How to get from Pattaya to Bangkok on your own: the cheapest way. How to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya - all options How to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya

Not wanting to depend on tour operators, many people plan to travel to Pattaya on their own. In this post, we want to give some tips on what you should pay attention to first of all when planning such a trip, as well as tell you in detail about everything that will make your trip as rich and interesting as possible.

Buying tickets and travel insurance

Any independent trip begins with the purchase of tickets and travel insurance. There is not much to write about here. I think that everyone has long known that it is best to look for cheap flights through the aviasales service, and for inexpensive insurance on - there you can choose the right insurance option for yourself that takes into account all your criteria for the upcoming vacation.

The only thing to do before buying air tickets is to search for last minute tours to Pattaya. Sometimes, even on an independent trip, it is more profitable to fly on a package tour (the cost of a last-minute trip to Pattaya may be lower than the cost of tickets to Bangkok). This happens quite often. In addition, if you are flying for a long time and have not yet decided on a place to live, then you will have at least a week to find accommodation. This will also save you a pretty decent amount of money.

And do not forget that a visa-free regime upon arrival in Thailand - for Russian citizens is issued for 30 days.

Transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya

We have already written about how to get to Pattaya on our own, but I will repeat it again.

Upon arrival at Bangkok International Airport, Suvarnabhumi, the first thing you need to do is go through passport control. In order not to waste time on its passage, fill out the immigration form in advance, which will be given to you on the plane.

After passport control, proceed further to collect your luggage and then take the escalator down one floor. There, at exit number 8, there is a bus ticket counter to Pattaya (the bus leaves every hour from 7 am to 21 pm).

Please note that dogs are not allowed on the Thai bus! If your pet is not in a special cage, you will have to take a taxi.

If you booked a hotel in Pattaya in advance, you can buy a ticket for 250 baht with delivery to the door of your hotel. If you have not yet decided on housing or plan to travel on foot, then buy a ticket for 134 baht. In this case, you will have four options where you can get off in Pattaya:

  1. At the turnoff from Sukhumvit to North Street;
  2. At the corner from Sukhumvit to Central Street;
  3. At the turnoff from Sukhumvit to South Street;
  4. In Jomtien, next to the Food Mart (beginning of Teprazit Street).

You can also take a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya. The average cost of a trip is 1200 - 1500 baht. It is better to book a car in advance (there are many groups on VKontakte for ordering a taxi in Bangkok). At the exit from the airport you will be met with a sign.

What area to live in?

Before planning an independent trip to Pattaya, you should decide on the area for living.

If you are planning a quiet family vacation in Pattaya, then Jomtien, Pratamnak and Naklua are more suitable areas for you. If you want to be in the very epicenter of Pattaya's nightlife, then choose the Central or South district (closer to Volkin Street).

Here is a small list of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the districts:

  • Jomtien. Quiet, calm area. There are many inexpensive hotels, guesthouses and condominiums. Many markets, shops, various cafes, bars and restaurants. Big beach. There is public transport.
  • Pratumnak. The cleanest and quietest area of Pattaya. Good infrastructure and beaches. But expensive housing. There is no public transport.
  • South Pattaya. Few good hotels, no beach, noisy, dirty, no public transport, few cafes and restaurants, far from the sea. The most popular hotels are in the immediate vicinity of Walking Street, such as the Camelot Hotel.
  • Central Pattaya. The noisiest area in Pattaya. Crowds of tourists, many shops, shopping centers, markets, bars, massage parlors, clubs, restaurants, etc. There are practically no cheap cafes. If you are going to Pattaya just to have a good “bulge out”, then settle somewhere in the central area.
  • Naklua. Quiet area, many Thai cheap cafes, there is a good beach, but it's a long walk to get to it. Almost all hotels located by the sea are very expensive.

In our opinion, if you are going to Pattaya for the first time, then it is better to settle in Jomtien or Pratamnak. Then you can decide for yourself where you like best.

We did a detailed comparison of the Jomtien and Naklua districts in the post "Where is it better to live in Pattaya".

Booking a hotel and looking for accommodation

Booking hotels in Pattaya is easy. To find a suitable option, use the roomguru.ru service or the hotel search form below:

When traveling on your own to Pattaya, it is better to book a hotel or guesthouse in advance, at least for a few days. So you will immediately have where to check in after arrival, and at passport control they may ask for the address of your residence in Pattaya.

If you are going to stay in Pattaya for no more than a month, then finding inexpensive housing in a condominium will be quite problematic, especially during the period from November to March. At this time, it is worth focusing on the amount of 18,000 - 25,000 baht per studio. Few people want to rent out their homes for a short period. So there are guesthouses and hotels. In a good guesthouse with a pool and air conditioning, a room can be rented from 500 baht per day, but if you wish, you can find it cheaper.

What to see in Pattaya on your own

Self-guided tours from Pattaya

We can recommend for you several independent excursions from Pattaya, which you will surely remember for a long time, and perhaps even block the impressions of your holiday in Pattaya. It is better to start planning them in advance, since careful preparation is a significant guarantee of the success of any undertaking.

  • On your own from Pattaya to Cambodia - we strongly advise you to go to Siem Reap and look at the lost city of Angkor Wat. The spectacle is very impressive. We wrote about all the intricacies of organizing such a trip in the corresponding post;
  • Independently from Pattaya to Laos. A trip to the city of Vang Vieng will definitely be remembered for a long time. From Pattaya, you can easily get there by bus, and it will cost quite inexpensively. For those who are already fed up with the standard excursion program and are ready to make an exciting journey for a fun rafting on a mountain river, a trip to Laos will be an ideal option.
  • Independently from Pattaya to Bangkok. From Pattaya to Bangkok to go about two hours. Travel - 97 baht. Explore the sights of the capital of Thailand on the Internet and hit the road!
  • Khao Kheo Zoo. Many tourists note that this zoo is best visited on your own. As part of the tour, you will have too little time to fully get to know the huge variety of zoo inhabitants. And we also think so. This is one of those attractions that is worth devoting a whole day to.

On your own from Pattaya to the islands

I won’t talk about the island of Koh Lan, which is located near Pattaya, everyone already knows about it. But your acquaintance with the Thai islands, you can start with him.

Over the past year, we independently visited four islands from Pattaya: Koh Chang, Koh Sichang, Samet and Koh Samui. We talked about each of these trips in detail in the corresponding posts.

If you choose from these three islands, then Koh Samet is probably the best option for a trip from Pattaya. It takes about three hours to get to it, and the beaches and nature there are simply amazing.

I hope that the information presented in this post will be useful for you and will help you organize your independent trip to Pattaya faster and better. For any clarifying questions, we will be happy to answer in the comments.

From the capital of Thailand, you can get to the resort town of Pattaya in several ways:

  • Order a transfer
  • Take a taxi directly at the airport
  • Get there by bus

How to book a transfer from Bangkok airport

Bangkok has two international airports: Donmuang and Savarnabhumi. All flights from Russia, Europe, CIS countries - arrive at the last. Donmuang Airport serves mainly flights to Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, and so on), but many of these flights are operated to the capital's main airport, Savarnabhumi.

Savarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok)

In order to arrange a transfer in time for your arrival at Savarnabhumi International Airport, you need to contact the hotel where you plan to stay in advance and check if such a service is available. In some hotels, the transfer service is included in the price of your stay, that is, you do not have to pay for it separately.

If the hotel does not provide such a service for free, then it is likely that there is a paid transfer, the cost of which should not exceed the cost of a regular taxi. The second way is to contact one of the carriers and order a transfer. For example, the kiwitaxi.ru service. In both cases, you will be met at the arrivals area by a person holding a sign with your name on it.

Taxi to Pattaya from Savarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok

To use the taxi service, you need to go down to the 1st floor of Savarnabhumi Airport, there you will find stands with the inscription "Public Taxi". The person behind the desk, in turn, will direct you to a specific car in the taxi rank. You can buy a taxi ticket on your own in a special machine.

Taxi at Bangkok Savarnabhumi Airport

Official Thai taxi cars can be of any bright color - pink, yellow, green, dark green with a yellow stripe, blue, red. Flashy cars are an interesting feature of Thai taxis. On the roof of each car you will see a light panel with the inscription "TAXI METER". The fare depends on the distance and is paid according to the meter.

Taxi rank at Savarnabhumi Airport

Make sure that the meter is turned on and not covered with a cloth, which taxi drivers often do, in the hope of deceiving passengers and taking more money for the trip. Basically, a trip to Pattaya will cost from 1300 to 1800 THB. On the way there will be two toll sections of the road that you will have to pay (30 THB). If the meter is not turned on - the taxi driver is breaking the law, ask him to turn on the meter. If he refuses, then the phrase "Touristic p oliсe" (tourist police) should bring him to his senses.

To save money, you can go up to the 4th floor of the airport and take a taxi that has just arrived and dropped off passengers. With drivers, you can immediately agree on a lower cost. It is quite possible to get to Pattaya for 1000-1200 Thai baht, and the price tag of 1500 is already without any discounts. I must say right away that this method of working for TAXI METER drivers in Thailand is not legal.

You can also call a taxi through the Uber app.

Native spaces

Russia is the most unusual and amazing country in the world. This is not a formula of official patriotism, this is the absolute truth. Unusual, because infinitely diverse. Amazing because it is always unpredictable. The gentle and gentle spring sun sinks in a deadly snowstorm in ten minutes, and a bright triple rainbow shines after the flying black cloud. The tundras of the Arctic are combined with desert dunes, the swampy taiga is replaced by monsoon forests, and the boundless plains smoothly turn into equally boundless mountain ranges. Through Russia the greatest rivers of Eurasia carry their waters - in no other country in the world is there such an abundance of great flowing waters. Volga, Ob, Irtysh, Yenisei, Lena, Amur ... And the largest lakes in the world - the salty Caspian and fresh Baikal. And the longest steppes in the world - from the banks of the Donets to the Amur region. To match the geographical abundance - the diversity of peoples, their customs, religions, cultures. Nenets reindeer herders set up their chums next to well-maintained high-rise buildings. Tuvans and Buryats roam with herds and yurts along federal highways. In the Kazan Kremlin a large new mosque adjoins an old Orthodox cathedral; in the city of Kyzyl, a Buddhist suburgan turns white against the background of a golden-domed church, and not far from them, the breeze flutters colorful ribbons at the entrance to the shaman's yurt...

Russia is a country where you won't get bored. Everything is full of surprises. A beautiful asphalt highway is suddenly replaced by a broken primer, and it goes into an impassable swamp. To overcome the last 30 kilometers of the path, it sometimes takes three times as long as the previous ten thousand. And the most unexpected thing in this mysterious country is the people. Those who know how to live in the most difficult, even impossible natural conditions: in the mosquito taiga, in the waterless steppe, in the highlands and in flooded valleys, with 50-degree heat and 60-degree frost ... Having learned to survive, I note, by the way, under the yoke of various authorities , none of which has ever been merciful to them ... They created a unique culture in these swamps, forests, steppes and mountains, or rather, many unique cultures. Created a great the history of the Russian state- a story, also consisting of countless great, heroic and tragic stories.

Living witnesses of the historical past, the work of well-known, and in the vast majority of cases, unknown Russians - architectural monuments. The architectural wealth of Russia is great and diverse. It reveals the beauty of the Russian land, and the ingenuity of the mind of its people, and sovereign power, but most importantly, the greatness of the human spirit. Russia was built over a thousand years under the most difficult conditions imaginable. Among the harsh and meager nature, in continuous external wars and internal struggles. All the great things that have been raised on Russian soil, was erected by the power of faith - faith in the truth, in a bright future, in God. Therefore, in architectural monuments, with all their constructive, functional and ideological diversity, there is a common beginning - the desire from earth to sky, from darkness to light.

It is simply impossible to tell in one article about all the wonderful places in Russia - natural, historical, poetic, industrial, memorial. Even twenty such pages would not be enough for this. The publishers and I decided: I will write only about those places where I myself have been, which I have seen with my own eyes. Therefore, in our publication, Klyuchevskaya Sopka does not smoke, the islands of the Kuril ridge do not rise from the Pacific waters, the white cover of the Arctic Ocean does not sparkle ... I have not been to these and many other places, I dream of visiting and writing about them. Many remarkable monuments of history and culture were not included in the book. St. George's Cathedral in Yuryev-Polsky and St. Sophia's Cathedral in Vologda, the Kremlins of Tula and Kolomna, the estates of Vorobyevo in Kaluga and Maryino in the Kursk region, the buildings of the local history museum in Irkutsk and the Drama Theater in Samara, the Saratov Conservatory and the City House in Khabarovsk ... List endless.

In addition, we decided not to get carried away with the story of big cities, about millions of megacities (limiting ourselves to a selective review of architectural wealth of Moscow and St. Petersburg), but to give preference to distant Russia, living away from the wide highways and from the noise of business and industrial centers.
