And I want a real Russian winter with all winter entertainment: real frosts, fluffy snow, skating, sledding and skiing, the construction of snow fortresses and towns and a cheerful celebration of the New Year under the real Christmas tree in the present forest.

And there is a way out: it is necessary to go anywhere, but in Lapland - the kingdom of the Snow Queen and in the habitat of Santa Claus. In one of the articles, I already talked about traveling with children and that, having visited this country, it is impossible not to visit where Santa Claus lives. This amazing place is far away in the north of the polar circle of 9 kilometers from the capital of Lapland - Rovaniemi in the village of Joulupukka (Joulupukin Pajakyla).

Mysterious and unique Lapland

Lapland is an inexplicable and fabulous province located on the territory of Finland, with fantastic nature and a unique culture, of course, in many respects we are close. We are also familiar with strong frosts, like the Finns, and we love winter fun since childhood.

But what can be seen in Lapland will undoubtedly cause many unexpected emotions. In these places with primitive nature with forests and mountains, many rivers and lakes, the client air, the crowds of tourists, dreaming, not only to enjoy local beauties, but also return to the distant fairy tale from childhood again.

And for children it is an opportunity to see live places that are already so much known from the books of Hans Christian Andersen and Swedish writer Selma Lagerlef. The adventures of Kaya and Gerda, the reindeer, who originates from Lapland, in the country of the Snow Queen and Heroes from the book "Wonderful Journey Niels with wild geese" in Lapland - the first acquaintance with this northern country, which, no doubt, requires continuation.

And let's start our journey with Rovaniemi

The history of this northern city, the largest in Europe in Europe, begins in the 15th century. It is located 8 kilometers from the polar circle, from Helsinki - 800 kilometers and St. Petersburg - 1025 kilometers. It is this northern city in winter becomes the most beloved children and adult resort of Lapland.

And it is easy to explain. These are just those places where it spends most of the time in concerns and prepare for Christmas holidays. Favorite New Year's Character - Santa Claus (Finnish - Joulupukka). After all, it is here, just a few kilometers from the city, there is a famous village of Santa Claus.

It is clear that Santa Claus is almost the same as our, but on the European manner. But the history of his occurrence is somewhat different. It is assumed that his prototype became Saint Nikolai: Santa - "Holy", Klaus - "Nikolai. This general Christian holy in life secretly helped poor people and children. And the tradition of giving gifts on St. Nicholas's Day later transformed into a tradition to give gifts to children for Christmas. And this with great pleasure makes modern Santa Claus.

According to the legend, the constant dwelling and the secret workshop of Santa, where Christmas gifts are preparing for children, are on Mount Korvatunturi. But, since it began to spread rumors about the secret place of his habitat among people, Santa Claus, so as not to be fully declassified, decided to declare people and chose to this place in the polar circle near Rovaniemi.

Here, in Lapland, in the small village of Santa justified his working residence, which is now known for the whole world. It comes here every day, takes visitors from all over the world, reads letters from all over the world (which can be sent to: Santa Klaus, 96930 Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi, Finland), and some of them find out what children dream of, and what gifts they are Waiting for Christmas.

But in fact, Santa Claus village appeared in 1950. And it was connected with a visit to these places of the wife of the American president Eleonora Roosevelt. To her arrival was built a small wooden house as a temporary dwelling of Santa. It remained until today's days and is located near the office of Santa Claus.

So somewhere far beyond the polar circle, among the forests and sparkling in the sun, the Santa village appeared many years ago. It is pleased that such a wonderful place is and to visit him at least once in life it is necessary.

Excellent conditions have been created for animals: spacious enclosures, good feeding and care. The zoo was stretched by a long strip, about 2.5 km, in the forest. Therefore, for children at the entrance to the zoo, you can take free stroller or sledge. Children usually give preference to sledding.

In addition to the zoo here, you can still visit the Children's Fairy Park the Castle "Mur-Moore" (or Elves Castle), in which the effects and elves make Christmas gifts for children, where you can enjoy tasty sweets of the local confectionery factory "Fazer" or a northern rare berry-cloudberry.

The zoo works daily. The time and cost of tickets depends on the season. From Rovaniemi to Ranua can be reached by car or by bus.

A trip to Finland is also good because we have a common border with this country. Therefore, the opportunity to go to Finland from the northwestern part of our country is very simplified. For example, from St. Petersburg there can be sent different types of transport.

The easiest way is to get to Helsinki on the high-speed train "Allegro" or by car, bus, plane and even on the ferry. Also from Russia can be reached by bus from Murmansk and Kandalakshi. Those who live in the central part of Russia can take advantage of the services of the Moscow-Helsinki company "Lion Tolstoy".

The second advantage of this tourist destination is the relative ease of visa design. Finns willingly give Russian visa tourists.
