Coral island thailand. Coral Island in Phuket: review, photos, reviews

Coral Island is a coral island near Phuket. This is an amazingly beautiful place with white beaches and magnificent tropical vegetation. Its dimensions are 500×2500 m. The distance from the nearest point of Phuket is 5 km, the distance to Chalong Pier is 10 km. This is a truly paradise island that will not leave any tourist indifferent.

The sand here is perfectly white, the sea is clean and calm. The lush vegetation that almost completely covers the island pleases the eye with its freshness and richness. The close location of coral reefs allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of this natural creation, as well as watch the life of numerous schools of tropical fish - an excellent place for snorkeling, which is many times better here than, for example, in Phuket. If you are a lover of passive beach holidays, then it will delight you with the opportunity to enjoy the cleanliness and whiteness of the sandy beaches. If, over time, you get tired of simply lying on the beach, then at the resort you can find more exciting entertainment, for example, jet ski rides or parasailing around the area.

Due to the absence of numerous buildings and infrastructure facilities, the nature of the island has been preserved almost in its original form. Here you can still find rare exotic birds, which are rightfully a living decoration of the resort. There is only one hotel complex on the island - Coral Island Resort, and there are also several restaurant establishments. The lack of overload with modern infrastructure is precisely what attracts many tourists, since this way one feels much better at oneness with nature, which is simply magnificent on this island.

Coral Island is a protected place offering its guests a peaceful atmosphere, comfort and excellent service. Combined with the indescribable beauty of nature, the island is an excellent option for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. This is a great place for those who are tired of crowded beaches and noisy resorts. Here you can fully relax, relieve all accumulated stress and enjoy all the natural attractions that the island is rich in.

During the daytime, Coral Island is filled with tourists coming from Phuket. But in the evening, serene silence and peace reigns here, for which tourists value this particular resort so much.

How to get to Coral Island?

In order to get to an exotic island, you can use at least three options.

One of the options for visiting the island resort is to purchase an excursion trip. You can purchase a tour from 1000 baht in Phuket. This amount, in addition to the excursion itself, usually includes transfer and lunch. This is one of the most popular options for visiting the resort.
The second way to visit Coral Island is to rent a wooden boat from Chalong Pier. Such a trip will cost approximately 1,500 baht.
And the third option for visiting the island resort is a boat trip. You can also rent a boat in Chalong. The cost of this pleasure varies quite widely, but, as a rule, the trip costs 6,000–9,000 baht. You can significantly reduce the price by haggling with the owners of the boats, and this is quite common practice.

Island climate:

Coral Island will appear in all its splendor between November and March. This period is characterized by pleasant sunny weather without precipitation. If you are tired of the cold and want to soak up the snow-white beach for at least a few days, then go during this period of time.
From April to October, the weather on the island changes. The heat becomes more noticeable, frequent heavy rains come, and air humidity rises. If you suddenly plan to visit the resort during these months, then the worsening weather conditions should definitely be taken into account.

Hotels and beaches of the island:

You are guaranteed a wonderful beach holiday on Coral Island, because there are two excellent beaches here. These are Long Beach, which is 800 m long, and Banana Beach, which is 200 m long.

Both beaches are located in the northern part of the island. Thanks to this location and protection from the winds, the sea near the coast is always quiet, and this is the best way to ensure a good rest.
Long Beach is more popular and visited. This is where almost all excursions arrive and this is where the only hotel on the island is located. If you prefer a relaxing holiday, then you should go to Banana Beach. You can even get there on foot, crossing the hill that separates these two beaches. This way you can evaluate the advantages of both beaches and choose the one that will satisfy your needs in all respects.
As mentioned earlier, there is only one hotel in the resort - Coral Island Resort. It is located on the east side of Long Beach. The hotel complex consists of several cottages in classic Thai style to accommodate tourists. The cost of accommodation per day starts from 2700 baht. Of course, this is not the lowest cost, however, given the magnificent nature and high-quality service, the price set for accommodation will be quite acceptable.

A holiday here is perfect for newlyweds or those who simply want to step away from the hustle and bustle and relax in a quiet, relaxing environment.
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a terrace where you can sunbathe in the pleasant rays of the sun. Guests at the hotel can also enjoy a relaxing Thai massage. There is free access to the Internet, which will especially please those who, even on vacation, do not want to part with their virtual life. The design of the hotel rooms is made in a characteristic exotic style, and wooden furniture is used for the interior furnishings. Each room has air conditioning, TV and a minibar. Huge windows offer stunning views of the snow-white beach and bright, green spaces. So, in order to get to the beach, you just need to leave your room.
You can satisfy your hunger in the restaurant, which is located on site. Here you can taste both traditional dishes and international cuisine. In the cafe you can treat yourself to delicious desserts and ice cream. If you want to have a romantic dinner, the hotel will organize it for you right on the beach under the open starry sky.

In the evening, the island has a fairly quiet and peaceful atmosphere. There are practically no show programs or animations held here. But in the daytime, both beaches live a very busy life due to the numerous tourists who come to the island as part of the excursion program. These are mainly tourists coming from Phuket.

Where can I eat?

If you arrived on the island on an excursion visit and managed to get hungry while exploring the natural beauty, then you can replenish your energy in one of the restaurants that are located on both beaches. The restaurants offer a fairly extensive menu, consisting of a variety of dishes from both Asian and European cuisine.
If you are a guest at the Coral Island Resort, you will be provided with a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a restaurant on site with excellent cuisine.

Entertainment

The main attraction, perhaps, can be called the very nature of the island. For most tourists arriving here, the main goal is just a beach holiday and enjoying the exotic beauties of the local nature. The underwater world deserves special attention, so you should definitely get a diving mask and snorkel to independently explore the life that flows rapidly under the surface of the water. The purest water allows you to explore the underwater world without the need for deep diving. The favorite pastime for many tourists is feeding striped fish, which swim in the local waters in whole schools. However, it is still recommended to do this in the presence of an instructor.
Fans of underwater fishing will also be able to fully enjoy their hobby. By the way, the fish trophies you catch can be cooked in a local restaurant and served to you for lunch.

Also, as options for active recreation, tourists can rent jet skis and fly with a parachute attached to a boat. This will not only help you get a dose of adrenaline and recharge with positive emotions, but will also allow you to explore the beauty of the island from a different perspective.
It is worth noting that a variety of water activities are available on both beaches of the island. And if the length of your vacation allows, then you can try out all the options for active entertainment. If you want to relax and energize your body, there are special outdoor massage cabins on Long Beach. Professional massage therapists will help you perk up and restore your vitality.

The Coral Island Resort offers diving courses for everyone. The duration of the courses is four days. So, if you speak English well enough, in which they are taught, you can acquire a new hobby, which you can try here. The hotel also organizes batik training courses.

Attractions:

The main attraction, of course, is the coral reefs, thanks to which the island received its name. Crystal clear water, numerous corals, whole schools of exotic fish and all kinds of marine life - a snorkeling tourist can see all this and much more with his own eyes. It is this island that attracts diving enthusiasts, because in addition to stunning nature, it has all the necessary conditions and appropriate infrastructure.

If you want to observe the life of the underwater world, but are not in the mood for diving, then you can realize your dream in another way - book an excursion trip on a glass-bottom boat. This rather extreme entertainment will leave only the most vivid memories in your memory.

In addition to visually enjoying the natural attractions of the island, which in itself is an excellent vacation for the soul, it is worth taking time to take care of the body. For this purpose, the resort has special massage parlors where you can have a great time with great benefits for the body.

Coral Island, a surprisingly beautiful island with fine white sand and luxurious tropical vegetation, is located a few kilometers south of Phuket.

The dimensions of Coral Island are 500 x 2500 m, from the nearest point of Phuket Island, Coral Island is 5 km, and from Chalong Pier - 10 km.

Coral Island can rightfully be called a real tropical paradise.

The sand on the island is perfectly white, the sea next to the island is clean, calm and moderately shallow, the lush vegetation covering the island is pleasing to the eye, and just a few meters from the island there are coral reefs, around which countless schools of brightly colored tropical fish circle.

As you might guess, Coral Island is a good place for snorkeling, and it is worth especially noting that, unlike the island of Phuket itself, with its clearly unimpressive snorkeling, snorkeling off the coast of Coral Island is already at the highest good by any standards.

In addition to snorkeling, Coral Island is also great for a lazy beach holiday. And if you suddenly get tired of lying on the snow-white and surprisingly clean sand, you can rent a jet ski on the island, or explore its surroundings by riding a parachute attached to a high-speed motor boat.

It must be said that, unlike the island of Phuket, which is overloaded with hotels and other buildings beyond all measure, the island of Coral Island is almost not affected by development. There is only one small hotel on the island, and other buildings include only a few bars and a tiny beach restaurant. As a result, the nature on the island of Coral Island has been preserved in such excellent condition that the island is still inhabited by hornbills, large exotic birds that do not like the proximity of people, and have not been seen on the island of Phuket for a long time.

P.S. In English, the name of Coral Island is written as Coral Island. In Thai - as Koh Hae, less often - as Koh He, Koh Hay or Koh Hey. Such a variety of transliterations that arise when trying to write Thai words in Latin script is quite common for local place names.

How to get to Coral Island. Excursions and independent trips.

Below are two maps of the island of Phuket, which indicate the location, including the island of Coral Island.

There are at least 3 ways to get to Coral Island.

Firstly, you can buy a tour. Such excursions are sold everywhere on the island of Phuket and cost about 1,000 baht per person. This money, in addition to the trip to the island itself, also includes lunch and transfer from the hotel to the pier and back. Secondly, you can hire a local wooden boat (longtail boat). This can be done at Chalong Pier, the typical cost is 1,500 baht for the whole boat. In this case, you will have to get to Chalong Pier on your own, and, on your own, take care of your food on Coral Island.

And finally, thirdly, you can hire a speedboat*. You can also do this at Chalong Pier; prices for this pleasure vary widely, and usually boat owners ask for an amount in the range of 6,000 - 9,000 baht. If you decide to take a boat at Chalong Pier, pay attention to how many of these boats are sitting there idle. You need to bargain with their owners until you are blue in the face, and it is quite possible, and even necessary, to extract from them a discount of several tens of percent.

* Even in its most modest version, a high-speed boat (speedboat) is a fairly large vessel, designed for at least 10 people. So, if you are vacationing with a large group, a trip on a speedboat can be not only exciting, but also relatively cheap entertainment.

Beaches and hotels of Coral Island. Coral Island Resort Hotel.

Coral Island has two quality beaches, Long Beach, 800 meters long, and Banana Beach, 200 meters long.

Both beaches are located on the northern side of Coral Island, and are protected by hills from the southwesterly winds that prevail in the Phuket area. It is thanks to this location that the sea opposite these beaches is always calm and there is not even a slight wave.

Of the two beaches on Coral Island, Long Beach is noticeably more popular among both local and foreign vacationers. This beach is where almost all excursions arriving on Coral Island land, this beach offers jet ski rentals and parasailing, and the island's only hotel is located on this beach. The second beach, Banana Beach, is less frequented by tourists, and if you hire a boat yourself, you will have the choice of staying at the quieter and calmer Banana Beach, or landing at the noisier and busier nearby beach. However, even if you land on Long Beach, there is nothing stopping you from walking across the hill that separates the two beaches, comparing the merits of both beaches, and settling on the one you like best.

As mentioned above, there is only one hotel on Coral Island, the Coral Island Resort, and it is located on the eastern edge of Long Beach. This hotel offers its guests accommodation in classic Thai cottages, uncharacteristic for Phuket, but very popular on the rest of the Thai islands, including the islands, the island and the more southern islands, up to the island. Accommodation at the Coral Island Resort hotel costs from 2,700 baht per day, and even given the high prices of Phuket, this is not cheap. However, the beautiful Thai islands, which include Coral Island, are not cheap, and nothing can be done about it.

Therefore, many travel companies offer various kinds of excursions to Coral Island. They can be one-day or two-day.

Excursion to Coral Island from Phuket - How to get there

The coral island is located at a distance of 9 km, so getting to it is not difficult. When buying an excursion, you also pay for transfer, so you don't have to think about how to get to this place. You will be picked up from your hotel around 9 a.m. and taken to Chalong Pier. At 9.30 the boat leaves for Coral Island, which can be reached in 15-20 minutes.

What to take with you: You should bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and towels. You should also take a camera or video camera, because you can take beautiful photos and videos there. It would be a good idea to buy a map, since the place is still unfamiliar. If you want to visit Banana Beach, you should take comfortable shoes, since the road to it lies through the jungle.

Characteristics of Coral Island

First of all, you should know that the name of the island fully justifies itself, since a coral reef is located a few meters from the shore. Many colorful fish live around it: needle fish, parrot fish, swallow fish, trumpet fish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, moray eels, sea turtles. The fish are not shy: they are accustomed to tourists often throwing food away, so you can feed them bread or a bun.

The island has two clean and tidy beaches with fine sand: Long Beach And Banana Beach. Sun loungers are available for rent on the beach. If you buy an excursion, they will be given to you for free. Excursion transport usually arrives at the first beach, but you have to get to the second one on your own. It won't take much time - about 15 minutes, but the road to it is laid through the bushes.

In the eastern part of Long Beach there is a massage parlor where I offer a wide variety of massages: from foot massage to the well-known massage. Experienced massage therapists and masseuses, whom you choose yourself, will help you relax.

Coral Island is an excellent place for an excursion with children, since it does not take the whole day and you do not need to be constantly on the move. The child will not get tired and will remain happy. After arriving on the island, you manage your time and choose your own activities.

There is a good one on the island Coral Island Resort with a high level of comfort and friendly staff. There is also a swimming pool where you can take some lessons. In the meantime, initiation into travelers continued. The rainy season is already approaching, and the beaches of Phuket are becoming less attractive and clean every day. And we really wanted to show Masha what a beach holiday can really be like in Thailand. Without thinking twice, we bought an excursion to Coral Island, which is located near Phuket. I didn’t want an exhausting and long trip, like to, which, by the way, is no longer safe to visit at the end of April. Coral Island ticked all the boxes!

Coral Island

Excursion to Coral Island

At 6:50 in the morning, a minibus had already been picked up for me in Phuket Town, and I, along with the driver, went to collect all the tourists. We stopped at Kamala, then to Patong, where I picked up Masha, and soon we were taken to. It is not clear for what reasons they took me first, because they could have taken me last, since the minibus after Patong proceeded to the Chalong area again past our condo... I could have slept half an hour more. Anyway. The main thing is that we arrived

A crowd of dozens of Chinese and a few Europeans were waiting in line to board the speedboat. Masha and I walked around the pier and bought water at a stall. Tip: be sure to take water with you to Coral Island from home. On the pier it costs 20 baht, and on the island a small bottle will cost you 50 baht.

Our group loaded into the speedboat and after 10 minutes, exactly how long it seemed to me to swim to the coral island, we went down to the beach.

Speedboats are assigned a specific place and do not interfere with swimming at all

Coral Island - first impressions

How good! There are almost no people on the beach. A couple of people are swimming, and they are very far away. A lot of space. White and clean sand. The sea is transparent. Not as blue as on the island of Racha and certainly not as turquoise as on the Similan Islands, but still very clean water.

As if the coral island had not heard about the fact that it is no longer the season in this region

Don't flatter yourself! And on small islands it is possible that garbage may appear

Masha did not regret that we sailed here and said that it was a complete thrill. Today we have a full day of rest. No traveling, visiting temples or parks. Just lying around and doing nothing on the beach on the paradise island of Coral.

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

The Chinese are separate, the people are separate

Do you know what struck me on this island? I don’t know how this happened, but our guide told us that he recommends swimming on the right side of the beach. And the left side is reserved for the Chinese. Are Chinese tourists really behaving so badly that they are being shut out? It’s not hard to believe; we ourselves have witnessed the intolerable upbringing of Chinese tourists. But, still, they are people too, I even somehow felt sorry for them.

Funny picture. All nationalities swim in one part of the island, and only the Chinese in the other. There is a rope stretched in the middle of the beach, like a discreet but visible divider between “people and Chinese.” The Chinese are not even brought to eat in establishments where they serve a buffet for other tourists. They also eat separately, in the same place where they bathe.

This is how the Thais care about the holidays of those who come to Coral Island. As a result, you don’t intersect with Chinese tourists anywhere at all. I wonder if they themselves are not ashamed?

What to see on the Coral Island excursion

Nothing, just one beautiful beach. Bask in the sun, sleep, swim and snorkel. Masha had her own, so we did not take public masks and snorkels on the boat. Masha swam far from the shore, but saw only sea urchins, a couple of gray unidentified fish and yellow minke whales. Unlike Racha Island, there are no other beaches on Coral. There is no observation deck either. To all my requests to tell me what can be seen here besides the beach, the Thais shrugged their shoulders.

Lunch on schedule

After 3 hours of this kind of seal rest, we went for lunch. Lunch is served at the only hotel on the island Coral Island Resort.

The buffet was delicious. Rice, noodles, chicken, fish. For some reason there was no coffee or tea. I had to drink water.

From the restaurant we had a view of the beach

What to do on Coral Island in your free time

We were somehow tired of sunbathing and swimming, and we went to the hotel territory. It is not closely guarded and therefore anyone from the street from the beach can get there.

We took advantage of this and spent half an hour in the blue pool.

Later it turned out that there were Korean divers in scuba gear sitting under the water the entire time we were swimming. We were scared, and then we laughed wildly until we cried, because from afar we mistook them for a gurgling jacuzzi.

Then we walked past the houses. The bungalow, by the way, is in excellent condition. Perhaps they were recently renovated or they are simply constantly being looked after and not started. So, it would be great to spend one or two days on a secluded paradise island in the mornings and evenings, surrounded by greenery, flowers and access to the sea!

The view from the houses is something like this

To book a hotel Coral Island Resort can be found here >>

Let's go to the Chinese

There were still two and a half hours left before sailing to Phuket, and Masha and I went to explore. See how the Chinese spend their time. Chinese tourists, as always, sit in the water right near the shore, but in vests. We don’t understand what kind of panic they have about drowning a meter from the shore. And why are they always wearing vests? Doesn't anyone really know how to swim? Or are hotel guides intimidating them too? While discussing Chinese tourists with Masha, we passed by a lady in her early 40s, who at that moment loudly filled her mouth with saliva and spat relishfully on the sand, like a drunken man.

The question immediately disappeared: why are the Chinese separated from everyone else?

The left Chinese part of the beach of Coral Island

We also didn’t find anything interesting on the Chinese part. The sand here is a bit dirty, especially at the end of the beach; they don’t even clean up the trash there.

We came back, sat down on the chairs and both fell asleep. We woke up just before leaving. We still waited for our group for 45 minutes and finally sailed to Phuket.
