticket.

You need to select one of the days so that the final price appears for the dates that suit you, and then click on the “Show flights” button.

Please keep in mind that hundreds of thousands of people are searching and purchasing tickets at the same time as you, so the prices in the calendar and table are approximate. Data is updated daily and taken from the cache. In the time it takes you to look, someone else may buy it.

You can also switch the calendar to a table by clicking on the corresponding tab

10. Flight details. Next, a table appears with available flights and prices, as well as an indication of the airline operating the flight. I always look at the time of departure, arrival and duration of the transfer. To do this, you can click “Details”.

If the departure or arrival time is at night, I try not to buy such tickets, since in this case I will have to take a taxi and overpay at night rates.

If the transfer is too short (1 hour), I read other people’s reviews about the airport on the Internet. For example, in Minsk you can definitely make it in 1 hour, but you won’t be able to make a transfer to Mexico City in 1 hour, no matter how fast you run

11. Ticket reservation. If a ticket suits me in all respects, I book it; if not, I click “New Search” again, check the calendar, change dates until I find cheap air tickets that suit me in all respects.

After the necessary conditions are found, click “View”. A waiting window appears for a few seconds. During this time, Skyscanner redirects you to the agency or airline website. In our example it will be Sindbad, but in your case it could be any other resource with a lower price.

The essence of Skyscanner is to check the prices of all ticket agencies and airlines, and then show you who is the most profitable to buy an air ticket from. Myself Skyscanner doesn't sell anything, but only searches and compares suitable options.

Sometimes it is cheaper to buy a ticket on the website of the carrier airline, but more often - from ticket agencies. Skyscanner compares prices from airlines and agencies and sorts the results in ascending order of price.

If the difference in prices on the website of the airline and the ticket agency is insignificant, I recommend buying tickets on the website of the carrier airline.

12. Buying a ticket. After you go to the airline or agency website, you need to fill out all the fields.

The page may look different depending on which agency's website you end up on. Usually you need to indicate your Last Name, First Name in Latin like abroad, passport validity, country of issue, your nationality, telephone and email.

Be careful when filling out the form, especially when indicating first and last name in Latin. Often this data cannot be changed. They will send you an email to the email you provided. e-tickets, so please indicate your email.

13. Payment. We choose any method convenient for you, for example, a bank card, write the type of your card, card number (16 digits on the front side), expiration date, the name of the holder in Latin as it is indicated on the front side of the card, CVC code and click “Pay”.

Some sites may charge an additional commission for paying by card. Unfortunately, you cannot find out about this in advance until you fill out all the data. For example, on some sites you will have to pay an additional fee for paying with a Visa card. If you have Mastercard Debit, you won’t have to pay extra.

14.E-ticket. After you have paid for the tickets, they are sent to the email specified when filling out the data (see point 12).

I don’t even print electronic tickets, now in most cases it’s enough to have a passport with you or know the reservation number, but you can play it safe and print it or save it to your phone.

They look different. For example, like this:

15. Check in for your flight online. As a rule, a few days before departure, a link to electronic registration for the flight. To avoid standing in line at the airport, I always check in online. If I fly with low-cost airlines, I print it out boarding pass Houses. If I write regularly, I don’t print anything.

16. We check the condition of the armor. To do this, type into Google the name of the airline that operates your future flight; the first line will usually pop up the official website of the company we need.

We go in, select a language convenient for us and look for the words “Reservation”, “Manage reservation”, “My reservation” or something similar. These words may vary depending on the carrier.

After the section we need has been found, enter your last name in Latin and your reservation number (it is indicated on electronic tickets).

If we did everything correctly, we will end up in Personal Area, where we can find out the status of our flight or manage the reservation (cancel it, reschedule, etc., depending on the conditions of the fare at which the ticket was purchased).

Conclusion: For several years now I have been looking for and buying cheap tickets through, because there convenient search, and the agencies the search engine works with have a good reputation.

Skyscanner often redirects to the website of the airline itself, searches for low-cost airline flights and finds good discounts, and the flexible search by country and month is good news.

To ease my conscience, I also check prices from other search engines: . I’ll tell you what their advantages and disadvantages are another time.

How do you buy air tickets?

Convenient search engines for you! Sincerely,
