Olympic city Innsbruck
Many people prefer to travel to Innsbruck in winter, as the city has many ski slopes. But believe me, there is something to see there at other times of the year too. Circumstances brought me to Innsbruck in the spring. Driving along one of the hills, below I saw a panorama of a city with red houses, which seemed to be sandwiched in a valley by powerful mountains. But the city itself turned out to be very spacious.
Innsbruck is known to many as the place of Olympic glory. Few cities can boast of having hosted the Winter Olympics twice. A special museum dedicated to these events has been organized in Innsbruck. You will not find such a wealth of exhibits, all kinds of emblems, flags, badges, stamps, photographs, samples of medals even on the Internet. The museum is located on the main street in the so-called House with the Golden Roof - another treasure of the town. The entrance ticket costs about 4 euros.
As a woman, I was drawn to the Swarovski Crystal Museum. It is located underground in a cave, and the entrance is the green head of a giant, from whose mouth a waterfall flows. Entrance costs 8-10 euros. You will be shown the smallest and largest crystals in the world, which are listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
I was also struck by the Bell Museum, which houses exhibits from the 16th century. There is a workshop at the museum where new bells are still cast and old ones are restored.

From Innsbruck you can go to the Swarovski factory - there is a bus from the main station. The ticket price is 9 euros, cheaper for children, but I don’t remember how much exactly. The cost of 1 adult entrance ticket is 19 euros. The plant museum has free access to their website on the Internet, where you can get all the excursion information using a smartphone or tablet. Entrance to the surrounding park and the store is free.
Food and products
The wonderful Nordsee restaurant chain is suitable for lovers of fish and seafood. The prices are very reasonable. You need to pay attention to special offers. Pike perch with boiled potatoes cost us 9 euros per serving. Other fish dishes are about 12 euros. I recommend buying coffee beans from Austria. All coffee is of very good quality and inexpensive. So, I bought 500 grams of Tchibo for 4.70 euros, although there was a promotion. A very good grocery store is located right in the station building.
Souvenirs and other goods
From Innsbruck we usually bring chocolates - bars with different fillings (nougat, praline, champagne cream, etc.), a shop next to the Swarovski store (in the old town). Prices from 1.30 per bar.

A beautiful view of Innsbruck opens from observation platforms, which can be reached by the Hungerburgbahn - funicular. To go higher, you need to get to the final station and transfer to the cable car, but we didn’t. The cost of a funicular ride is 7.40 euros round trip per person.

You need to take an extra warm sweater for going up the mountains, maybe even a hat or ear band. A scarf wouldn't hurt either. In June there was snow in the mountains, so the temperature there was slightly above zero.
Where is the best place to stay?
You can live both in Innsbruck and in neighboring villages. For example, we lived in the village of Mutters. From there we went to the city on a beautiful red tram. Among the inconveniences: the last tram leaves at approximately 22.00. The two of us rented two rooms and a huge kitchen (all at our disposal) on the third floor of a traditional Tyrolean house. The owners lived here, but did not bother us at all.
What to do at the resort?
First of all, we need to talk about the Innsbruck Card. It is not cheap, but nevertheless it allows you to save money on ski lifts to the mountains and entrance fees to museums. A card for 3 days costs 47 euros. The card becomes valid from the moment of activation. So, in fact, it can be stretched over 4 days. In three days we managed to visit: a funicular and one ski lift, the alpenzoo zoo, the Swarovski Museum, the Mint Museum in the town of Hall in Tirol. Also included in the card is Ambros Castle and a city tour bus with audio guide. Travel with the Innsbruck Card on public transport around the city is free, and to the village of Mutters, where we lived, travel was also free. In addition to the benefits provided by the card, we also visited the Silver Adits in the town of Schwaz (the cost of an entrance ticket with a group in English is 16 euros). Before Schwaz we were just in Hall in Tirol. Another day we rode on an old reconstructed coal train to Lake Achensee. They then sailed around the lake on a ship. This excursion cost us the most, about 52 euros per person.
