Krabi khao lak distance. Which to choose, Phuket or Khao Lak? By public transport from Phuket airport to Khao Lak

Updated 11.19. Views 6394 Comments 11

Not so long ago I visited the Khao Lak resort, which for some reason is still not popular with our compatriots. I am sure that many still do not even know where Khao Lak is located on the map of Thailand, not that to visit there. In order to eliminate this injustice, I wrote this post, the town is nice and perfect for a relaxing holiday.

About Khao Lak resort

Short description

Khao Lak is a quiet and uncrowded resort even during peak season. Since there is little entertainment in it, the contingent is mostly pensioners. Therefore, if you need nightlife and constant activity, then Khao Lak is most likely not for you. There is only nature, waterfalls, a national park and that's it. But those who are looking for relaxation or who come with children, it seems to me, should like it here.

First of all, there are gorgeous beaches throughout the resort, and most importantly, they are not crowded. You can find smaller places (where it is good with a small child), you can go deeper. And you can walk along the entire length of the beach, which is what many vacationers do, there are kilometers for walking. I already wrote mine, I will not repeat myself.

There are 7 beaches / districts in total, but it makes sense to stay in only 4: Bang Niang, Nang Thong, Khao Lak, Khuk Khak. Arranged in descending order of infrastructure, and in the latter there is none at all, only the one that will be in your hotel. But in Bang Niang there is 7/11, and full of cafes and hotels for every taste, and in Nang Tong there is even a McDonald's :) Here's a selection.

Where is Khao Lak

Khao Lak is located on the mainland (not on an island) north of Phuket on the Adaman coast. And it's easier to get there from Phuket. That is, you can fly to Phuket airport and from there get to the resort. Moreover, going to Khao Lak from Phuket airport is about the same as to the southernmost point of Phuket, because there are often traffic jams in Phuket.

Look at the very bottom of the post at the map to make it clearer.

How to get to Khao Lak

There are several ways to get there. The easiest and fastest way when it comes to flying from Russia. If you arrive in Bangkok, it will take much longer to get there.

By car

The easiest way to get there is by car. Drive Khao Lak into the navigator (Google Maps or another program) and follow its instructions. If you get from Phuket, immediately after leaving the bridge over the bay, you need to keep to the left along 402 and then continue along the Adaman coast along Highway 4. Continue along the main road without turning off until you reach Khao Lak. The distance from Phuket airport to Khao Lak (Bang Niang) is about 80 km, and it takes no more than 1 hour 30 minutes to go, or you can get there in 1 hour if you don't stop anywhere and go quickly.

It takes much longer to get from Bangkok, as if you were traveling. After passing Chumphon, you will need to turn right onto Route 4006, and move along it to the Adaman coast to Route 4. Or go both Chumphon and Surat Thani, and immediately after Surat Thani go to the right onto Route 401, and move along it past until Adaman Coast and Trails 4.

It is necessary to rent through brokers and through them it is 2 times cheaper than directly. This is a life hack. I have booked multiple times through both, everything is great. All cars will be only from trusted international distributors, with insurances, contracts, no problems and divorces.

By taxi

Taxis are also easy to get to, but more expensive than a bus. Taxis can be taken either directly at the airport or simply on the island by contacting any street travel agency and ordering it. The price will be about 1800-2500 baht, depending on the car (minibus is more expensive) and the impudence of taxi drivers. In this regard, it is best to order in travel agencies, they have more or less fixed prices, they will not be named from the ceiling. Well, and if from the airport, then all the prices hang on the counter. Probably, you can bargain and find someone who will take you cheaper, but I don’t know how realistic this is. I'd rather order in advance via the Internet, but more on that below.

Transfer online

Alternatively, order a transfer online through or. For the price, everything is the same as a regular taxi, but in general there is a minimum of body movements, you will be met with a sign and taken by the hand. And it is convenient that you can book in advance via the Internet while sitting at home. Recommend!

I have already traveled on a transfer from this company and was completely satisfied with it. We were met with a sign, put in the car and taken to the hotel. Here.

By bus

From Phuket airport you need to take a minibus to the bus station (cost 100 baht), where you can buy a ticket for the Phuket - Khao Lak bus (cost 100 baht). You need buses to Surat Thani, Ranong, Chumphon, Takua Pa. Alternatively, take a tuk-tuk from the airport to the highway where buses run, and catch them there (this is faster than to the bus station). But personally, I do not like this method because it is completely incomprehensible from afar which bus is going, you may not have time to slow it down. Yes, and when he is already passing by, the sign is not always clear, maybe in Thai.

In the opposite direction, to get from Khao Lak to Phuket - get out on the highway and catch a bus towards Phuket. Everything is much easier here, because all the buses will just go there. If you need an airport, tell the bus driver and he will stop at the turn, from where they will take a tuk-tuk to the airport.

Khao Lak on Thailand map

I intentionally placed a map with beaches here, and not just one dot denoting a city, because all these beaches belong to Khao Lak. You can immediately estimate the geographic location and the approximate size of the resort. But! Let me remind you that it consists of several small villages and it is best to live in Bang Niang or Nang Tong. Moreover, the area called Khao Lak is not the most successful, but in principle the beach there is good, so you can stay in it.

Life hack # 1 - how to buy good insurance

It is unrealistically difficult to choose insurance now, therefore, to help all travelers. To do this, I constantly monitor forums, study insurance contracts and use insurance myself.

Khao Lak was the discovery of the year for me, despite the fact that I have already been to Thailand in many places. It sounds a little loud, but I did not expect that I would like it so much. Usually I do not go on vacation, but if the question arose of where to go for a week for a quiet vacation, then I would go there, although there are no "bounty" beaches and any special architecture ...

But there is sincere and uncrowded in comparison with Phuket and even Koh Samui, which are more like cities than lost tropical resorts. Khao Lak has the balance of the tourist infrastructure of the resort and at the same time a small number of people.

About Khao Lak

I was going to visit Khao Lak for a long time, I was wondering why it is not so popular, although it is located very close to the international airport. I had to fill the gap on the blog and write my own review and mini-guide. And since I also wanted to go on an excursion to and from, I managed to combine business with pleasure.

Now about Khao Lak there is already information on the network, including sites in Russian, not like 5 years ago, but bloggers still do not particularly like him. This is understandable, Khao Lak is more of a resort where you can have a good vacation, and not a place for wintering. There are no hospitals, no supermarkets, and you can count on one hand of housing for long-term rent.

On the other hand, not winterers, but ordinary tourists also usually go on vacation to the nearest Phuket, and not to Khao Lak, although it is not much longer to get from Phuket airport than to Nai Harn. Why? Apparently too quiet and calm, the place is not for those who love entertainment and nightlife.

Alternatively, visiting Khao Lak with excursions from Phuket is quite inexpensive. True, in excursions, the goal is not to see the beaches and the city, but to the temples and jungles in the area. Plus traditional elephant trekking and rafting. Just keep in mind if you want something like that.

And I will list theses what attracted me to the resort itself.

  • Quiet and relaxing stay
  • A minimum of parties, since the contingent is mostly European-retired
  • There are few people on the beaches, as the town is small and the beaches are long
  • The resort looks pretty cute, many of the cafes are nicely decorated and the buildings are cheerful colors.
Transport accessibility: mainland, so no ferry needed and not far from Phuket ()

Pretty cute alley - Bang Niang Road exit to the sea

For me, in general, it is very important that there are few people on the beach, so as not to feel like a herring in a bank, but at the same time I do not want to rest on a completely uninhabited island.

I know that not everyone will understand me, and perhaps such a desire for solitude is generally inherent only in the inhabitants of megacities. Although it may be my own pure understanding of relaxation, in which it is impossible to enjoy the natural beauty from the crowd.

And I will emphasize again. Perhaps it only seemed to me that way, but Khao Lak in some places (mainly Bang Niang) really looks a little different, somehow more civilized or something European than many other resorts. And this despite the fact that he is not very popular. For example, the beaches of Kata and Kata Noi in Phuket also look European, but there are many times more people there.

Areas and beaches of Khao Lak

About Khao Lak beaches

You must understand that there is no separate city called Khao Lak, this is the name of several villages / beaches combined into one resort. Moreover, most of the resort's territory is fields with palm trees, and the main attraction is Khao Lak National Park, that is, nature, waterfalls and the beaches themselves. Civilization is concentrated in literally a few places.

In total, Khao Lak has 7 districts / beaches, of which, in my opinion, only 3 will be of interest to most, just where there is enough infrastructure necessary for vacationers. And another beach (Khuk Khak) is interesting from the point of view of sometimes coming for a swim, since it is not far from the main areas, but not living there. Therefore, we will only talk about 4 beaches and areas:

- Khuk Khak Beach

The other 3 beaches (Pakarang Beach, Pak Weep Beach, Bang Sak Beach) are not for everybody's taste, there is little civilization, and the beaches are worse, the dominance of Thais on weekends (they come for a picnic). I was also on, which is located in the national park between Khao Lak beach and Bang Niang beach, but it is not particularly interesting.

My favorite areas are Bang Nian and Nang Tong. And given that they flow into one another without a clear border, then you can live there and there. Looking ahead, I will say that these two beaches themselves are very similar, but I would personally choose Bang Niang. Moreover, many believe that Nang Tong is the first in development at the resort, but it seemed to me that Bang Niang is such.

If we talk about the main areas of Khao Lak (where there is civilization), then Khao Lak beach I liked the least, despite its name with the same name with the entire resort.

Firstly, it somehow looks less neat because of the asphalt and gravel roads. Secondly, visually it is less beautiful there than on the same Bang Niang. Thirdly, there are not even 7-11 and in fact only one small street and a couple of lanes, the area is very small. That is, the choice of cafes, hotels, shops is minimal, there is nowhere to go.

In fact, there is no choice, only one normal minimarket, and even then this is not 7-11 after all. That is, for me, neither here nor there, and it’s not quite a wilderness to be alone, and civilization is not enough, since more than one. But perhaps someone will like this combination.

But the beaches here are excellent. That part of the beach, which is opposite the civilization, is fenced off from this line of casuarins, which create shade in the morning. Front line hotels have their poolside sun loungers right on the beach, such as the chic The Anda Mani Khao Lak By Epikurean Hotels & lifestyle with a very high rating.

If you go from Phuket, then, quickly passing Khao Lak beach and passing the pass, you will descend from the mountain to the Bang La On village. Honestly, I don't know if you need to know this name, because the beach is called Nang Tong. And the bus driver or taxi driver, if you tell them what you need in Khao Lak, will bring you here. This place is considered the center of the Khao Lak resort and the most developed, there is even a McDonald's.

The main civilization is located right on the highway, there are a lot of hotels, and there are 7-11, and a bank, and in general, when you drive in the dark in the evening, everything around glows, it seems that the whole city is around. This entire area is strongly stretched along the highway, and, accordingly, along the coast. The distance from the highway to the beach is less than, for example, in Bang Niang. Along the entire coastline there are first line hotels, highly praised by La Flora Resort & Spa Khao Lak , although this resort is removed from the epicenter of the infrastructure and almost borders on Bang Niang.

The southernmost part of the area is sometimes called Sunset Beach, either because it is good to see off sunsets there, or because there is Khaolak Sunset Resort situated. But you will not find such a beach on the maps, and there is no border between the beaches at all.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or specials on an excellent service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

Nang Thong beach is nice all over, I liked it. There are a lot of walking pensioners, two lighthouses, one on the shore, the second in the sea, quite often there are large stones in the water. ...

It is believed by many that the most infrastructurally developed beach is Nang Tong. But it seems to me that this information is outdated, Bang Niang is in no way inferior to him, except that there is no McDonald's. But there is a whole, even 2.

At the same time, Bang Niang is more compact, since it is much less stretched along the coast compared to Nang Tong. That is, approximately the same number of cafes and hotels are located on a smaller area, and you do not need to wind kilometers to get anywhere. Similarly, Bang Niang is not crowded even during peak season. All photos were taken by me at the end of January, and on the beaches it is postorny.

In general, if I were choosing where to stay in Khao Lak, then the hotel would be booked on this beach. Actually, this is what I did when I came to Khao Lak. In any case, it is not a problem to get to Nang Tong, the beach line is not interrupted at all, you can walk and walk, which is what many pensioners do here in the morning and in the late afternoon.

All civilization is concentrated on the highway and around the Bang Niang Road. It overlooks the beach and conventionally divides it into northern and southern parts. South part of about

Khuk Khak beach

Khuk Khak is the very beach where it would make sense to come sometimes, living in Bang Niang or Nang Thong, for the sake of almost complete solitude and relaxation. You begin to notice the absence of civilization immediately when you turn from the main road into the fields. You go, go, and around only palm trees, jungles and rare houses of local residents. Nothing more.

And only, having driven to the coastline, you come across several hotels and at least some kind of infrastructure, which, in fact, is represented by these very hotels. Moreover, there are literally several hotels for several kilometers of the beach, you can count on one hand.

If you leave Phuket for the mainland and follow Highway 4 north, in an hour you will find yourself in Khao Lak. Many people think that Khao Lak is one beach, which is not entirely true. Khao Lak is the name given to the coastal area around Mount Lak in Phang Nga province. There are a couple of villages here, and the coastline of more than 25 kilometers is divided into several beaches. First, it is worth telling a little about the Khao Lak area as a whole, so that you get an impression of it. This place is suitable for lovers of a relaxing holiday with the whole family or a romantic couple. There is no tumultuous here, only small bars with live music where you can sip a glass of beer or have an exotic cocktail accompanied by the sounds of a local band. Khao Lak is bustling in the November to April season, but during the monsoon season, when the waves hit the sea, the number of tourists decreases and some restaurants and shops are closed. Waves in the low season are of different heights, sometimes it is impossible to enter the water.

Khao Lak map in Russian

South Beach

South Beach (or South Beach) is the coastline south of Mount Lak. There are several hotels in the north of the quiet beach. Near them there is a tourist village with restaurants, cafes, shops and exchange offices. Of the sights, it is worth highlighting Ton Pling Waterfall and Khao Lak - Lam Ru National Park. If you wish, you can always take a 10 minute taxi ride to the village of La On.

Nang Thong Beach

Sunset Beach and Nang Thong Beach

If we talk about Sunset Beach, then there are no restaurants or cafes at all, except in hotels. Hotel guests walk to the village of La On. Literally 10-15 minutes - and you are there. You can walk along the beach, Sunset smoothly into Nang Thong, or walk along the convenient sidewalk along Highway 4. La On Village is located on the main road of Nang Thong Beach. There are many restaurants, cafes, bars, exchange offices, banks, massage parlors, even a couple of 7-Eleven minimarkets, as well as small private supermarkets and even McDonalds fast food.

Bang Niang Beach

Bang Niang Beach

The next beach is called Bang Niang. It is the most developed tourist destination in the Khao Lak area. Restaurants, bars, exchange offices, massage parlors, pharmacies, small private supermarkets and a 7-Eleven minimarket abound. The center of Bang Niang is the Tsunami Monument on Highway 4. From it towards the beach there is a street with many restaurants, bars, shops and guesthouses. In the Bang Niang area you will find Tsunami Museum, Drag Queen Shows, Thai Nightclubs and Markets - read about them below.

Khuk Khak Beach

The Khuk Khak area with the beach of the same name is suitable for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday. Hotels here can be counted on one hand. All of them are located away from highway number 4, so guests visit beach restaurants and massage parlors near hotels. The infrastructure of the main road is rather sparse, with islets of local restaurants and private minimarkets. However, the drive to the neighboring beach is no more than 10 minutes. Of the sights, you can visit the butterfly park and the morning market, which you can read about below.

Between Bang Niang and Khuk Khak beaches

Pakarang Beach

To the north of Khuk Khak is Pakarang Beach, named after the cape. At low tide, the sea goes far, I think that is why there are very few hotels here. The beach is perfect for those who like long walks. There are no shops in this area at all, you will only find a couple of beachfront restaurants.

Pakweep Beach and White Sand Beach - Pakweep Beach and White Sand Beach

On the northern side of Pakarang Cape is Pak Weep Beach, a gorgeous white sand coastline. The southernmost part of the coast is also called White Sand because of the color of the sand. On the coast, you will find several beach cafes, massage, in addition, from the hotels on the northern part of Pakwip beach you can walk to the main road, where there are rare islands of local restaurants and minimart. Sai Rung Waterfall is worth visiting.

Bang Niang Beach

Bangsak Beach - Bangsak Beach

The northernmost beach in Khao Lak is called Bang Sak. There are several beachfront restaurants and massage parlors, as well as a couple of private minimarkets on the highway. From this area, the closest is to go to the village of Nam Khem, where the Tsunami Memorial is located, and to the old city of Takuapa, where an authentic fair is held, read about it below.

Bang Niang Beach Market

Shops in Khao Lak

There are no large shopping centers in Khao Lak, only plazas and small private supermarkets. A large cluster of such shops on the beaches of Nang Thong and Bang Niang: Nang Thong Supermarket, Nangthong Park Plaza, Khao Lak Center Point. Here you can buy everything you need for your vacation: sunscreen, beachwear and shoes, some souvenirs. The nearest shopping malls are a 40-minute drive from the center of Khao Lak - Big C in the new part of Takua Pa and Tesco Lotus in Khok Kloi.

Markets in Khao Lak

On Bang Niang Beach near 7-Eleven, opposite the turn to Tsunami Memorial Park with a warship, there is a large market three times a week where you can buy snacks, Thai food, fruits, beachwear, shoes and accessories. It is called Food Street or Bang Niang Market. It works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 10 pm.

Takua Pa old town

Another Sunday Food Market on the outskirts of Bang Niang is held on Sundays. It sells ready-made Thai food, fruits, vegetables and seafood. He's easy to find in the new Build Factory nightclub. The market is open from 16:00 to 22:00.
Bang Niang Food Market Coordinates: 8.678094, 98.252521

In the Khuk Khak beach area, there is a morning market selling fruits, vegetables and other goods. It is easy to find it near the bus station, which is marked on all maps. The market is open from dawn to noon.
The coordinates of the morning market in Khuk Khak: 8.686740, 98.253616

One of the most unusual markets is located in the old part of Takua Pa. A little higher, I wrote about the Big C shopping center, it is another 10 minutes drive from it to the Sunday market. The old town of Takua Pa is famous for its history dating back to. It is also called the younger brother of Phuket Town for the streets in the Sino-Portuguese style and the special atmosphere that the locals have preserved. On Sundays, vendors of sweets and other dishes made according to recipes from centuries ago, vendors of antiques, display their tables on the streets of the old town of Takua Pa from 15:00 to 22:00, and residents of the surrounding areas flock to the evening promenade. This market is very similar to which is a kind of Arbat in Phuket. The Takuapa Fair is only held during the high season from November to April.

Transportation in Khao Lak

From the village of La On (Nang Thong Beach), during daylight hours, a songteo, an open bus with two shops, runs north along Highway 4. The fare between the beaches is only 50 baht per person. In addition, you can always find a local taxi. See the photos below for the fare for a car - these are the official rates from the center of Bang Niang Beach (near the Tsunami Museum and Market).

Taxi prices in Khao Lak

Khao Lak nightlife

There are not as many high-end establishments in Khao Lak as in Phuket. If you are going to Thailand to have fun, it is better to choose discos, bars and. Nightlife in Khao Lak is concentrated in the Nang Thong and Bang Niang Beach areas. There are many bars with live music: Happy Snapper Bar, Monkey Bar, Mr Chay's Bar, WonderlanD Bar and others. In the Bang Niang area, on Highway 4, there are two Thai nightclubs Zantika and Build Factory. they are far from the European concept of nightclubs. These are rather big fun bars with live music and tables around which it is customary to dance. If you come there with a company, it will be interesting. In the very center of Bang Niang there is a transvestite show Moo Moo Cabaret Show, where colorful performances are held every day at 21:45.

Samet Nangshe viewpoint

Attractions Khao Lak

There are quite a lot of attractions in the province of Phang Nga where you should go. From here it is convenient to get to the island and the Surin Islands, rafting on a bamboo raft or rafting in an inflatable boat, or go to. In Phang Nga, you can visit, or explore the famous Stomach of the Elephant cave or see it with numerous islets. I recommend meeting the dawn at the Samet Nangshe viewpoint. In the Khao Lak area itself, there are several waterfalls, elephant farms, a Thai boxing school, a national park with jungle paths and an observation deck. And a little to the south along the coast there are hot springs and other natural attractions. For more information about all the interesting places around Khao Lak and in the province of Phang Nga, read the links and see them on the map.

Russian tour operators for some reason bypass Khao Lak resort side. Most of our compatriots get there on their own. Unlike the Scandinavians, who took a liking to it, and, apparently, determined the general atmosphere there with their reserved Nordic nature. The most interesting thing is that getting to Khao Lak is not much more difficult than to those trampled by tourists.

For those seeking peace

Tours to Khao Lak- this is a real find for those who want to just have a rest, and not "come off in full". A small number of tourists, among whom prevailing Scandinavians, restrained on emotions, secluded beaches, not particularly developed entertainment infrastructure. Most of all, this town is similar to the beginning of the tourist boom that began 25 years ago.

The main sights of Khao Lak- This is a multi-kilometer beach coast and lush tropical forests that frame it. No one will prevent you from meeting the dawn in romantic silence, and in the evening to see the sun going beyond the horizon of the Indian Ocean. You don't have to worry about queuing up in advance at the nearest restaurant or cafe. It's always free there, and Thai cuisine is the most authentic.

Beaches

Khao Lak is a resort area stretching from the town that gave it its name, as much as thirty kilometers north along the Phet Kassem Road. The first on the way from Phuket will be Ban Khao Lak village and Khao Lak beach. Further to the north are: Ban La On village and Nang Thong beach, Bang Niang and Khuk Hak villages, each of which has its own beach of the same name.

Nang Thong Beach and Bang Niang Beach

If only a serene beach holiday seems overly boring to you, then you should stop at Nang Thong Beach and Bang Niang Beach. At the latter, tourists are even invited. In general, all the usual tourist infrastructure - bars, restaurants, lounges, and bicycles - is present there. It's believed that the best beaches of Khao Lak are located there. Of course, compared to or Patong, it is extremely quiet there, and getting lost on the same Bang Niang street with a dozen drinking establishments is impossible. Priestesses of the oldest profession work there, so the fad "" in the recreation program can be left.

Nang Thong Beach

Bang Niang Beach

Khuk Khak Beach

Khuk Khak Beach, in our opinion, is one of the most beautiful in Khao Lak. At the same time, it is the most deserted (people can only be found near hotels) and remote from those described above. For this reason, Khuk Khak is the perfect choice for lovers of secluded relaxation. Also here is one of the best hotels in this resort - The Heaven Khao Lak.

Pakarang Beach

Pakarang Beach is mostly popular with professionals because it offers ideal conditions for this sport. The rest of the beach is large enough and sparsely populated. Not far from the surf spot is the rather comfortable Palm Galleria Resort.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is the southernmost part after Khao Lak Beach and is located directly under the hill, near which, in turn, there are several hotels with magnificent views of the bay. For couples in love, we recommend booking a cozy hotel Sensimar Khaolak Beachfront Resort located right on the beach.

Pak Weeb Beach

Pak Weeb Beach, which is a continuation of Pakarang Beach, is very popular among tourists, but there is no clear border between them. It is distinguished by the presence of vegetation right by the sea, quieter waves, and also low population. Thanks to its white sand, it has a second name - White Sand Beach.

Bang sak beach

Bang Sak Beach is located almost in the very north of Khao Lak, near the town of Takua Pa. The place is quite contrasting in terms of population - there are both desert places and rather inhabited ones. There are also many comfortable hotels and small restaurants in the surrounding area offering savory ones. A visit to the Haadson Resort is highly recommended.

On the other five beaches, the atmosphere is peaceful and patriarchal. Just outside the doorstep of the hotels, there is a forest or clean beach sand. But if this is not enough for you, then go to the island of Koh Kho Khao. It is located five minutes by sea from Bang Sak Beach. The length of its beach line is almost fifteen kilometers, and there are no more than a dozen hotels. In there it is quite possible to feel like Robinson and yearn for Friday.

Cultural program

Sights. They are all natural and natural. Khao Lak National Park, waterfalls, pristine beaches. Only the monument dedicated to the victims is man-made. This is a police boat left on the shore. It is a natural disaster that explains the fact that most of the man-made objects of Khao Lak are not more than ten years old. Excursions to Khao Lak are offered by local travel agencies, but you can also go around them yourself.

Khao Sok National Park

Shops and shopping. This type of entertainment is only possible in Bang Niang or Nang Tong, but it will not bring much joy to the fans-shopaholics. There are few large chain stores in the villages, even with 7-Elevens that are widespread throughout Thailand - problems. The markets in Khao Lak offer the usual selection of traditional Thai souvenirs, local “goodies” at reasonable prices. If you can't go without shopping, then go to and visit the Central Festival shopping center.

Local market

Entertainment. The most significant places to have a full blast on Khao Lak are Moo Moo Cabaret, a transvestite show, and Zantika Pub, a nightclub. They are located on the main street of Bang Niang. The beaches offer jet ski rentals and other beach activities. There are massage parlors, you can go to a bar or restaurant. If there is absolutely nothing to do, then at night you can launch Chinese lanterns into the sky.

Weather

Best weather in Khao Lak observed during our Russian winter. From November to mid-March it is not particularly hot, just over thirty. Sometimes it rains refreshingly. The heat and great dryness begins in April and continues until June. If you want to spend your summer vacation in the bathhouse, then come from May to October. The temperature is over thirty, it rains almost every day (more often at night). Exotics add strong winds that drive high waves. The water temperature in any season is above 27 degrees.

Hotels

Holidays in Khao Lak cannot be called budget. Accommodation and hotels, which can be considered quite comfortable, are somewhat more expensive than, for example, on, although cheaper than in. The best Khao Lak hotels are located in Bang Niang and Nan Thong. Cheaper than a thousand baht, there are no rooms. There are also proposals for three thousand. The farther from the water, the cheaper. Along the coast there are, for the most part, hotels that look like bungalows. They are the most expensive. Three- and five-story guesthouses are located within a five-minute walk from them, which offer rooms for 400-500 baht. You can view hotel options on the widget below or search for others on websites and. The secrets of finding cheap and comfortable hotels are outlined
