Tips for tourists China Hainan. What should you definitely take with you to China? General information about the Hainan hotel base

Hello everyone, my dears! Today I will try to answer the question: how much money should you take with you to Hainan Island? And I will share information about where it is most profitable to change money.

Of course, it all depends on what you are going to do there: whether you will attend excursions, massages, etc. How many and what gifts are you going to buy?

In this article:

How much money do you need and for what?

On our first trip (in 2011), we went on many excursions, visited many places on our own, had massages 4 times, often used taxis (since we lived far from the center), bought clothes, equipment and much more. On that trip, not counting the purchase of travel packages, we spent about 10,000 yuan in 14 days for two of us.

This time we decided to give up excursions, massages and expensive purchases. Our budget was distributed between three main areas:

  • food (the largest expense item),
  • gifts and shopping,
  • travel

We spent 2200 yuan on all this in 7 days. Of this, food costs accounted for approximately 75%.

That is, we expected that for one day for two we would need 300 yuan. And this was enough for us to visit cafes/restaurants, eat fruit for breakfast/lunch/dinner, buy gifts and travel by bus to neighboring bays or markets.

But first things first.

1. Hotel deposit

The hotel is the first place where we started spending money in Sanya. Upon check-in, we were asked to leave a deposit: 5000 rubles, 500 yuan, 100 dollars or 100 euros.

It is most profitable to leave 500 yuan.

They say that it was possible to book these funds on a card, but this was not possible with our cards. So we left the deposit in cash.

This pledge later came back to haunt us, and we almost left most of it in Chinese hands. As it was, you can read in the article how the Chinese are deceiving Russian tourists.

My advice is this: add the amount of the deposit to the main amount of expenses, since you will not see the money left until you check out of the hotel.

That is, if you expect to take 300 yuan per day with you for 7 days, then you need to take with you:

2100+500=2600 yuan.

2. Food

As mentioned above, 75% of expenses on the second trip are food.

We ate a lot. I wanted to try everything, visit every cafe and saturate my body with fruits, of which there are plenty in Hainan.

Our meals were structured approximately as follows:

  1. Morning: breakfast at the hotel (included in the price of the tour) + fruit (in the room).
  2. Day: lunch in a cafe, at the market, in eateries + fruit (taken with you) + dessert (ice cream, pastries).
  3. Dinner in a cafe/restaurant + popsicles (required!) + dessert (fruits, juices, sweets).

We bought fruits in advance, so we always had them in stock.

Where we ate, how much it cost, and what kind of food we liked - . In it I talk about cafes, restaurants, markets, grocery stores and more.

3. Gifts and shopping

Now I will list what gifts we bought and how much it cost.

  • Fruits: large mangoes - 6 pcs, pineapples - 4 pcs - 80 yuan
  • Mango and coconut candies in boxes 4 pcs, in bags 3 pcs - 28 yuan
  • Canned coconut juice 3 cans - 11 yuan
  • Children's toothbrushes with toys 4 pcs - 20 yuan
  • Various types of tea - 150 yuan
  • Water bottles 2 pcs - 25 yuan

What things did we buy for ourselves during our vacation?

  1. Flip-flops - 15 yuan
  2. Sun umbrella - 18 yuan
  3. Sunscreen cream – 15 yuan
  4. Sunburn cream - 35 yuan

Where you can buy relatively inexpensive gifts, and in general about all the supermarkets and shopping centers that we managed to visit, I will write a separate article.

4. Transport costs

Let's start with buses.

A bus ticket in the Da Dong Hai and Sanya Bay areas, as well as between them, costs 2 yuan per passenger. If you are going to travel from Da Dong Hai Bay to Yalong Bay (which is a 40-minute journey), the fare will cost 7 yuan per passenger.

A taxi has a base cost of 10 yuan, the rest is calculated by the meter and depends on the distance. For example, one average trip around the city cost us 16 yuan.

Read more about transport: how to pay and how to explain where you need to get to in this article.

5. Excursions and tickets

The most expensive excursions are offered by hotel guides.

For example, for three excursions (monkey island, hot springs and park) you will have to pay approximately 700 yuan per person.

You can meet guides on the street, their prices are slightly lower. If you go on your own, for example, to the same sources, it will be even cheaper.

6. Other expenses

There are plenty of places in Sanya where you can leave your money. Here are a few more points that may be useful to you:

  • rental of soft sun loungers under an umbrella - 25 yuan,
  • lockers for storing valuables on the beach - 20 yuan for 6 hours,
  • rental of a scooter for 1 day - 100 yuan,
  • Rent an umbrella at the hotel with a deposit of 100 yuan.

Of course, you can easily do without all this.

Where is the best place to change money?

It is best to exchange money in advance, back in Russia. Just Google which banks in your city offer RMB.

In our case it was the Asia-Pacific Bank. Exchanged at the rate: 1 yuan = 8.93 rubles. I know that there is a Bank of China in Moscow, perhaps the rate there is even more favorable.

If you did not have time to exchange money in Russia, you can do so upon arrival at any Bank of China branch. For example, at this branch located across the street from the Pineapple Shopping Center.

The rate is also acceptable, we withdrew cash at a price of 1 yuan = 9.3 rubles.

The most unfavorable rate was that of all the other money changers: guides and hotel staff. 1 yuan will cost 10 rubles.

I hope this article helped you roughly estimate how much money you will need for your vacation. If you still have any questions, be sure to ask in the comments, I will try to answer them.

That's all for today, have a nice holiday everyone. Bye!

Sincerely, Elena.

When compiling a list of what to take with you to China, first of all you need to take into account the time of year and the climate in the region. Important factors include the chosen means of transportation, the planned route and the purpose of the trip.

Luggage (shoes, clothes), hand luggage and what is prohibited from taking with you

Even for a short visit to China, you need to collect a certain amount of things, medicines and a set of basic documents - what is absolutely necessary to take with you to China.

You can pack your luggage in backpacks for those who prefer active recreation, and in travel suitcases on wheels, convenient for family trips. Both the first and second ones should not be heavy because sometimes you will need to carry luggage in your hands (on steps, on poor road surfaces). It is very convenient to put uncomfortable suitcases into storage, and go on walks and excursions with a small backpack.

In a large bag you should place:

  • clothes;
  • shoes;
  • small towel;
  • small packages of hygiene products;
  • if necessary - some cutlery (in China, mainly chopsticks);
  • cosmetics;
  • other little things that you won’t need on the road.

A small backpack or bag that remains with you should contain:

  • money;
  • documentation;
  • laptop or tablet PC;
  • an unlocked phone into which a Chinese SIM card is inserted upon arrival;
  • cords, adapters, chargers;
  • photo or video device;
  • literature or periodicals;
  • medications;
  • sunglasses;
  • umbrella or raincoat;
  • some food.

Flight rules apply a number of requirements to hand luggage. If the control service of your home country does not make any claims to your luggage, then some difficulties may arise when passing customs inspection in China.

During the flight, China prohibits the transport of packaged goods:

  • mineral water, drinks, soups, syrups;
  • cosmetics, perfumes, creams, lotions, oils, etc.;
  • sprays, deodorants, foams;
  • toothpaste and other paste;
  • contact lenses;
  • hair and shower gels.

All liquids must be in sealed containers whose volume does not exceed 100 ml. They must be hermetically packed in transparent plastic bags with a volume of up to one liter; only one bag is allowed to be taken in hand luggage; everything else must be checked in as luggage.

All transported medications must be marked in Latin and you should only take the necessary ones in your hand luggage; the rest should be placed in your checked baggage. It is possible that you will have to explain how vital it is to have these medications on hand.

Upon arrival and after checking in, most things can be left at the hotel or in a storage room in the hostel, but you must always take documents, money and keys with you.

What documents and money should I take?

In order to leave the country, you need to have the appropriate documents: a passport and a visa issued by the Chinese consulate. In cases where there is a request for a business trip to China, a single-entry visa is issued, which can be obtained at Beijing airport.

There must also be medical insurance, which is often issued by a travel agency, vouchers for transit services, and an air ticket.

An international driver's license is suitable for those who like to travel long distances across the country. If you plan to visit many remote places, then it is very practical and profitable to rent a car, but you should remember that Chinese roads are crowded with both cars and motorcycles, scooters and bicycles.

If you need to travel with someone else’s child, then a power of attorney must be issued for him.

It is advisable to travel to China with cash converted into dollars. It is not at all necessary to exchange money for Chinese yuan in advance, because exchange offices are located throughout the country.

It is practical to take Visa or MasterCard, but your bank should provide information about servicing your card in China. To prevent the card from being blocked, in some cases the bank writes an application to provide the opportunity to withdraw funds.

Among the additional things to take to China, you can also highlight the issue of a youth card, sometimes it gives you the opportunity to get a 50% discount on some services.

Necessary set of shoes and clothing

When choosing shoes and clothes for a trip to the country, you need to take into account the weather, season and planned travel routes.

What to take with you to China in winter? Weather conditions during this period, visiting the northern regions and climbing mountain peaks suggest replenishing your wardrobe with warm clothes. Of course, it is unwise to take a fur coat, but a light, warm jacket is ideal for these purposes. In case of rain, tourists must have an umbrella or raincoat.

The rest of the wardrobe includes a simple set of necessary clothes:

  • T-shirts - several pieces;
  • shorts or skirts;
  • underwear;
  • trousers or jeans;
  • sweater or sweatshirt;
  • socks;
  • beachwear and swimsuit;
  • sleepwear.

If you plan to visit restaurants or formal events, then your wardrobe should include an evening dress or a shirt and trousers. It is not necessary to take many sets of clothes because most hotels and hostels have laundries. There are also plenty of such establishments on city streets. And, of course, you can buy the missing item at any time during a trip to the store.

  • light open shoes;
  • shoes for going out;
  • closed shoes;
  • Beach shoes;
  • slippers.

In China, only shoes in small and standard sizes are sold. People with larger feet may want to take a spare pair with them from home.

Permitted medications and first aid kit contents

When going to China, you should remember that traditional medicine is thriving in the country. There are also pharmacies, but they probably don’t speak English. It is worth carefully considering the question: What medications should you take with you to China? You don’t need to take a lot of all kinds of medications with you (only your personal, minimal set).

Basic medications that your first aid kit should contain:

  • individual medications;
  • antipyretics;
  • antiviral drugs;
  • painkillers;
  • remedies for poisoning, heartburn;
  • bandage, plaster;
  • means for treating wounds.

What other medications should I take to China? - Medicines that will be relevant. If you have a disease for which you need to administer the necessary drugs intramuscularly, then you need to stock up on syringes. They are sold in China only in hospitals.

Hygiene, cosmetics and useful little things – what is needed and possible?

Basic body care products are available in most hotels, but it’s still worth checking if a bathrobe and towel are available. These things fall into the category of expensive purchases. Cosmetics are applied only at your request, but taking into account the fact that there are no sun protection products in China.

List of items you need to take with you to China:

  • shower gel, soap, shampoo (optional);
  • deodorant, personal perfume;
  • toothbrush and toothpaste;
  • manicure accessories;
  • feminine hygiene products;
  • cotton pads and sanitary napkins;
  • combs, body sponges;
  • decorative cosmetics.

The above-mentioned means for saving space in luggage should be small in volume, and you can buy Chinese analogues anywhere.

During a long flight, books, crosswords, and magazines will come in handy. Your favorite gadget, in which you can install games, books or movies, will help brighten up your flight hours.

While traveling you may find it useful:

  • cards;
  • phrase book or signs with basic words or phrases;
  • flashlight;
  • insect repellents;
  • hair dryer, camera;
  • adapter and chargers.

Hello everyone 8)
I bring to your attention a note on the topic of what you need and what you don’t need to take with you to China if you are traveling on your own. Especially if you are going to have a good drive around the country, which is outside of Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong for two weeks or more.
The information is quite universal, no special changes are expected in this list in the coming years, and questions of this kind, in my humble experience, are often encountered, therefore, I hope it will be useful.
If you have questions, ask, I will answer.

WHAT TO TAKE
Let's start with luggage. If you are going on a trip for two weeks or more, you will need:
1.) Large backpack / suitcases with wheels
2.) Small backpack for 20-30 liters
3.) A bag for every day.

If you are in shape and are used to traveling with backpacks, take backpacks.

If you don’t want to travel with backpacks or don’t have any, you can take suitcases with wheels. But keep in mind: suitcases should not be very large, ideally up to 7-8 kg, because from time to time you will have to carry them in your hands up the steps (somewhere in the subway and at train stations) and roll them over small gravel, sand and other unsmooth surfaces - it’s a pity wheels.
You can combine: put some things in compact backpacks, and some in a suitcase on wheels.
You will always have small backpacks with you, and you will give large backpacks/suitcases to the luggage compartment of buses, trains and other places, depending on the situation.

1.) Large backpack / suitcases on wheels. In a large backpack/suitcase you will have:
- cloth
- shoes
- small towel (for the train)

2.) A small backpack will contain things that are often needed and equipment:
- money and bank cards
- passports
- insurance
- photographic equipment
- laptop\tablet
- a phone that is not tied to or locked to a specific network operator. otherwise you will not be able to insert a Chinese SIM card into it
- all cords and chargers
- adapter (if necessary, you can buy it in Beijing)
- light-bound books/reader
- cosmetic bag with hand cream/sun cream/anti-bite cream/hygienic lipstick
- earplugs: sometimes the train or hostel can be noisy
- basic medications such as patches, tablets for headaches and stomach pain (out of habit, many people get naughty) - the rest, as a rule, can be bought on the spot
- your specific medications
- tampons for women, razors for men, deodorants for both - there may be disruptions outside Beijing. If you're unlucky, just remember to buy in Beijing.
- a jacket, sweater or shawl in case of cold (depending on the season), a thermal jacket, if available.
- sunglasses
- umbrella (depending on the season)
- headlamp (may be useful, but not necessary)
- something to chew

3.) A bag for every day.
When traveling, it is absolutely not necessary to walk all day long in trekking boots, a Panama hat, with a backpack, binoculars and a net.
You will spend part of your time in absolutely civilized conditions in the center of large and small cities, where you can easily change into pumps, sneakers, flip-flops and even a skirt, and hang a comfortable bag over your shoulder instead of a backpack.
You can safely leave most of your things in your room or lock them in a special room in your hostel, and a bag with a passport, wallet, camera, keys and a map of the area will be quite enough.

* WHAT NOT TO TAKE
- a full bag of medicines, bandages and a stretcher
- family packs of shampoos and soaps of 2 liters. In China, tiny bottles of everything are sold on every corner for pennies, incl. Toothpaste - you will buy more as needed, it’s a shame to carry it around.

When planning a trip to another country, every person is interested in knowing the features of the resort, cuisine, climate, excursion program and other interesting things. He searches for information on the Internet, asks friends who have vacationed there before. In this review I will try to give a detailed description of Hainan Island, where fate took me on my first trip abroad.

1. The word “Hainan” is translated into Russian as “Island south of the sea.” This island has many other interesting names. “East Hawaii” was named so for its location at the same latitude as the world-famous resort of “Hawaii” and for its favorable climate, conducive to the development of tourism and recreation. Hainan is also called the “Island of Centenarians” due to the abundance of coconuts responsible for eternal youth.

2. “Hainan” is a large tropical island in southern China, washed on all sides by the South China Sea. There are no industrial enterprises on the island, so it is one of the most environmentally friendly places in the world. The sun, sea, azure endless beaches, snow-white sand, rich flora and air filled with sea freshness and the unusual aroma of the island itself, thermal springs, grandiose park areas and ancient Chinese traditions - make Hainan Island a unique and inimitable place for people to relax and play sports. from all over the world

3. The main feature of the resort is year-round recreation, since the number of sunny days per year is more than 300. The hottest months are July and August, when the average monthly temperature reaches 29°-33° C. Air humidity is about 70-75%, and in the summer up to 90%, so try to avoid visiting the island at the height of this period. The rainy season on the island lasts from late August to September. The rain suddenly starts, lasts for 20-30 minutes and then the sun returns, it’s hot and you can go swimming. The golden (favorable) season for holidays in Hainan is from November to May. You can bask in the bright sun, swim, dive and surf, or sail on a yacht.

4. All tourists visiting Hainan Island are included in the group visa-free list ($20 and a scanned copy of the passport page with a photo). If a tourist travels individually, then based on an invitation, he will apply for a visa upon arrival. Hainan has 2 main cities: Haikou (the capital) and Sanya. The center of mass tourism is Sanya. Tourists fly into Phoenix Airport (named after the palm tree growing on the island).

5. The national currency of China is the yuan. 100 dollars is about 620-650 yuan. 1 yuan is about 5 rubles. Currency exchange is possible in banks, with a guide, at the airport. The least profitable exchange is in hotels, as the exchange rate is too high. It is best to exchange money for the national Chinese currency, since local residents do not particularly like it when they pay in dollars or euros. Many hotels require a deposit per room. On average it ranges from $100 and above, some require a deposit in RMB.

6. Hainan is a paradise for gourmets: the freshest seafood, tropical fruits (mango, papaya, durian, coconut, mangosteen, carambola) and vegetables, coconut juice and famous Chinese tea. There are many varieties of Chinese tea: green, black, jasmine, white and oolong. Tea varieties are in great demand ( Kudin, snowy, Black dragon, Emperor's concubine, Pu-Er tea). 50 grams of tea costs from 8-15 yuan and above, it all depends on the type of tea. Seafood lovers will feel like they are in heaven. Seafood is kept in aquariums right on the streets: lobsters, lobsters, shrimp, crabs, oysters, red fish, squid, cuttlefish, sea urchins, eel, shark, sea carp - this is not a complete list of what you can catch from an aquarium on the streets Dadonghai Bay. Methods for preparing seafood are as varied as the range: they are served fried, boiled, stewed. In general, one of the most favorite places for tourists in terms of food is the nickel near the Summer Mall shopping center. On a large area there are about 10-15 stalls with food from Japanese cuisine to Chinese. Here you can eat a plate of shrimp for 25-28 yuan, or Chinese noodles for 10 yuan. In general, you won’t die of hunger here; you can find food for every taste and every budget. Be sure to try natural fruit juices, a large selection that will pleasantly surprise you.

7. The Chinese are lovers of everything hot, spicy and sweet and sour. This is very strongly expressed in Chinese cuisine, especially in Hainan. Many of our tourists are not used to so much spicy and fatty food. Therefore, in the end, many people eat only fruits, or go to cafes and restaurants where Russian dishes are prepared.

8. Although the Chinese are very friendly people, they will not miss their chance to make money, this applies to taxi drivers, souvenir sellers, and fruit sellers. They are all scamming our brother, so don’t give in and bargain all the time. In Hainan they like it when they bargain and reduce the price by 30-50% from the original one. True, their trading system is primitive. Take a canculator, the Chinese write his price, you write yours. The price goes down, you insist on your price. As a result, after 10-15 minutes of trading, the goods are given to you at your price. It is best to bargain with the company. When there are many people, the Chinese give more money than to one person.

9. There is a very strong language barrier in Hainan. The bulk of the population speaks the local, national language. There are very few Russian speakers, only in Dadonghai. In Yalongwan and Sanya bays, almost no Russian is spoken. English is more common, but not all of our tourists can speak English fluently.

10. Ask your hotel to write down where you are going in hieroglyphs on your hotel card. Otherwise, taxi drivers will not understand you. Honestly speaking, it is precisely because of the terrible traffic on the island that the holiday can rightfully be called extreme. The Chinese do not follow traffic rules, drive like crazy, cut off, drive in the oncoming lane. You need to be very careful when crossing the street. At pedestrian crossings, you literally have to cross the road, as cars don't stop. If you want to rent a car or scooter, then don't even think about it. Officially, citizens of other countries are not allowed to drive on Chinese roads.

11. An interesting feature of the local residents is that 80% of the Chinese, especially the residents of Hainan, do not know how to swim. You can see an interesting picture: buses with Chinese people arrive. They go out, wet their feet up to the knees, take pictures against the backdrop of the sea, and take a walk. But they don’t swim. Local residents love to take pictures with tourists, especially with fair-haired girls. For many, we look like something outlandish. Sometimes it seems like they are seeing light-skinned people for the first time.

12. When tourists come to another country, they want to bring a souvenir as a souvenir. People usually bring from Hainan: silk products, pearls (black, white, pink), tea, crystal, medicinal herbs and cosmetics, souvenirs, fruits and equipment (phones, cameras, cameras). Souvenirs can be bought on Pedestrian Street (next to McDonald's). This is a 3-story building: the first floor is souvenirs, cosmetics, things, the second is things, the third is equipment. Another place where you can buy is the Dadonghai Winter and Summer stores. From here there is a mini bazaar going deeper into the streets, where you can buy tea, silk, etc.

13. Hainan offers very interesting and varied excursion programs: monkey island, shell and pearl museums, a delightful “Rock Garden”, an ancient Buddhist complex surrounded by a stunning park, the “Edge of the World” national park, a walk through the jungle where no one has gone before person. The diversity of the underwater world, coral islands allows you to engage in water sports, including paragliding and bathyscaphe, and sea fishing with lunch from the freshly caught catch.

You need to arrive at the airport 2.5 hours before departure. Be aware of the free baggage allowance and surcharge for excess baggage. Tickets indicate local time. To board the flight you need:

  • Go through customs inspection and fill out a customs declaration. If the amount of money you are exporting is less than $3,000 per person and you do not have items that must be declared, then you do not need to fill out a declaration. When filling out the form, do not forget to indicate the entire amount of foreign currency that you took with you. Keep the customs declaration until your return to Russia.
  • Check in for your flight at the check-in counter and receive your boarding pass. The check-in counter number is located on the central display opposite your flight number. All questions about your seat number on the plane can only be resolved at the check-in counter.
  • Go through border control in any booth.
  • Board the plane through the gate number indicated on your boarding pass.

Passengers on international flights undergo customs, passport and security control, after which they wait for their flight to take off in the sterile area of the international airlines gallery. When going through security checks, you must present your passport and boarding pass.

When transporting animals or plants, it is necessary to undergo phytocontrol / veterinary control.

The time of meeting with the hotel guide will be informed to you by the accompanying person (transferman) on the way to the hotel. At the appointed time, you must approach the hotel guide, who will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby. To the meeting, take with you your passport, voucher, and return flight ticket.
