Southern resorts of Bulgaria. Regions and resorts in Bulgaria

The southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is the cleanest sea with sandy beaches and natural dunes.

Small town between Varna and Burgas. Obzor is a quiet and beautiful seaside resort with spacious beaches, fresh mountain air and beautiful surroundings. A rare combination of sea and mountain air contributes to climatotherapy and the prevention of many diseases, both in adults and children. The resort has a lot of young people, families with children. There are many small cozy cottages, private boarding houses, family villas. On the territory of the resort, you can easily find many private sectors and apartments with all the necessary conditions.

The sea here is always 3-5 degrees warmer than in Albena and Golden Sands. On the beach Overview many cafes and restaurants are open, there is an entertainment center "Castle", various water activities (catamarans, jet skis, bananas). It is mainly families with children who prefer a more relaxing holiday than in busy resorts.

Sunny Beach

This resort is located on the coast of the Burgas Bay. Here is the longest beach strip, its length is about 10 km, and the width in some places reaches 200 meters. The sea is clean. Along the beach there are more than a hundred hotels and almost a hundred and fifty restaurants, sports bars, nightclubs, cafes, discos. There are medical and information centers on the beach.

For children, there are children's pools, playgrounds, experienced animators, educators who work around the clock. While the kids are busy in the centers, parents can afford to rest at their discretion.

The beaches are equipped with sports grounds, there is mini-golf, beach volleyball, tennis courts, bowling, fitness rooms.

An aqua park is located 10 km from the resort. In addition, on Sunny Beach hotels are located along the beach and you don't have to go down the mountain or stairs to the sea.

This resort is not deprived of the attention of young people on vacation: modern discos and nightclubs gather a cheerful party on Sunny Beach all season long.

This town is one of the oldest cities in Europe, whose history goes back over 5 thousand years. Today, the city offers visitors a harmonious blend of a rich past and a booming present. The old part of the city is curious for its wooden architecture, the remains of churches, the city is listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage.

The new part of the city attracts with a 4-kilometer sandy beach in the southern part of the resort and a range of entertainment for every taste. Nessebar allows you to combine a beach holiday at sea with sightseeing.

Saint Vlas

The resort has grown from a small coastal village. Today it is one of the youngest and actively developing resorts. Here, while not crowded and quiet, you can enjoy your vacation in a cozy atmosphere. The resort is famous for its many small but good quality hotels and boarding houses. There are restaurants and bars, saunas and billiards, fitness and tennis.

The resort is located on a peninsula protruding 5 km into the sea, 10 km from Sunny Beach and Nessebar. The resort was founded near the salt lake and became known in antiquity for its therapeutic mud, mineral water, and iron-containing sand.

Today Pomorie belongs to the number of national marine balneological centers. The resort is considered the warmest in the country. The sea coast is gentle, with spacious beaches and clean fine sand, the sea is shallow, without rocks, and stone breakwaters block the path of cold currents to the bathing areas. In Pomorie there are many hotels of various categories, family boarding houses, medical sanatoriums. The town is very small, but the infrastructure is well developed.

This is a resort for a comfortable family vacation. The weather conditions here are especially pleasing: there is no sweltering heat in the resort, and due to the fact that Stara Planina Mountain covers the village from the north, it is reliably protected from cold winds. This wonderful resort is one of the most environmentally friendly places in the world, making it ideal for relaxation and recovery. Doctors recommend here to treat the lungs and carry out general wellness procedures..

Elenite offers a wide children's program: water polo, pool games, archery, a variety of entertainment daytime and evening programs

This holiday village is located in the middle of a nature reserve. Fine golden yellow sand and natural sand dunes - this is the beach strip, 4.5 km long. Its width in some places reaches 100 meters. The sea is calm and safe, the bottom is flat and gentle, convenient for swimming the smallest tourists.

This is not a story about any one particular journey. Several times I went to rest in Bulgaria, in the last two years on the southern coast - resorts located near the city of Burgas. And now I just want to describe some of the resorts and cities where I managed to visit. Maybe this will help someone in choosing a place to stay.

So South Coast is the biggest city Burgas Where does the plane actually land? The airport is located north of the city, so if you go from the airport to the resorts of Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Pomorie and St. Vlas, you do not need to pass through the city. But Sozopol is already on the other side of Burgas - to the south. Burgas Airport website: www.burgas-airport.bg.

Sunny Beach

About the resort: Sunny Beach is located about 35 km from Bourgas, and it is perhaps already the largest resort on the Bulgarian coast. There is also Golden Sands on the northern coast, but Sunny Beach has grown much more. In fact, this is a whole city, consisting only of hotels, cafes, shops, restaurants, clubs. City for tourists. The entertainment industry is in full swing here. Nightlife is in full swing. Party place. If you need a lot of entertainment - you are here!

Quite a lot of Germans, Dutch, Scandinavians, British, French, well, Russians, of course, rest here. Many, for example, rent apartments for the whole summer. New hotels are constantly being built here or existing ones are being remodeled. But construction is frozen for the summer, so there is no need to be afraid of cranes working under the window.

From all this, one might get the impression that everything is just horror-horror - there are only crazy hanging out teenagers around. But this is not so - completely different people of all ages rest here, and couples with children, and the elderly. Although there are a lot of tourists, especially in the peak season of July - August, there is somehow enough space for everyone. The downside, in my opinion, is mainly that Sunny Beach is like a kind of reservation for tourists, a little impersonal, it’s quite another thing to live in small Bulgarian towns, where the locals live. And yet, it’s not at all a fact that under the windows of your hotel there will be no cafe or discos where music will play until late.

But I love Sunny Beach, nevertheless, because if you don’t want to go to the club in the evening, you can not go, but sit peacefully on the balcony in your hotel, and if you want, you can go - everything is nearby. And in Sunny Beach there is a long - long wide sandy beach. The beach stretches for eight kilometers. Somewhere the beach strip is very wide, somewhere narrower.

Sunny Beach occupies a whole bay, on one side of it - in the north there will be a resort of St. Vlas, on the other - in the south - Nessebar. And before that, and to another, in principle, if desired, you can walk along the beach. And so such tourist trains go around the resort, they can be reached from more remote areas to the center, the fare for them costs about 1 euro.

Hotels: hotels, standing on the first line by the sea, are located, as a rule, from the beach across the promenade - a walking path lined with cafes and shops. Very few hotels go directly to the beach and not to the promenade. One of these exceptions is the 4* Burgas Hotel, for example, and the 3* Hotel Europe. Sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches are paid - they are not cheap - about 3 euros for a sunbed and the same amount for an umbrella, also with very rare exceptions, at the hotel pools - free.

The center of Sunny Beach is conditionally hotels "Kuban", "Globe" - this is the central alley of the resort, overlooking just this very promenade. Here is concentrated the main evening - night party. It's okay that the hotel is not on the first line by the sea, in my opinion, no. I myself once lived in the Trakia Hotel - this can probably even be considered the third line, although it is difficult to determine these very "lines" there. And it's okay - it's a seven-minute walk to the sea.

Some of the hotels stand apart, although they are also considered Sunny Beach, but in reality they are located between the central part of Sunny Beach and Nessebar. A very good residential area for someone who does not seem to want to live in a very quiet place, but still an active social life every day is not needed. These are the hotels "Amphora", "Kotva", "Imperial", "Nobel" and a number of others. It takes 30-40 minutes to walk to the resort center from here, or you can take a train. Here the beach is wider than in the very center, mainly due to the strip of sand dunes that you have to pass before you go out to the beach itself. And the sunbeds with umbrellas are not so dense - more space. And still very close to walk to Nessebar. In this area, I also lived in the hotel "Amphora" 3 * - very conveniently located, right by the beach.

The shops: A highway passes through Sunny Beach along its entire length, and conventionally the resort is divided into two parts: the one between the sea and this highway, and the one behind the highway. So, all the shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants that are located behind the highway, as a rule, are cheaper. And sometimes quite noticeable.

Food can be bought at every step. But the prices are not low, only the prices of wine are pleasing - a bottle of good wine costs 2-5 euros. From souvenirs, in my opinion, the most useful purchase is Bulgarian cosmetics based on rose oil, as well as ceramic dishes, tablecloths embroidered in the national style and silver jewelry. Clothing stores, shoes, bags and all kinds of beach accessories are also at every turn. In general, money fly away quickly.

Cafes, restaurants: there are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the resort! Walking on them is a pleasure. Now in many hotels they do an all-inclusive system. But, she is not needed there! Although, this is my personal opinion. And most likely, going to restaurants you will spend a total of more than if you took this "all inclusive" at once. But what freedom of choice! Very often in restaurants in the evening there is live music or some kind of folklore program .. The food in restaurants is tasty and plentiful! A portion can often be taken for two. Lunch at a restaurant with wine will cost about ten euros per person. And again, everything that is expensive is cheaper. If you move away from the sea, then for 5-6 euros you can eat well. As a rule, the menu is already everywhere in Russian, and in some places even with pictures of dishes for those who don’t understand what it is by name.

The most famous dishes of Bulgarian cuisine: Shopska salad, moussaka, kebapche - minced meat cutlets with spices, various soups - tarator, chicken (soup pie), bean soups, dishes with cheese, for example Shopska Sirene - a baked mixture of cheese, eggs and tomatoes, and many other goodies . All this is washed down, of course, with wine or brandy - a tincture of forty degrees, it can be different - grape, plum. The main phrase in Bulgarian is Healthy! Which means, of course - For health!

Transport: Ideally, of course, rent a car. If this is not possible, then it is quite possible to travel along the coast on regular buses. The bus station in Sunny Beach is across the street from the Svezhest Hotel. Bus connections to other cities are good. You can also travel around the country yourself. The schedule for all flights hangs next to the ticket office. Buses to Burgas and Nessebar run frequently - every 15-20 minutes. Buses to Varna - several times a day. There are buses to Sofia, Plovdiv and other cities.
How much is the fare from Sunny Beach to Nessebar? euro, to Burgas 2.5 euros, to Sozopol 5 euros.

Nessebar

The city is divided into two parts - New Nessebar and Old Nessebar. They are connected to each other by a narrow isthmus. Old Nessebar - one of my favorite places on the Bulgarian coast - is located on a small peninsula. Narrow streets, red roofs, ancient churches, houses with second floors hanging over the streets, typical for old Bulgarian cities, restaurants, souvenir shops.

The ancient name of Nessebar is Mesambria. Its history is very rich and, of course, inextricably linked with the sea and maritime trade. The city belonged to the Greeks, Romans, Byzantium, Turks. Of the ancient monuments, the fortress walls of the Old Town and churches are the most preserved. Some of them are now open art galleries, and some of them are only walls. The city is very cozy and different all the time. And in the Old City, some open-air concerts are periodically held in the evenings, most often in the amphitheater near the port.

Useful sites:
www.nessebar.net - a site about Nessebar, but not very informative, in my opinion
www.ancient-nessebar.com - history and museum of Nessebar
www.aquaparadise-bg.com - a water park in Nessebar, although it is not located in the city itself, but nearby

Hotels and beaches: most of the hotels are located in the New part of the city. In Old Nessebar there are also small hotels, but in our travel agencies they are practically not sold at all. In the Old Town there are two small beaches covered with small shells. In the New Town - a long sandy beach, which at the end smoothly flows into a nudist one. There are hotels that stand right along this beach - "Bilyana Beach", "Aphrodite", but most of the hotels are located on the streets of the New Part of the City, there are also private houses, shops, and cafes - everything is nearby, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach -fifteen. You can walk to the beach of Nessebar, or you can go down the other way (the New part of Nessebar stands on a hill above the sea) - and go to the beach of Sunny Beach, depending on where the hotel is located. There is, for example, such a hotel "Festa Panorama", so it is generally close to the beach of Sunny Beach.

Transport: you can get to Sunny Beach by train, but it will not take you to the center, but to the beginning of the resort, in order to get to the center of Sunny Beach, you will have to transfer again. It's more convenient to take the bus. The bus stop is located right at the entrance to the Old City. From here you can get to Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Burgas and Varna. There are also several bus stops in the New part of the city - that is, if you live there, you don’t have to stomp on the ring, you can get hooked on this bus there too. But you can also walk to Sunny Beach - first along the promenade along the sea, and then along the beach.

Cafes and shops: the whole Old Town is filled with souvenir shops! Sometimes even too much. There are a lot of cafes, like everywhere else. In the Old Town, prices are higher, especially in restaurants overlooking the sea.

Saint Vlas

A small modern resort town, located near Sunny Beach - about 5 km to the north. You can also walk to it, in principle, on foot along the sea or by bus. Now there is a lot of building - mostly aparthotels. They have already built up literally the entire territory between the sea and the highway, along which buses actually run. In such hotels, rooms, as a rule, are two or three rooms with kitchens, you can rent them for a long time. On St. Vlas, from the sea, there is immediately an uphill climb, which is not the case in Sunny Beach, where the terrain is absolutely flat. Cafes and shops are cheaper if you go up behind the highway.

Excursion to Sofia also takes two days, along the way it also includes a visit to the Rila Monastery - a stunningly beautiful place in the mountains. The tour costs about 95 euros. Useful websites: www.sofia.bg and www.sofiacityguide.bg.

Excursion Varna - Balchik- on the northern coast of Bulgaria, visiting the city of Varna, the Aladzha rock monastery near Golden Sands, the botanical garden and the palace of the Romanian queen in Balchik. It costs about 40 euros. Again, quite a bit of time is allotted for all very interesting sights. But it's always like that on tours. Website of the city of Varna: www.aboutvarna.ru.

Excursion to Sozopol(unless, of course, you do not live there, but live, for example, in Sunny Beach) takes almost a whole day. It is usually combined with an excursion to the Ropotamo nature reserve, which is located near Sozopol. The cost is 30 euros.

And of course everyone's favorite evening programs "Bulgarian village"! Dinner at a national restaurant with a folklore program and wine from a tap! It costs about 25 euros. On the way back, everyone sings on the bus.

Yes, Bulgaria is still a good country...

Rest in the resorts of Bulgaria is a great option for a family. This country has amazingly beautiful mountains, azure sea and healthy thermal springs. Which resort to choose for a seaside holiday in Bulgaria? This is the first question every traveler asks himself. When we chose a resort on the Black Sea, we “shoveled” a lot of information and reviews on the Internet. In this article we will briefly talk about the features of the popular resorts on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. All you have to do is choose your holiday.

Sea resorts in Bulgaria are different in popularity, budget, nature, beaches, availability of infrastructure and attractions. They are located along the entire coast of the Black Sea (which is about 400 km) in two large regions of Bulgaria: on the northern coast and the southern coast. They are separated by the Stara Planina mountain range covered with forests. It crashes into the Black Sea between the resort towns of Obzor and Elenite. In this place, the rocks of Cape Emine, the extreme point of Staraya Planina, rise above the waves.

Cape Emine is the conditional border between the northern and southern coasts.

Resorts on the northern coast of Bulgaria located between Romania and Obzor resort. The most popular of them are Kavarna, Albena, Golden Sands, St. Constantine and Elena, Byala, Obzor.

Resorts of the northern coast of Bulgaria on the map.

Resorts on the southern coast of Bulgaria- start from Elenite and stretch along the coast to the border with Turkey. The most famous are Elenite, St. Vlas, Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Burgas, Sozopol, Dunes, Tsarevo.

Weather in Bulgaria

The northern and southern resort regions of Bulgaria are separated by the Stara Planina mountain range, which protects the southern coast from the northern cold winds.

The difference in air temperature between the southern and northern resort regions is only 2 degrees. A little warmer in the south, there is less rainfall than in the north. Sea currents also contribute to the fact that the water in the south of Bulgaria warms up earlier and cools down longer than on the northern coast of the Black Sea.

On the south coast, the beach season begins in early June and ends at the end of September. We rested from June 5 to June 12. For the first 5 days we even swam, the sea warmed up to 21-23 degrees. For a long time in such water you will not splash with children. But we often went out to bask on the shore))) Sunbathing at this time on the beach is a pleasure: an average of + 25 degrees, the sun is gentle and not scorching.

The rest of the two days we were not lucky with the weather: rain, cloudy, strong wind, cold water. June is the wettest summer month, but usually the rains are delayed for 2-3 days and then the sun shines again.

On the northern coast, the beach season comes into force a little later - in mid-June and lasts until mid-September. Rainy weather in June and September is more frequent here than in the south. But it also passes in 2-3 days.

If you decide to relax on the sea in Bulgaria in the first half of June or September, then it is better to choose the resorts of the southern Black Sea coast. So you have more chances to swim and sunbathe in the sun.

High beach season in the seaside resorts of Bulgaria: July-August. The water in the sea warms up to 23-25 degrees in July and 24-26 degrees in August, and the air temperature averages 25-30 degrees. A pleasant breeze blows from the sea, so the heat is almost not felt. At this time, you can choose to rest in any resort on the northern or southern coast of Bulgaria.

Beaches in Bulgaria

Of the 400 km of the coastline of the Black Sea coast, 130 km are occupied by beaches with fine golden sand. "Blue flag"- a prestigious international award that is given to beaches every year in early June for the quality and purity of water, safe swimming and environmental friendliness. In 2016, the beaches of such resorts were marked with the Blue Flag: Sunny Day, Sveti Vlas, Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Sozopol, Dunes and Lozenets. Up-to-date information can be found on the organization's website.

The longest and largest sandy beach in Bulgaria is “Kakaobich” in the resort of Sunny Beach. Its length is about 10 km, and its width is 100 m. The widest sandy beach (150 m from the water's edge) is in Albena.

When we choose beach resorts, we try to avoid beaches near major seaports. We think that near them the water cannot be clean, environmentally friendly and safe for swimming. The major ports of Bulgaria are located in the cities of Varna and Burgas. We do not recommend going to these cities for a beach holiday. And on excursions, please)))

And now more about the resorts of each region of the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.

Northern coast of Bulgaria

It stretches from Cape Emine and the Obzor resort to the Rusalka resort and the border with Romania.

Beaches: The northern coastline of the Black Sea is very diverse. High cliffs, rocky shores and bays of the Rusalka, Kavarna, Balchik resorts gradually replace the wide sandy beaches of Albena, Kranevo, Golden Sands, Riviera.

More recently, Rusalka was a prestigious resort of a closed club type. A calm seaside holiday in a complex of villas was valued here. But the infrastructure is lame: it is inconvenient to get here by public transport, there are no good supermarkets, and prices in local restaurants are off the charts. In recent years, children's camps have been organized at the Rusalka resort. Now with the silence of the problem)))

Vacation with children. The resorts of Albena, Kranevo, Sunny Day are best for relaxing at sea with kids. FROM older children and teenagers In addition to these places of rest, we also recommend Golden Sands, Kavarna, Topola.

Come to the resorts of Bulgaria, and they will illuminate your trip with a rainbow of emotions!

Coast of Bulgaria It is convenient to divide according to the following criteria: geographical location and tourist attraction. The first is to answer the question of how to get there. The second is the question of where to rest.

Let's analyze the questions: which Bulgarian resort is better? which vacation spot to choose? what is the best way to get to the sea?

Geographic division of the Bulgarian coast

Geographically, the Bulgarian coast is divided into northern and southern. The first covers the territory from Kavarna in the north to Obzor in the south. The administrative center of the northern coast is the city of Varna. The southern coast stretches from Sunny Beach in the north to the village of Sinemorets in the south. Its administrative center is the city of Burgas.

The geographical division corresponds to the transport network. The resort towns must be reached through the administrative center.

Modern resorts are concentrated mostly on the northern coast. On the south side you can find old towns with beautiful architecture.

"Tourist" division of the Bulgarian coast

There are three types of holiday destinations: coastal towns, resort villages, and old towns.

1. Resort towns. Specialized resort villages, where everything is aimed at a beach holiday. There are many of our tourists, a lot of beaches. The building is relatively new, bright and monotonous. These are Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, etc. Major port cities also have a coastal resort sector, such as St. Constantine and Helena, adjacent to Varna.

2. Ordinary towns and villages. Less well known are small coastal towns or fishing villages where you can also relax. This category includes Obzor, Balchik, Sinemorets and others. The tourist infrastructure is less developed here, there are no special attractions, prices are more moderate, fewer people.

3. Old cities. Monuments of ancient Bulgarian architecture by the sea. And the beaches are nearby. The brightest representatives are Nessebar and Sozopol. Such cities are divided into old and new areas.

The old town is traditional, with beautiful architecture. Here you can find both quiet cozy streets and places teeming with sightseers. In older areas, there are small family-type hotels or private rooms.

New areas of the city have modern hotel development and a developed entertainment sector. The new districts of the old cities practically do not differ from the resort villages.

Fans of noisy holidays in the company of compatriots are more suitable for resort towns and new beach areas of ancient cities. Those who love silence and solitude will rather like ordinary towns and villages by the sea, as well as the ancient districts of architectural monuments.

However, each city has its own characteristics. Let's consider them below.
