The towers did not manage to deceive time and completely keep their walls intact, but you should not miss the opportunity to climb to their top. From the embankment opens spectacular view of the golden seashore, which is filled with people in the summer.

Paseo Maritimo stretches along the city beaches, but even in cold weather, the promenade is very busy tourist spot with many cafes and restaurants where you can taste traditional Valencian dishes. Various sculptures and monuments were erected along the embankment, which is an additional decoration of this picturesque place. Toward evening, the embankment turns into one of the noisiest places in the city with open-air discos.

One of the main features and at the same time the sights of Valencia was the Turia River Gardens (Jardín del Turia). This is a public city park, the area of which is 110 hectares, and the length of the park exceeds 7 km. The history of this city park is extremely interesting. It was founded in 1986 after the floods in Valencia in the 1960s, which destroyed large parts of the city and resulted in numerous casualties. We arrived in Valencia at 10 am. For an hour and a half we had a sightseeing tour of the city and then free time until sunset. Time to visit Valencia June 4th. After a brief acquaintance with the city, we were left alone with him in Plaza Ayuntamiento (Ajuntament). We immediately decided to go to the aquarium, which is located in the City of Arts and Sciences, which is located at the bottom of the Turia River. Dried river. Now, in the place where it flowed, a beautiful alley with bridges, parks, flower beds and playgrounds has been built.

In the City of Science and Art in Valencia, we were primarily interested in the aquarium. This is one of the most interesting places that is a must. The fact is that at one time we did not get into the Lisbon Aquarium, but we really wanted to look at the fish, rays and sharks. At Plaza Ayuntamiento, we decided to take a taxi to get there quickly, because, in addition to the Valencia Aquarium, we wanted to get to know the city better and see a few more sights. So, in order to hail a taxi, he had to be found. The issue was resolved very simply, we approached the policeman and simply asked for a taxi. Somehow, in broken English, he explained that a taxi in Valencia can be hailed right on the road with a simple wave of his hand, after which he himself went to the side of the road and stopped the first checkered car that came to us. The driver was told "oceanographic" (Oceanografico), he nodded and we drove off. We drove ten minutes from Plaza Ayuntamiento to the aquarium and paid 7 euros on the counter. In general, traveling around Spanish cities by taxi is very convenient and not expensive.

First we walked around the City of Arts and Science itself. Grandiose monumental futuristic techno buildings with a swimming pool in the middle. The idea was to build something fundamental for a journey into the world of science, art and technology, thereby distinguishing Valencia from other Spanish cities and attracting more tourists from all over the world. The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia consists of five complexes:
- Hemisferic, a huge hall where three audio-visual performances are projected using lasers and lighting equipment;
- interactive museum of Prince Filipe, which presents the evolution of life and modern technologies;
- greenhouse;
- Palace of Arts Queen Sofia, where theatrical and musical performances take place;
- oceanarium.

Inside the city of arts and sciences.

A ticket to the Valencia Aquarium costs 27.9 euros per person. It consists of several zones where you can look at the fish of the Red Sea, Coral reefs and animals of the Antarctic. The result - money thrown away in vain, there is nothing to look at, except for sharks and rays.

You cannot swim in this pool. But what colorful performances take place here.

After visiting the aquarium, we returned to Plaza Ayuntamiento in the same way and headed to the central city market. The market is huge, there is nothing here: jamon, and all kinds of sausages, and sweets and fruits and vegetables. We only needed sweets.

Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary

No less interesting is the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary the Intercessor in Valencia in Spain (Festividad de la Virgen de los Desamparados), which is held on the second Sunday of May. These days, Valencia dresses in traditional costumes and a statue of the Virgin Mary is taken out of the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin. It is carried through the entire old part of the city, sprinkled with flowers and petals. In the evening, the statue is returned back to the cathedral. The procession is chic and solemn. (A small remark: they don’t wear the statue of the Virgin itself around the city, but its copy). The square of the Virgin Mary, on which the Rio Turia fountain stands, is the center of the historical part of Valencia. It is nice to just walk around the center of Valencia and take a look at the historical buildings.

Square of the Virgin Mary

Copy of the Chapel of Santo Calis. It contains the cup from which Jesus is said to have drunk at the Last Supper. This is the Holy Grail. The chalice has been recognized by the Catholic Church as authentic based on radiocarbon dating, which has shown it to be 2,000 years old. This is where you should definitely go.
