Ice Eye Lake in WOW. Lake of Ice Shackles Lake of Ice Shackles 3.3 5 Hit

Lake Eye of Ice or OLO in WoW is an open combat zone located in the center of Northrend mainland. Players will have to capture strategic points, destroy towers and fortresses, control equipment, and complete missions for commanders. The ultimate goal in the OLO game is:

 • capture the relic for the attacking side
 • relic protection for the defending side

In the battle on the Lake of Ice Grasp, 120 people can participate on each side. Despite the fact that this is an open -zone, in order to enter the battle it is necessary to queue up. The fight starts approximately every 2.5 hours and lasts up to 30 minutes. At the beginning of the battle, one of the sides currently controlling the fortress begins to defend it. Another seeks to capture the fortress. The capture of the fortress is carried out if the enemy makes his way to the relic and captures it. To do this, you need to use bombs or equipment to destroy the walls.

A system of ranks is implemented on the OLO, which are obtained for a certain number of kills. A higher rank allows you to get more powerful siege engines and more marks for winning the battleground. While this battlefield cannot be fully organized, being able to play the same raid with the best players will allow you to win quick victories and hone your playing skills.

Lake Frozen Tactics

The tactics in the OLO are quite simple: you need to capture military factories as quickly as possible in order to gain access to heavy equipment. At the same time, the attacking side must purposefully break through to the enemy's fortress, and the defending side must destroy the southern towers in order to minimize the battle time. Skillful tactical moves are rarely obtained due to the difficulty of managing such a mass of players, but especially talented leaders still somehow channel energy in the right direction =).

Contested territory: Ice Eye Lake (Wintergrasp)

In the world of World of Warcraft, there are many interesting and incomprehensible for beginners. With the release of WotLK, a lot of content and interesting things have been added. One of these innovations has become a global PvP location: Lake of Ice Eyes. The event periodically takes place there: Battle for Lake of Ice Grain. When an inexperienced player gets there, he simply does not know what to do and how to behave. Therefore, in this guide I will try to clarify and tell the features.

How to get to Icegrain Lake?

In patch 3.2, the mechanics of hitting the OLO have changed slightly. Now a limited number of people take part in the battle on OLO. You can get into the lake at the OLO 15 minutes before the start through the PVP interface (button "H" in English). Also, those who were on the OLO before the start are queuing up.

But at the same time, the number of players is limited to 120 people from each side. There may be more applicants for the GEL, so a random selection is made among the players in the queue. There is a small priority for players of 80 lvl, but everyone can participate.

You can see when the next battle will begin from the PVP interface or by looking at the map while in Northrend.

Quests on the Lake of Frozen Grains?

On the Lake, you can take several quests, you can find everything here. Quests give experience, gold, honor and keeper shards. It is advisable to take quests at the beginning of the battle (many of them are daily), during the battle you will complete them. What you didn't do - you will finish it in three hours with the next battle.

With patch 3.1, quests have changed from daily to weekly. The reward for them has been increased, but they can be completed once a week. The update seems to be on Tuesday. But for one quest they give 10 fragments and 3xxx honor.

We will discuss below what to do with honor and shards.

The meaning of the battle for Lake of Frostseag

There is a fortress, which is the main target of the battle. There are defenders and there are attackers (horde or alliance). The one who captured the fortress in the previous battle defends the fortress in the next one. The point is to capture the Titan relic when attacking and prevent it from being captured during defense.

Types of combat and defense vehicles in Icegrain Lake

On the defenders there are defensive cannons that stand in the towers. These cannons can be destroyed, but after a while they are restored again, the towers can be destroyed and will not be restored until the end of the battle. Losing three towers reduces the battle time by 10 minutes.

In addition, there are catapults and other siege weapons. Their number depends on the number of captured plants. Initially, defenders can build up to 8 siege engines. The attackers should occupy the factories. Control over each of the factories gives +4 vehicles.

Catapults are effective against infantry and not very effective against walls and towers.

Destroyers and Siege Engines are good at breaking walls and are not effective against infantry. For this reason, they require infantry cover.

How to build catapults at Icegrain Lake?

At the beginning of the battle, you cannot build a catapult. To do this, you need to earn a rank by killing 10 (in my opinion) members of the opposite faction. After that, go to the factory, talk to the goblin, he builds a siege weapon for you, after which you get into it (this is automatic). If your side already has a maximum of siege weapons, then you can either wait or launch a melee attack.

The higher your rank, the more powerful siege engines you can build.

By the way, the murder of NPCs is also considered at the moment. For this reason, do not rush to kill the guards and kill them at the beginning of the battle.

General strategy of the battle at the Lake of Frozen

First of all, ask for a party in the raid in the general channel. With patch 3.2, raids are created automatically. Raid always works more efficiently, and the chances of winning the battle are much higher. You also need the coordination of raids, otherwise you will get a herd of rams that rush around the GEL.

For attackers:

Find out the tactics from the RL and the objectives of your raid. Try to get the second rank in order to be able to build destroyers and precipitates.

Please note that the number of vehicles is limited, so it is better to refrain from building catapults when attacking a fortress. Better to build destroyers and siege machines. If you have not yet reached the second rank and cannot build them, ask someone to build you a car.

Don't run alone. It is more effective to act in large groups. To attack, it is better to bunch 5-10 siege engines first and hit one point.

If your siege weapon is broken, continue the melee battle. After death, take a new siege weapon. This is useful for the team, melee attacks are not much weaker than siege weapons, they just cannot break walls. But enemies and their siege weapons can be broken.

If you didn't get a car or you can't build it - go cover the cars. The support of the infantry is very necessary.

The main task is to get inside the fortress and break the main gate leading to the titan relic. After that, you need to check the ball (relic of the titans).

For the defenders:

The defensive weapon can be occupied with a zero rank. Therefore, first of all, take a free defensive weapon (cannons on the ledges of the walls).

Shoot at anything that moves and looks like an enemy. Leave your post as a last resort. It happens that at one moment they attack the eastern tower, and then sharply throw the attack to the unprotected western side. Listen to the chat, and follow the markers on the map. If you are lucky with an intelligent leader, then coordinated actions are the key to success.

Also, an important task is to break the attackers' towers. This will shorten the battle time by 10 minutes, and it will be easier to hold the fortress. When capturing towers, follow to the south, occupy factories, build cars and go to destroy towers.

It is also important to recapture factories from the attackers. This will reduce the number of their vehicles, and the attacks on the fortress will be weaker.

When defending against infantry, catapults are effective. Throw holes in the walls with plague barrels, burn the infantry with fire.

Why is all this needed?

The main thing is that it is very interesting! But a small bonus - in one battle you can fill a lot of honor and shards of the keeper. You can take a good set for an honor. for shards of stones for improving things, recipes for Juvilliers (there are a lot of recipes), munts and much more. Thus, you simply knock yourself out the currency to buy things, while getting a lot of fun. The merchant stands on a mammoth in the fortress. To purchase, you need the fortress to be under your control. For medals from the lake, you can buy good PVP epics.

Yes, and it is better to go to the lake from lvl 80, although lvl 77 players can also play, and being in vehicles they are no less effective, it will just be more difficult to raise the rank.

Unfortunately, only half of the players who got into this pvp zone know what it is for and how to win on it, while the rest think that the Lake of Ice Shackles is a pasture where you have to come every 2 and a half hours.

Let's start with the fact that everyone is whining that the near boobies have made a pvp location where it is not realistic to play because of the terrible lags. Believe me, the bliz are far from idiots, if everyone knows the essence and idea of this pvp zone, then the lags will be much less.

The battle on the Lake of Ice Shackles, as I noted above, takes place every 2 and a half hours, plus or minus 15 minutes. One faction protects the fortress of ice chains, and the relic stored there, while the second is trying to recapture the fortress.

There are 4 workshops on the territory of the lake of ice shackles

 • western workshop (31/38)
 • oriental workshop (65/39)
 • workshop in the west of the park (34/68)
 • workshop in the east of the park (66/68)

In the workshops, you need to order combat vehicles to destroy the walls of the fortress.

Each siege weapon requires a certain rank, which each player can obtain by killing players of the other faction, or guards.

And now the most important thing about the workshops!

Each workshop gives you the opportunity to order 4 cars!
Having 2 workshops at your disposal, you can order 8 machines, having 4 you can order 16 machines. What is not less important! It is much harder to repel an attack from 16 vehicles than from 8 vehicles.
From the above, it follows that the Workshops are important strategic objects! And it requires no less attention than a fortress for which everyone is fighting.

Now let's discuss which factories are of great value.

 • The western workshop and the eastern workshop are located closer to the fortress, it is much more profitable for the attacking side to create cars there and from there go to destroy the walls.
 • The workshop in the west of the park and the workshop in the east of the park are located in the immediate vicinity of the Towers belonging to the attacking side, and it is beneficial for the faction defending the fortress to order siege weapons from these workshops to destroy the towers.

And what are these towers for?
If the defending side manages to break all 3 towers, then the time allotted to capture the fortress is reduced by 10 minutes. This means that the attacking faction must defend these towers.

And from the above, it becomes clear that there are 8 points on the map, for which you need to fight. The faction, which understands this faster, begins to win, while the second, following its herd instinct, continues to sit in the fortress, or stand outside the gate and get stuck in lags.
So let's start thinking and thinking strategically. Distributed over the territory of the Lake of Ice Shackles, reduce the load on the server, lag will become much less, and it will be more pleasant to play.

Unfortunately, many of those who play WWII have no idea that you can read a lot of interesting things on the forums. But I'm sure that a few people will read this article and the herd will thin out.
I have described the most important, but there are still many interesting things that can help to win the battle for the Lake of Ice Shackles.

Ice Eye Lake is the smallest location in Northrend, bordering Sholazar Basin, Dragonblight, and Icecrown. This zone is a PvP location, so PvP mode is automatically enabled for all players in it. This rule does not change anything for characters on PvP servers, but for players with RP and Normal worlds it may seem unusual, albeit fair. You can get to the Lake of Ice Eyes using a personal flying vehicle, which makes access for players below level 77 to this location almost impossible; however, low-level characters can still make their way to the lake using the Warlock's services or the portal opened in Dalaran.

Preparing for battle
An hour before the start of the battle for the Lake of Frozen Eyes, a special NPC living in Dalaran (Sorcerer Bradin for the Alliance and Master Surdiel for the Horde) announces the imminent battle. He will repeat his battle call 30, 15, 10 and 5 minutes before the start of the battle to warn all players in Dalaran that access to the Lake will soon be available. When the battle begins, a portal opens in the Silver Enclave (Alliance) and Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde), allowing players to enter the battlefield with ease.

rules

The faction that won the previous battle for Lake of Frostgrass defends Frostgrain Keep, while the opposing faction attempts to capture it.
Both factions can destroy or capture goblin towers and workshops scattered throughout the area. To capture a fortress, the attacking faction must break down the walls of the fortress using siege weapons.
After capturing the Fortress of Frozen Eye, the faction controls it for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, after which a new battle begins, which lasts until the other side captures the fortress, but no more than 30 minutes. The state of Frostseag Lake can be viewed on a map of Northrend. If the battle is not going, then the sign of the Horde or Alliance will be drawn on the location, depending on who controls the Lake; if you see a PvP sign, then the battle for the Lake of Frozen Eye is in progress.
If you want to know how much time is left until the next battle for the Lake, you can either talk to your faction's NPC in Dalaran or enter the zone.

Rank
Upon entering the location, you receive the title of Recruit. After killing 5 players of the opposite faction or 5 NPC guards, you get the rank of Corporal, which allows you to buy and manage Catapults from the goblin workshops. After killing 10 players, you gain the rank of First Lieutenant, which allows you to buy and operate Destroyers and Siege Engines.
The number of Badges of Honor of the Lake of Frozen Grains you receive directly depends on the rank you received during the battle. After patch 3.0.8, you receive 1 Badge of Honor for the rank of Recruit, 2 for the rank of Corporal, and 3 for the rank of First Lieutenant.

Game process
The Battle for Lake of Frozen Eyes takes place as a standard siege. The task of the attacking side is to capture the fortress before the battle ends. Defenders need to prevent this. After the attackers capture the fortress, the battle immediately ends, and control of the fortress passes to the victors.
The attacking side must reach a large orange sphere (relic) inside the fortress. One of the players must activate the sphere within 10 seconds (an action similar to capturing the flag on other battlefields). If he manages to do this, then the battle is considered over in favor of the attackers. The activation of the relic can be interrupted by dealing damage.
On the way to the relic, the attackers will have 3 walls that they will have to destroy. The first wall runs along the outer perimeter of the fortress: you can break it anywhere, thereby breaking through into one of the three outer courtyards. The outer courtyard in front of the fortress is empty - only NPCs live there. In the east and west outer courtyards are goblin workshops supplying machines for the defending side. Next, the attacking side must break into the courtyard, where there are higher level NPCs. And finally, the last obstacle is the massive gates of the fortress itself. After this obstacle is also overcome, the attackers gain access to the relic.

Towers
The fortress has 4 towers located in the corners formed by the intersection of the walls. The attacking side has at its disposal 3 towers in the southern part of the location. For each tower destroyed by the attacking side, the defending side receives bonus honor points.
Turrets are installed in the towers, with the help of which players can destroy players of the opposite faction and their vehicles. These turrets deal serious AoE damage (up to 5000 damage with a good hit) and fire with a small delay, which makes them indispensable for defense. Turrets can be destroyed by siege vehicles or players; after a certain period of time, they appear again.
Since patch 3.0.8, each of the towers belonging to the attacking side gives a buff that adds 5% to all damage done; this buff can stack up to 3 times for a total additional 15% damage. If the defending side destroys the tower, then this bonus goes to it. This system was introduced to assist the attackers in capturing the fortress, and also to give the defending side an incentive to leave the walls of the fortress.
When all three towers are destroyed, the battle duration is reduced by 10 minutes. In most cases, this leads to the end of the battle, since by the time the third tower is destroyed there is usually less than 10 minutes left before the end of the battle.

Goblin Workshops
Each faction has 2 workshops that cannot be captured by the enemy. For the defending side, these 2 workshops are located inside the fortress itself; to get out of the fortress, driving the car, you need to use the teleport. On the attacking side, workshops are located between the three towers in the southern part of the location. They can be destroyed by vehicles driven by players of the opposite faction; workshops will not appear again during the battle.
2 more workshops are located closer to the fortress. At the beginning of the battle, they belong to the defending side, but can be captured by the attackers. Capturing workshops is the same as capturing towers in Hellfire Peninsula and the Eye of the Storm; the side, the majority of which are near the workshop, will eventually take over it. Capturing these workshops not only allows you to build machines closer to the fortress, but also increases the total number of machines available for production. At the moment, these workshops can only be destroyed by representatives of the faction that does not control the Lake of Ice Eyes; if the workshops are under the control of the attacking side, then the defending side cannot destroy them, it can only capture them.

Cars

The hallmark of Ice Eye Lake is siege weapons that can be used to destroy buildings and towers.
If you want to build a car, you need to get the rank of Corporal or higher (the process for getting ranks is described above). Once a vehicle is created, any player can drive it. The machines are created in the goblin workshops that belong to your faction. These workshops can be captured or destroyed by players of the opposite faction.

The main purpose of creating siege weapons is to destroy objects such as walls, towers and goblin workshops; also with their help, you can destroy cars controlled by players of the opposite faction. The cars have quite high health points, but they are very poorly armored, which allows them to be destroyed with regular attacks. Often, a player without any tools can destroy an enemy vehicle faster than a player controlling a turret or other siege vehicle.

Catapults throw barrels with contagion along a ballistic trajectory, which, when bursting, inflict small periodic damage over the area, thereby damaging players, the vehicles and structures they control. They can also create a wave of fire, damaging players and the vehicles they drive in a cone in front of the Catapult; buildings are not affected by this attack.
... Destroyers throw burning boulders in a ballistic trajectory that inflict moderate damage to buildings, players, and vehicles they drive. They can also use a ram that deals damage in a cone in front of them to all players, vehicles and buildings. Destroyers' passengers can be attacked, but they are able to attack and defend themselves.
... Siege engines also use a ram to deal damage in a cone in front of them, they do maximum damage to buildings with this attack. They also have a cannon, which is controlled separately by one of the passengers. This cannon throws huge boulders along a ballistic trajectory, causing great damage. The passengers of the Siege Engine cannot be attacked, but they themselves cannot attack while they are inside the vehicle.
... Frostgrass Lake Shredder, Frostgrain Lake Fighter, and Frostgrasp Bomber are not currently in the game. These machines may be accessible in a future content patch; perhaps they still exist, but they require a title that is not yet available. On January 11, 2009, one of the players posted on the American forum of the game information received from the GM, according to which these cars will definitely not be added in the current patch (3.0.8).

Icegrain Lake & PvE
Control over the Lake of Frozen Eye also affects the PvE component of the game.
When your faction controls the Lake, you will receive Stone Guardian Shards from every boss in Northrend dungeons. These shards can be used to purchase PvP gear and jewelry recipes. The faction that controls the Lake also gains access to a raid dungeon, the Crypt of Arkavon, located inside the Icegrain Lake Fortress. Like other raid dungeons, Crypt of Arkavon has Normal and Heroic modes.
Northrend ore and grass, as well as Crystallized Elements, can be found in Icegrasp Lake. These elements are dropped by certain element types; any type of elementals can be found in the Lake. Also, you can meet more powerful elementals of each type - Graves, which are guaranteed to leave 1 element and up to 3 more elements after their death. The tombs are only visible to members of the faction that controls Lake Frozengrass.
The Northern Lotus can also be found in its pure form in the Lake of Frostgrass.
