Rest in Tsandripsha. Accommodation for vacationers in the village of Tsandripsh (Abkhazia) Tsandripsh entertainment

A small urban-type settlement Tsandripsh is located in the Gagra region of Abkhazia. The population is about 10 thousand people. I would call it an Armenian village, because I never saw the Abkhaz.

I asked our hostess:

And where are the Abkhazians?

She explained:

Abkhazians live high in the mountains, and there are only two of them left in the village.

The village of Tsandripsh is sandwiched between the federal highway leading from Adler to Sukhum and the old, neglected Sukhum railway running along the seashore. So there is no way to avoid the railroad on the way to the beach. You can pass: either, breaking the embankment with a railway track, or from below - through a tunnel.

We noticed two tunnels in the village: one closer to the center, the other on the outskirts - in the White Rocks area. A couple of times we managed to see the train passing to Sukhum - the train is very short, only a few cars.

And now I want to say about the warmest and nicest place in the village - about the White Rocks. This is perhaps the main attraction of Tsandripsh. White Rocks are located at the exit from the village towards the Cold River. You can reach them in about an hour in two ways: either by the seashore, or along the main street towards Gagra.

The rocks are really absolutely white and smooth, they lie right at the water's edge. They were created by nature itself - and the sea waves have painstakingly worked for centuries to polish them.

The central street, Oktyabrskaya, pierces the entire village and unites outside of it with the federal highway. This street is a very miserable sight - most of the houses are in gaping ruins, so it's better not to look around.

At the foot of the destroyed buildings there are open stalls under bright umbrellas - these are outlets selling some souvenirs, beach accessories and trifles. Trading eases the feeling of ruin a little.

In the fragments of the first floors of houses that have been preserved in places, there are small shops selling groceries or pharmacies. The village has several cafes and even a canteen on the corner of Lenin Street - but the very sight of these establishments is repulsive. At the beginning of the main street, near the bus station, there is a small and meager fruit and vegetable market.

Note that there has been no post office in the village since the war. We asked the hostess many times: how can this be? There was only one answer: there was no post office in the village. We also learned from her stories that in past years Tsandripsh was quite comfortable and prosperous.

Several successful enterprises operated - a wine, canning and crushed stone factories, a tobacco factory. Wine and tobacco were produced under the quality label and were mainly exported. Now there is none of this - everything is destroyed and plundered.

If you walk a little deeper from the central street into residential buildings, then the eye immediately catches contrasts. Houses are clearly divided into three main types: squalid, dilapidated shacks, solid newly built houses and unfinished huge mansions, long abandoned by the owners - most likely during the war.

The only grocery market where, in fact, the population buys food, it works only three times a week: on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Active trading starts at 6 am, and after 11 am there is nothing to do there - you cannot buy food. Prices are very high, much higher than in Moscow. I will write about them a little later.

I want to note an important detail: there is no embankment in the village - there is only a long pebble beach. In the evening there is nowhere to walk - no park, no square - only vacant lots. Therefore, young people who have a rest at night like to hang out on the beach: guitars, music and beer brought with them - everything is there ...

Abkhazia has a very short daylight hours - it gets dark early. Absolute darkness falls around eight in the evening. And in the evening in the village only one central street is illuminated - and then, in the place where the convenience store is located ...

Nowhere to go. Therefore, on long Abkhaz evenings, the resting people are doomed to either watch TV, or stupidly drink beer, or try to fall asleep after nine in the evening ... True, this is problematic - pop music thunders from the only village restaurant until four in the morning. By the way, in the evening you can only get to this place with a flashlight in your hand, otherwise you will break your legs, in the village only the central street is asphalted.

Towards the morning, when the restaurant rhythms fall silent and you try to fall asleep, another story begins: packs of stray dogs arrange battles on a huge garbage heap that rises right in the center of Lenin Street.

Since we are talking about the animal world, here we should also mention other representatives of the fauna. Chickens roam the streets, finding food in the same street mountains of garbage.

Here, not only stray cats walk by themselves, but you can suddenly meet a cow as well. One morning I went to a grocery store and on the street I met a lonely horned cow, who accompanied me on the way back and forth.

If we talk about small animals, I saw real scorpions for the first time. They constantly lived on the walls of our toilet, peacefully coexisting with huge fat snails. And at night angry mosquitoes attacked - but this is nothing more.

About the global mountain of garbage on the street named after the proletarian leader, which was divided at night by dogs, and by chickens during the day - I have already said. And imagine another picture like this. Before the tunnel leading to the beach, we had to watch how Russian resort old ladies in hats and multi-colored pareos defiled in the direction of the beach.

And the daily old woman's defile took place against the background of three unchanging scenery: a huge garbage dump, an old abandoned cafe and a local peasant sitting by the road. This little man was selling some kind of red wine, poured into plastic bottles, as well as a local delicacy - killed sea rays, lying at the bottom of an old zinc trough ...

There is a pebble beach just behind the tunnel. However, getting close to the blue sea is not so easy. To begin with, I had to bypass the beach trash heaps, consisting of the results of the activity of vacationers during the holiday season. A ridge of garbage mountains stretched along the entire beach - right up to the White Rocks.

For swimming, not a single place was equipped on the entire coast - there were no small pebbles for entering the sea. So there was only one opportunity to swim - to swim in special shoes or directly in slippers.

There were not many people on the beach, but they could not swim in the sea calmly anyway. Hot horsemen on their jet skis and motorboats rushed right over the heads of the bathing public - trying to attract the attention of vacationers and earn the most money at the end of the dying season ...

I forgot to mention the theft of money by local telecom operators. In Moscow, we prudently put decent sums on our phones - for every fireman. We had no information that when crossing the border it was necessary to select an operator manually.

Three days after our arrival, four thousand rubles disappeared from us. We spoke with Moscow only a few times, and very briefly.

And when we went to find out the reasons for the disconnection at the local communications office, we, old boobies, were popularly explained that there was nothing unusual here. As soon as visitors get into the coverage area of the local network - how their money bye-bye ...

Continued in the fifth part

Tsandripsh is a very small settlement. Even if we take into account the neighboring village of Gyachrypsh, which, in fact, is one whole with the village, the total housing stock will be much smaller than in other resorts on the coast. Therefore, it is better to decide on the place of residence in advance by booking it before arrival. There are no large hotels, sanatoriums or recreation centers in the village. All areas are provided by individuals. These are purpose-built guest houses or rental of typical residential premises of local residents. But the level of service here, oddly enough, is higher than in the same Gagra. Most likely, it is the influence of the nearby Russian resorts, which makes them “keep the brand”. Prices in 2020 allow Tsandripsh to be attributed to inexpensive resorts. All rental housing is located along the coastline, so this can also be called an advantage of the village.

How to get there

The village is located in the westernmost part of Abkhazia on the border with the Russian Federation. It was built in a valley formed around the bed of the Haushpse River, which flows into the Black Sea here. Another river, Lapsy, flows between the village and the neighboring village of Gyachrypsh, and on the border with Russia, the Psou river. Thus, the water near the coast of the village is very much renewed due to the mountain rivers and therefore is quite clean.

Sukhumskoe highway passes through the village - the main transport corridor to get to Tsandripsh. The most convenient way to get here is by road. There is also a railway connection in the village, but there are not many trains, and they do not run all year round, from May to October. From the Russian side, the best way to get to the village is via Adler. Both from the railway station and from the Sochi airport to the village can be reached by minibus or taxi. Just 5 km from the border. Moreover, when choosing a taxi, it is better to take it with Abkhazian numbers, it will be cheaper.

General information, history

Officially, Tsandripsh is today an urban-type settlement. In various sources, the name can be written as "Tsandrypsh", in fact - this is the same thing. In Soviet times, the village was called Gantiadi, and many people still use this name. Currently, about 5,000 people live in the village.

The territory of the village has been inhabited since ancient times. It is considered the historical center of Little Abkhazia. This is confirmed by the many ruins of ancient buildings, which can still be seen in the village today. The first official settlement appeared here in 1867. It was laid by the Russians. The name of the village comes from the Abkhazian clan Tsanba.

Today, rest in Tsandripsh is considered to be a family one. Life here is more measured and calm. From the point of view of the entertainment industry, the village is difficult to compete with Adler or Sochi, and this is not necessary. The local nature and the sea will therefore attract their vacationers. To this can be added the Abkhaz flavor and low prices.

Things to do

Rest in Tsandripsha can be compared to a sightseeing tour of the history of Abkhazia. The key attraction that must be visited is the Khashup Fortress. This is a fortification of the VIII century, which has been well preserved to this day. It is located in the bed of the Khashupse River, a couple of kilometers from the village. And right on the territory of the settlement is the Tsandripshsky temple or basilica of the IV century. This is an ancient baptismal room with tombs of the relics of the martyrs.

Those for whom active rest is more important can be recommended to try their hand at rafting - rafting on mountain rivers, of which there are three in the village. And of course the very nature of the Caucasian coast, with its riot of colors of outlandish flora. Just wandering around the outskirts of the village will be not only exciting, but also very useful.

Beaches

Local beaches can be called the widest on the entire Caucasian coast. They can reach a depth of 200m. This is due to the fact that the mountain range is somewhat removed from the coastline. The beaches are mostly covered with large and small pebbles, so slippers will be highly desirable. The total length along the sea is about 6 km, i.e. the entire built-up residential area of the village faces one or another section of the beach. All beaches are equipped with a well developed service industry. The bottom is rather flat, although there is no particular shallow water. Near the village there is a wild beach, which locals call "White stones" because of the white rock formations that formed this place.

Latest reviews about holidays in Tsandripsh

We rested here for more than one year. I liked everything very much, we plan to come again. Home atmosphere, cozy at home. The owners are very good-natured, our requests and wishes were not ignored. In the summer of 2019 it was cool, so they brought us blankets)))
Thank you for the warm welcome, we will definitely come to you again

With a big delay, but still, at last, I am doing my duty to this wonderful family and their new guests - I am writing a review about an unforgettable stay in this house! I could not get myself together, as I completely went headlong into children and work, immediately upon returning home. Such was the period in my life. Now, on vacation, I sincerely want to make up for my shortcoming on this issue)
A year and a half has passed, and a three-week vacation with Aunt Vali and Uncle Garik still warms my heart with memories!
I rested in Tsandripsha with my one-year-old daughter, the eldest daughter was 9 years old nearby in a sports camp. I was looking for housing specifically near the camp in order to sometimes meet with my eldest daughter. In the middle of our vacation, my husband joined us and the three of us already lived with Valentina and Garik. All previous reviews are absolutely true - the family welcomes guests like family! Vali has perfect cleanliness, order and comfort everywhere.
The hosts warmly welcome the guests, and they think every day that people are nourished with warmth and care during their holidays. I want to return to this house again and again.
For a modest fee, the hosts provide guests with cozy, clean, bright rooms. All the comforts of home, shower, washing machine. Convenient outdoor kitchen with all the necessary utensils. With a one-year-old child, I never needed anything. When my home blender went out of order, Valya immediately brought me her own! For example. There are a lot of such little things. The owners, if necessary, took us to the market and to the children's store! In everything we tried to help, suggest and make our vacation carefree!
When we first arrived, it was low season and there weren't many guests. Closer to July, the house was 100% full, but everyone was comfortable together, thanks to the hospitable hosts, the guests were friends and communicated with each other in a mode comfortable for each family.
The hosts put on amazing dancing and conversation nights at dinner. They have wonderful grandchildren who sometimes dance national dances for guests. And also make up a great company for little guests. My baby was constantly surrounded by the attention and care of Milana and Emil, the grandchildren of Vali and Garik.
Thanks to the whole family for our wonderful holiday and your hospitality! If back to Abkhazia, then only to you !!!

Thanks for the rest, Comrade Anya, Serezha and Gayane. All liked it. The first time we were in Abkhazia, it took a long time to choose a place and did not regret it. Everything you need is there, water is hot all the time, air conditioners in the rooms, the photos correspond, close to the sea, and most importantly QUIET. Nearby there is a minibus to the center. Many families have been coming here for decades. It says a lot. We will definitely come again. I recommend you come.

Hello everybody!!! The whole family of 7 people stayed with these wonderful and friendly people. Two children and five adults. The atmosphere is as if you were raised and born there, everything is so homely and cozy. The rooms are very clean, there is air conditioning, shower and toilet right in the room, T / V, WF, the tangerine garden amazed with its beauty, a huge summer kitchen with gas stoves, refrigerators, TV. There is a lot of space for evening gatherings, barbecue, skewers, coal, everything is there, everything is so cozy and beautiful just super. The owners are very, very hospitable, just great. It seems that you have known them all your life. As for the sea, it is clean, no poisoning, the children drank sea water and nothing happened, no one got poisoned or got sick. To the sea exactly 5 minutes on foot. There are just a lot of shops, there is a wonderful dining room, you can order barbecue and smoked trout straight home through the hosts, very convenient. We ordered a tour, in a Mitsubishi jeep, in general class. The children are delighted. By the way, the excursion was ordered from the owners, as they say, everything is in one place. They have a family contract. Well done. The most impressive trip is the Gega waterfall, I just advise it very cool, it is so huge when you look up at the waterfall, your head is spinning. Yes, at the expense of the sea in September it is warm, the beach is pebble. We will definitely go there and to this guest house "Svetlana". I really want to thank these wonderful and kind people for their hospitality, thank you. By the way, we were met at the border by car and were also taken back, very convenient. There is even a dog named "Zeus" as a native. My family and I are looking forward to getting there again. We will definitely come in 2020. I recommend this guest house to everyone. Thanks for all!!!

We have been resting with Zhanna and Igor for several years, but not having time to leave, we want to go back (before reaching the border by the way). So cozy and homely atmosphere that my niece during the winter constantly says that I have to go to live with Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Igor. Thank you for our unforgettable vacation, we look forward to summer and again to you!

We rested in July 2019 at the guest house "By the Sea" with Irina and Andrey Makurov.
The house is large, clean, with all the amenities, there is a kitchen where you can always cook your own meal.
But there is one BUT, the owners of this house, to our great regret, turned out to be not very hospitable., We were not at all comfortable living in this house:
-On the top floor in the room we lived in, there was an unpleasant smell of sewage, especially in the evening.
-In addition, the owner of the house, Andrei, despite the specially designated smoking area, which we were warned about upon arrival, could afford to smoke in the entire house, even in the presence of children.
- if you want to go to the sea for hours 7-8 in the morning, not the fact that you leave, you will have to wake up the owners so that they open the gates for you.
-Irina and Andrey will be kind and smiling with you only if you order excursions from them, buy their homemade wine, compotes (at not cheap prices at all)
The mistress of the house, Irina, this person is simply obsessed with cleanliness. I understand everything, to keep order in someone else's house, these are elementary things, eat and clean, but not so fanatically, you live in the house and are afraid to take an extra step. Well, around the house, try not to walk, so as not to apply sand….
At the end of the vacation, our child fell ill. We did not see any help or sympathy from the owners.
So, dear vacationers, think ten times before you go to this guest house.
We didn't like it and we don't recommend it to anyone.
Keep in mind that in the main group "In contact" all negative reviews are deleted, which is very strange.

remember the address, Oktyabrskaya, 45, guest rooms Sangria
Never come to this house on vacation. All . what is written is not true. Only numbers and even then with broken TVs. So, not 100 steps to the sea (it was written 50 meters before our presence) but 600 meters, and even
bypassing a dirty puddle. called a river, with crystal clear water. IN FANTASY !!! Moreover, the owner, KAREN, calls it a warm river with a jacuzzi !!! Where, supposedly, you can swim. HORROR. No fishing, no blooming garden, and even mother Anaida, always giving instructions, where you can go, where you can't. to use gas for a short time, it is expensive, do not take anything, everything is for sale, etc. Do not make any prepayments !!! As the most honest person, KAREN does not return her, and only then calls her names and tries to expel you as soon as possible. and lives on fraudulent money. The dining room is dirty with an earthen floor and dirty dishes, with leaking slate, so it is always dirty.

The owner of the Abkhaz Dzhambul, the owner of the Georgian Marina, stayed with a private owner in Tsandripsh. Very nice, clean and helpful people. I am satisfied with the rest. Negative impressions were more than offset by pleasant hosts, clear water (with calm or moderate waves) and a free, spacious shore. As for negative emotions, these are mountains of garbage along the shore (that is, on the beach). I have not seen anyone cleaning the shore. Only the owners of recreation facilities are engaged in the improvement. And they do it well. Request: to make the recreation area free of debris.

Advantages:

 • incomparable nature
 • beautiful clear sea
 • very flavorful compote of their feijoa
 • good, not expensive cafes

Disadvantages:

 • theft
 • robberies
 • wild beach
 • to get there by train for 2 days
 • expensive tickets,
 • expensive products
 • little transport
 • little fruit :(, locals do not sell fruit

After reading the reviews and being inspired, my husband and I decided to go to Abkhazia with a three-year-old child. The closest to the border (only 5-7 minutes by car), but little-known resort place is the VILLAGE Tsandripsh. It was not easy for me to clarify that this is a village, keep this in mind and do not expect to see in front of you asphalted embankments and refined beaches with sun loungers and umbrellas. Moreover, cows walk in the village, and locals drive like crazy in cars and milk cycles. However, the nature there is wonderful! The sea is clear, blue, large pebbles and a strip of coarse sand. Dolphins almost near the shore were seen several times. Some entertainment on the beach is available, in the form of a banana and buns, as well as a boat trip. A sun lounger can be bought for a day for 100 rubles. Excursions offer quite a lot.

We booked a guest house in advance, I will write about it later, I do not want to go deep. And if not for such good living conditions, the impressions of the rest could be very bad.

I would like to note that we lived at the very beginning of the village, st. Sholokhov. There are a couple of cafes along the main road, but we chose one that we liked and ate there constantly. It is called "Glacier" if you choose Tsandripsh and sit nearby, I recommend it. They offer home cooking. Borsch, noodle soup, okroshka, cutlets, goulash, buckwheat, pilaf, salads, french fries and much more. Barbecue, of course, is available at a ridiculous price of 70 rubles. 100g. Drinks 20 rubles. Beer 55 rubles. Everything is always prepared fresh, so you will need to wait a little. The food is always delicious and fresh. The average bill for a family of 2 adults and a child is 400 rubles.

You can, of course, cook on your own, all the owners who rent out housing have such an opportunity, but be prepared for the fact that the products are more expensive than ours, some are very significant. The saddest thing is that fruits and vegetables were expensive and imported. And at the end of August, you can buy only figs from locals (and we had to wander around the village for a long time in search of those who sell). All grapes are mostly wine and not for sale.

You can go to the center of Tsandripsh and buy everything you need at the market. Prices are not much higher, but there is a choice. There are minibuses for about 30-50 rubles per person and a bus-bus for 10 rubles. It is a pity that the owners did not tell us how and where to get there, unknowingly they constantly deceived us and took much more for travel.

Please note that public transport stops running at sunset, no later than 7 pm, you can only get back by taxi. Which is not very cheap there, despite the fact that you eat for a few minutes.

I want to pay special attention to intestinal infections! Everyone who rested with us and we ourselves have been ill, children are especially seriously ill. With a temperature under 40, diarrhea and vomiting. Believe me, it's very scary! And this happened on the 5th day of stay. Be sure to bring a complete first aid kit with you. Antipyretic, coal, enterol, smecta are required. Of course, you can buy everything there, but if you are overtaken by an ailment, there will be no time for running around.

Well, the most unpleasant thing that the guests of our yard faced was robbery. They steal scary and brazenly. In broad daylight, windows of cars are broken and both personal belongings and cars are stolen. And there are very, very many victims from all over Abkhazia in the embassy. So be careful and on the alert, especially if you travel by car. Do not take credit cards, they will definitely not be useful there.

If you stay in Tsandripsh, there is a chance that you will have a Russian connection, at least we had that. But when approaching the sea, it changed to a local one. These are the miracles.

In any case, enjoy your stay and, most importantly, a positive attitude. Then you won't notice the trouble .

Advantages:

 • Climatic conditions
 • near the sea

Disadvantages:

 • Border crossing
 • raised prices for products.

Hello everyone, I want to leave my feedback about the Tsandripsh village. I read a lot on the Internet before going there to rest. To begin with, to get to Abkhazia you will have to go through 2 borders, the Russian and the Abkhaz, if you arrive early in the morning, you will pass quickly, but at lunch you will get tired of waiting, especially with children. The nature is really beautiful with numerous species of plants, trees, the sea is clean, sometimes of course there was an influx of dead jellyfish and no, but they were not dangerous. There are few shops and the prices are an order of magnitude higher, you can't eat cheaply in the cafe, we didn't like it at the U BORI cafe, you can find a better cafe for such prices! But homemade wine, chacha, cognac can be bought in every home. As for fruits, the same prices as in our HOMELAND are even cheaper here in Tatarstan. They make money for us on tourists, they know that we won't buy anywhere, so they fight. The only thing pleased with the warm sea, and the pool at the owners, we rested in a mini-hotel near Aida on Lenin 79. And in general, you can go to rest once for a change!

Overall impression: Calm quiet rest.

Positive reviews

The first time we had a rest in Tsandripsh was in 2017. rested perfectly. the hosts are wonderful. local attitude to tourists is good. nor any attacks in relation to us. and there were no tourists. the prices on the market are reasonable. you can easily negotiate a price drop. in shops. also at the prices ok. near where we rested in a private house. there is a private cafe. the prices are great. service is great. all as we were offered to relax in the house. and so it was. purely. culturally. calmly. The sea is clean. good. this year in August we eat with them.

Good afternoon, members of the forum.

We were in Abkhazia for the first time. We stopped in the village. Tsandripsh, on the street. Gorky 30 (private house). The hostess's name is Susanna, they agreed with her in advance, the wife's colleague advised, from personal experience. We mainly prefer "seals" (beach, sea, without much movement around the surroundings), but this time we went on an excursion to the mountains, waterfalls, Lake Ritsa, and once again went to the water park in Gagra. But first things first...

Let's start with the pros:

 • Sea. We were there for 12 days, during this time the sea was dirty for 2 days - it brought garbage, driftwood, sticks, the water was yellow. The rest of the time - the sea was gorgeous! This made both us and my daughter (4.5 years old) very happy. There were few people on the beach, no crowding. Although the beach itself was not very clean, heaps of rubbish, driftwood and fire marks ...
 • Weather. There was no rain, only on the first night after arrival. The rest of the time - the heat! I tolerate well, my wife suffered a little. Of course, in the afternoon, from 13 to 17 we left the beach ... But this is much better than it would be rains or cloudy skies.
 • Excursion. The husband of the hostess took us, he is engaged in excursions. We drove to Gagra, then to the mountains, along the waterfalls (with jeeping, tasting drinks and honey), then to Ritsu, back to Gagra and home. In the morning we left at 8-00, returned around 17-00. I liked everything very much, mountains, Lake Ritsa, waterfalls, a trip along the rocky "path" to the Gega waterfall ... in general, the sea of new impressions. In the end, everyone was tired, but very happy. I liked the trip to the water park less - ticket 1000r / adult. and 700r / child. And there is not as much entertainment as we would like. We had lunch in a local cafe - not cheap. And the weather was not very favorable - so at 3 pm we left there. But the children liked it, of course, more than we did (we traveled with two families).
 • The attitude of the owners of the house. The house is not new, the conditions are not as comfortable as possible (there was no kondeya, shower-toilet on the floor, it was 10-15 minutes to walk to the sea), but in general I liked everything. The owners are ordinary people, the attitude was human. We were met at the border and taken back on the last day. In general, thanks to these kind people for the shelter.
 • Food. We didn't cook ourselves (there was a summer kitchen in the house), we ate in a local cafe. Cafe near the beach, called "Zakutok". The setting is, of course, unassuming, a simple summer cafe. But the attitude of the staff and the quality of the food were great. Hi Vika, Masha and Tati. We went to another cafe, a little further from us, and there was also an example of a cafe in the water park - according to our impressions, the Zakutka had the most delicious food. And this is at reasonable prices (breakfast - 300 rubles, lunch and dinner - 500-600 rubles for three, with a child). And, by the way, there was no hint of food not fresh either ...

Now about the cons:

 • I didn't like the attitude of some local people towards us as tourists. They have already written about this before me, I will repeat myself - it seems that many local merchants think that money is pouring from tourists from all the natural openings of the body, and an extra couple of hundred rubles will not burden anyone. It was not pleasant.
 • The prices in the shops were the same as in the Moscow region. This was an unpleasant surprise. We thought that milk, bread and some other elementary things would be cheaper. But this did not spoil the rest, of course, just not a very pleasant fact.
 • Previous authors noted - I repeat: everywhere is rather dirty, unkempt ... I wrote above about the beach, in the village itself the situation is the same. I think that this has been going on since 1992-93, when everything collapsed, and there was no one to deal with roads and other infrastructure. But, again, we came to enjoy the sea, mountains and clean air, and not celebrate the facts of the communal disorder of the village. Therefore, this is so, "notes along the way", which had little effect on the impressions of the rest))

To sum up, we were satisfied with the rest, once again I want to thank our hosts from Gorky 30, Susanna and Arthur - thank you very much for everything! We will definitely return to Abkhazia next year - we understand that of all the beauties we have not seen even 1/10 of ...

Advantages:

 • Attitude
 • Nature

disadvantages

 • In 2009 there were none!

Details:

Abkhazia- These are my best memories of vacation ... It was in 2009 after the aggression of Georgia, pushed by the United States ... As a result, the attitude of the Abkhaz people was as once warm to the visitors from Russia !!! We were alone with my girlfriend, and now my wife ... Tsandrypsh is the former Gantiadi (in Georgian), the inhabitants of Abkhazia were very unhappy when they heard the name of their city in a Georgian motive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always in the same cafe. We were very pleased with the prices for a hearty meal, we spent only 150 rubles for two (hodgepodge, mashed potatoes with a cutlet, a bottle of 1-liter beer (it seems like marmara), a glass of wine (homemade) for my girlfriend and cheese platter). I will never forget the owner of the cafe, a cheerful peasant in old age, every evening treated everyone at his own expense and at the same time said, “If it were not for you Russians, we Abkhazians would not be on these lands! Thank you!!!" maybe somehow differently, but the meaning is clear, and dance dances began. The beaches were struck by the cleanliness of the natural beauty, three hundred meters from the beach close to the Donskoy Tabak sanatorium and the old train station, there are white stones, when we approached them we could not believe our eyes the bright white stones located on the seashore are simply delightful. Near the building of the old station, there are plenty of posters with excursions for different wallets. We were on one excursion independently chose the route and went leisurely, the nature is impressive, there are a lot of abandoned buildings beautiful in their architecture. The only excursion, according to the locals, which in no case should you agree to is driving a UAZ in the mountains, there are many cases of injury up to death ... I don’t know how it is now, but in 2009 it was very bad with medicine there !!! Gays disappointed if they see that a car with Russian license plates is driving anybody, they will stop it, but they will find something to complain about ... minus the customs office there are no brothers if in Abkhazia they smile at you, then the same people at the customs office are ready to stick a knife in your back ... Clearance through customs during the holiday season can take up to 5.6 hours. Who is in a hurry to eat next to the stall in which you, like through a portal, pass this many-hour queue Certainly not for pretty eyes. For that pleases the Abkhazian customs with a smile greeted plainly even the documents do not look trust the Russian customs))) ...

 • In principle - we can say that there are no downsides

We live in St. Petersburg, and this is what we learned this summer: the most convenient way to get to Tsandripsh is not by car, but by train.

By car, you can get stuck for a very long time in front of the border. Friends last year stood for 5 hours, we - more than 3 hours. But on the train - a nice thing! It goes on schedule, customs officers check it very quickly. Such is the nuance.

Tsandripsh is a quiet and cozy place. Everyone who has been there at least once comes back again and again. Nature is so beautiful. what is breathtaking! From the window of our guest house, we saw the mountains. In the evenings, they went out onto the balcony and admired the view.

The sea is clean. True, this year (in June) we were not very lucky with the weather. The sea was restless, and there was no particular heat. But, despite the fact that the sea constantly threw out small debris and algae on the beach, the beaches are clean, they are constantly removed.

There were a lot of drunk tourists this year compared to previous years. But what to do, I had to put up with it. But in the village there are shops (although the prices in them are the same as in St. Petersburg), a pharmacy, cafes and restaurants.

You can stay in the private sector, in a boarding house or in guest houses. The latter is acceptable for the price and quite comfortable (we paid 300 per person).

Overall impression: How to get to Tsandripsh more conveniently

Good day everyone !!! We just returned from a vacation in Abkhazia, in the village of Tsandripsh (formerly Gandiadi), my son and I are just delighted !!! Words cannot convey how much we liked it and how we did not want to leave. In the guest house of Irina and Andrey just an idyll for relaxation, everything is thought out to the smallest detail for a perfect holiday, a friendly and attentive attitude towards all vacationers. The sea is not far and very clean, everything you need is within walking distance. Lovers of outdoor activities also have a place to roam, the owners offer many excursions to the sights of Abkhazia. I would like to go back there again !!!

We rested from 19 to 27 August at Andrey and Irina's, our first trip to Abkhazia. Excellent home, hospitable hosts. Many people frightened us with unsanitary conditions in Tsandripsh, and in general in Abkhazia, nonsense. This house has excellent conditions, clean rooms with new furniture, bed linen and towels. Shared kitchen - all conditions for cooking: dishes. stoves, kettles, there was never a line in the kitchen to cook or heat food. The sea is nearby, 5 minutes walk, there are not so many people on the beach as in other villages, the beach is clean. The hosts offer tours with reliable guides. And special thanks to Andrey and Irina for treating us with figs and pears. The most important point is that after passing the border, we arrogantly decided to find the house ourselves, but the Yandex map could not find it, and we had no connection. And knowing that we had passed the border, Irina sent Andrey in search and he found us, straying in a car :) IRINA and ANDREY, thank you for your hospitality and company.

Small, only 5,000 inhabitants, the village of Tsandripsh in the Gagra district of Abkhazia is older than half of the world's capitals. Already in the first millennium BC. e. the future resort was chosen by the ancient tribes, which were replaced by the Romans, and then the descendants of the future Abkhazians. In memory of themselves, they all left a few buildings scattered throughout the village and the surrounding area.

With the passage of time, Tsandripsh, alas, did not grow; even its popularity among the Soviet elites (one of Stalin's favorite dachas stands nearby) did not turn the village into a resort on a national scale. Today it is still modest in size, not too rich in tourist infrastructure, but green, cozy and healthy.

Tsandripsh is perfect for a leisurely budget holiday. Yes, and the Russian border is only 5 km away, a passport is not needed. The only negative (however, as anyone) is an exclusively pebble entrance to the sea. But if you have special footwear, you quickly forget about it.

How to get to Tsandripsh

The fastest and most convenient way to get to Tsandripsh is by air through the main air gate of the Caucasus - Adler airport, located just 21 km from the village. The rest of the way will have to go by public transport, train or taxi. It will take significantly more time to travel by rail from the European part of Russia, but there are options that do not require transfers. In addition, you can get directly to Tsandripsh by intercity buses going to Sukhum from Moscow and a number of cities in the Southern Federal District. You should also not lose sight of the option of driving your own car.

A bit of history

In the middle of the first millennium A.D. e. Tsandripsh (then called Sauchi) was the capital of the Sanigiya principality. It is believed that it was here that Little Abkhazia was born. In the 19th century, a Russian village was founded nearby, which then merged with the Abkhaz one. During the Russian domination (until the end of the Great Patriotic War) the city was called Ermolovsky, and then, before perestroika - Gantiadi. It is under this name that many Soviet-trained tourists know Tsandripsh today.

Transport

You shouldn't count on regular public transport, which runs from early morning until late at night, in Tsandripsh. Yes, there are several minibuses, but when and where, perhaps, only their drivers know. There are signs “Bus stop” along the roads, but you can brake public transport with a wave of your hand there - most likely, the attempt will be crowned with success.

If you need to return from somewhere in the evening, there is one option - a taxi. A short trip will cost an average of RUB 100 when called by phone. "Bombila", "caught" on the road, can ask for three times more. The prices on the page are for September 2018.

There is no place to rent bicycles, and there is nowhere to ride them. For a car, you can go to Sukhum or take it directly to the Psou checkpoint: there is a chance to get a Nissan-X-Trail or a Mercedes-Benz S-class for 2000 RUB / day when renting from 7 days.

It is forbidden to drive a rental car into Russia!

Tsandripsh Hotels

Home-style cozy Tsandripsh meets vacationers almost exclusively with guest houses and mini-hotels without any "stars". However, they have everything you need: free Wi-Fi and parking, breakfast-only meals (you can also agree on a full board), TV, barbecue facilities, a distance to the beach within a kilometer, and somewhere - even billiards , sauna or bathhouse. As for the air conditioner, you need to clarify additionally, in extreme cases, you can ask for a fan.

The average cost of a room in a guest house or mini-hotel is 1000 RUB (there are also 550 RUB), many of them work only on prepayment, but it is better not to pay more than 30% of the amount before arrival.

If you want something luxurious and more expensive, you can rent a room at the 4 * Eucalyptus Coast hotel, the pleasure will cost 4500 RUB (the price includes a free transfer, the hotel has a swimming pool), or rent a villa on the beach with two bedrooms and a living room for 9000 RUB / night.

Beaches

There is no need to specifically look for beaches or go several kilometers to them in Tsandripsha. I went ashore - and here it is, the beach. It is incredibly long and wide, close to the forest and the road it is coarse sand, and near the water it is coarse and small pebbles. The purest blue Black Sea is attached (after a storm it can be cloudy).

The beach is free, closer to the center there are rental offices for umbrellas and sunbeds (from RUB 100 / day), as well as air mattresses and jet skis (from RUB 300-1000 / day).

The local coast is perfect for families with children: the entrance to the water is shallow, the most daring are invited to ride a "banana". But most of all, the kids are delighted with dolphins, which often show up and sometimes swim quite close.

The children should be closely watched: literally a couple of meters from the entrance to the water, there is a great depth.

The most beautiful section of the beach is located a little away from the village, between it and Gagra. It is called White Rocks, because huge boulders of the color of snow stick out from under the crumbling pebbles along the coast, the same rocks surround a small beach. This is the largest marble site in Abkhazia. Dozens of tourists come to admire the "rocks" every day.

What to bring

There are no interesting shops in the tiny village, let alone shopping centers. All the fun is the local market. Edible souvenirs, without which you shouldn't leave there, are natural honey, jam, incredible cheese, multicolored placers of aromatic spices and herbs. If you come across, you can grab a eucalyptus broom and Abkhazian black or green tea.

Local products made from sheep and goat wool are very popular among visitors: mittens, socks, cloaks, as well as clay and wooden crafts. From the first, the original reminder of the trip will be wine jugs, from the second - coasters for hot dishes and all kinds of kitchen utensils. Another iconic Abkhaz souvenir is a "dzhezva" for making coffee. True lovers of this invigorating drink will appreciate it.

Tsandripsh cuisine and restaurants

The word “restaurants” is not particularly suitable for Tsandripsh's establishments: they do not have luxurious interiors, exquisite drinks and outlandish dishes on the menu. But the food is very tasty.

The basis of Abkhaz dishes is meat, fish, eggs, dairy and dairy products. Among vegetables, cabbage, eggplant and tomatoes are held in high esteem. They know how and love to cook beans and all kinds of cereals here.

Those who want to taste the local “delicacies” should order thick hominy corn porridge, juicy shish kebab, eggplant stuffed with nuts and herbs and, of course, hot adjika. Drinks include homemade wine and incredibly delicious lemonades.

Numerous canteens offer breakfasts, lunches and dinners - most of them are in the center. A set lunch for two will cost 800 RUB, a snack from a small khachapuri with a glass of lemonade - 100 RUB per person. From high-level establishments Tsandripsh guests recommend "Caucasus" on the street. Lenin. A dinner for two with alcohol in it will cost about 2000 RUB.

Entertainment and attractions

In general, people do not go to Tsandripsh in search of unique architectural structures or museums with a set of wonderful artifacts. The sea, delightful air, natural beauty are the main things. But those who miss the sightseeing vacation will have something to do.

In the very center of the resort stands its main curiosity - a perfectly preserved 5th century basilica. They say that earlier they baptized babies in it, saw off the dead on their last journey, held services. Today excursions are not conducted here, but it is definitely worth seeing this unusual structure.

5 km from the village, in a beautiful gorge of the Khashupse River, there is another ancient building - the Khashup Fortress (43.429725, 40.12305). It is believed that the ancient Romans built it at the very beginning of the first millennium AD. e. Time has worked hard over the once formidable citadel, but the outline of the fortress in the grass-covered ruins is still guessed. By the way, the Khashupse river itself is also a miracle how good - its canyons are especially picturesque.

Of the modern attractions, it is worth noting Stalin's dacha in the Cold River, 4 km from Tsandripsh (43.364761, 40.118183). Not only excursion groups are allowed there, but also "savages" travelers. Caretakers willingly tell stories similar to fiction about one of the leader's favorite dachas, as well as about himself.

Entertainment in Tsandripsh includes not very noisy discos, boat trips and rafting. In the village and its surroundings, three mountain rivers flow at once, flowing into the Black Sea, but the trouble is - in some areas in the heat it naturally dries up, so there is no time for rafting.

Acquaintance with the rich history of hospitable Abkhazia can be continued on excursions to Gagra, New Athos, Pitsunda or to Lake Ritsa. You can visit there both on your own, going on a journey in a rented car or minibus, or as part of a tour group that gathers in all the villages on the coast.

Weather

Tsandripsh is a typical resort village on the Black Sea coast: the air temperature here rarely drops below zero even in the height of winter, and in summer there is a heat, which is only slightly compensated by the breeze. The tourist season lasts from May to October, but August may not be the most successful for a vacation: forecasters are afraid of an abundance of precipitation. Plus, the last month of summer is considered the hottest.

The difference between day and night temperatures is sometimes significant: even in June-August it is worth grabbing a warm jacket to the resort, and in the spring and autumn - even taking a jacket.

The Black Sea begins to accumulate heat in May and gives it off for a very long time: even in early October, the water temperature remains comfortable for swimming.
