Travel company family suitcase. Dominican Republic resorts: where is the best place to go? Description, prices, reviews Which is better punto cana or boca chica

The Boca Chica resort in the Dominican Republic has gained popularity among Russian tourists only in recent years. Due to the crisis in Russia and the associated increase in prices for trips to the Dominican Republic, tour operators were forced to look for options that could be offered to tourists with a small budget. Inexpensive hotels in Boca Chica turned out to be the right option. Today, tourists who cannot afford big expenses go on vacation to the Boca Chica resort area in the Dominican Republic. However, Boca Chica attracts tourists not only with its cheap hotels, and you will learn about all the advantages of the resort from this article.

What a sea in Boca Chica

As you know, the Dominican Republic is washed from the north by the Atlantic Ocean, and from the south by the Caribbean Sea. Tourists often ask what kind of sea or ocean is in Boca Chica. Since this resort is located in the south of the Dominican Republic, it is washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. Is it good or bad? It seems to us that, from a psychological point of view, most tourists would like to relax on the ocean shore, and not on the seashore. However, the Caribbean Sea in the Dominican Republic has two advantages. Firstly, it is warmer than the Atlantic Ocean (not by much, but warmer), and, secondly, the waters of the Caribbean Sea are calmer than the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Boca Chica on the map of the Dominican Republic

Where is Boca Chica? It’s not difficult to find the Boca Chica resort on a map of the Dominican Republic, but, of course, you won’t find it on a world map. Situated about 30 km east of Santo Domingo, the resort is a very popular destination among locals who come here in large numbers for the weekend. Foreign tourists also often visit this resort, as there are several good hotels here.

You're probably wondering how long it takes to get from Punta Cana Airport to Boca Chica? The distance between Punta Cana Airport and Boca Chica resort is approximately 155 km, and you can cover this distance in about 2 hours. Usually, this much time is spent on a transfer from Punta Cana to Boca Chica, unless check-ins at La Romana hotels are provided.

Distance from Boca Chica to:

Punta Cana – 155 km

La Romana – 75 km

Juan Dolio – 25 km

Santo Domingo – 30 km

Boca Chica Bay is protected from strong waves by a coral reef, so the water here is always calm. For this reason, it received the nickname "The Largest Bathtub in the World." This is a very safe place for children, and this is not only due to the absence of high waves, but also to the gentle entrance to the sea.

The city of Boca Chica will appeal to people who like noise, especially at night. The city center has a variety of restaurants, bars and nightclubs, concentrated around the main street, Calle Duarte, which attracts many locals and tourists.

History of Boca Chica

Today, Boca Chica for locals is a city beach near Santo Domingo, where they relax on weekends, but previously Boca Chica had a completely different status. Until the 40s, Boca Chica was a small fishing village, but everything changed when the dictator Trujillo built his dacha here in the 40s. In the 50s and 60s, many wealthy families also built their summer houses in this place, and in the 70s, Boca Chica finally transformed from a small fishing village into a resort town, the popularity of which became so high that a bus service was created between Santo Domingo and this city.

At the beginning of this century, Boca Chica attracted few foreign tourists, and the reason for this was the high crime rate. However, in recent years the situation has changed greatly; police officers began to be constantly on duty in the city. Today, many tourists, without any fear, come in the evening to the central street of Caye Duarte, where they relax in restaurants, bars and clubs along with local residents.

The main beach of Boca Chica turns into one big open-air party on weekends with dancing to the sounds of Caribbean music. There are beach bars and restaurants on the beach, and hard-nosed vendors sell everything from fruit and drinks to cigars and jewelry. These merchants can be annoying at times, but saying “no dinero” (“no money”) is a quick way to get rid of them.

Weather in Boca Chica

The famous resort in the south of the Dominican Republic offers good weather throughout the year. However, it should be remembered that the Dominican Republic is located in the hurricane belt, so storms and even hurricanes are possible in Boca Chica from June to October. In most cases, strong hurricanes that pass through the Caribbean islands bypass the Dominican Republic, but cyclones come to this country every now and then, bringing with them heavy rainfall. However, if you decide to go on vacation to the Dominican Republic for 10 nights or more, you can be sure that the weather will be good for most of your vacation.

Below are the average figures that characterize the weather in the Dominican Republic by month:

In January - daytime 28.4 °C, precipitation 47 mm

In February - daytime 28.5 °C, precipitation 52 mm

In March - daytime 28.9 °C, precipitation 32 mm

In April - daytime 29.6 °C, precipitation 63 mm

In May - 29.9 °C, precipitation 77 mm

In August - 30.7 °C, precipitation 189 mm

In September - 31.1 °C, precipitation 93 mm

In October - 30.6 °C, precipitation 84 mm

In November - 29.5 °C, precipitation 73 mm

In December - 28.7 °C, precipitation 52 mm

Attractions of Boca Chica

It is not surprising that a city with a short history has almost no attractions. However, not far from the famous resort there are several very beautiful places that are especially recommended for lovers of nature and a relaxing holiday. Tourists can always quickly travel from Boca Chica to the city of Santo Domingo, which is literally strewn with attractions. Below is a short summary of the main attractions in the Boca Chica area.

La Matica is a small island off the coast of the Dominican Republic where you can watch a variety of birds. From here you can take a catamaran trip to the small island of Los Pinos, which has nothing but bushes and trees.

The idyllic fishing village of Guayacanes offers you the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the "real" Dominican Republic and relax on a fabulous beach. This place is located just a few kilometers from Juan Dolio, another famous resort area.

San Pedro de Macoris - Located about 30 kilometers from Boca Chica, the bustling town is famous for its large sugar factory with tall chimneys.

If you want to expand your knowledge of other places and cultures, you can visit the museums in Boca Chica. There are two small museums in this city, but tourists are mainly interested in the Museo De Lary Mar, which is located almost in the very center of the city.

La Caleta Underwater Park is a popular nature reserve located about 10 km southwest of the center of Boca Chica. Two ships were scuttled here, and the purpose of the sinking was to promote the spread of marine life.

Boca Chica Beach

Boca Chica Beach is divided into three parts. To the west is Playa Andres Beach. This is followed by the widest part of Boca Chica Beach, where you can find many restaurants and bars. The narrower part of the beach begins behind the pier. Here you will also find several cafes and shops.

Between the resort of Boca Chica and the village of Guayacanes there is a small bay with Playa Caribe beach, which has deep waters and often strong waves.
Boca Chica Beach is definitely one of the best beaches on the south coast of the Dominican Republic. The coral reef near the shore forms a natural breakwater that protects it from the high waves of the Caribbean Sea. This makes Boca Chica Beach a popular spot for families whose children can swim safely in the shallow water. Fans of active recreation will not be bored on this beach, as there is the opportunity to rent kayaks, catamarans and jet skis. There are even several diving schools in Boca Chica.

The color of the sand on Boca Chica Beach varies from light yellow to white. The beach itself is generally quite flat and good for jogging. Its width ranges from 40 to 100 meters. On any day of the week except Sunday you can always find a place to play here, but on Sundays it is so crowded that it is difficult to find a free place at all. It is clear that you will not see such crowds of people in the beach areas of hotels.

Boca Chica Beach is truly unique. It is located in a bay 1.5 km long and approximately 400 meters wide (at this distance there is a coral reef in the form of a huge semicircle). In fact, Boca Chica Bay is a huge pool of sea water, the depth of which is only 90-120 cm. The water in the bay is crystal clear thanks to continuous natural filtration and constant recharge from a series of natural underwater springs.

Shops in Boca Chica

While vacationing in Boca Chica, do not forget that you are in the tourist center of the Dominican Republic. This means that prices in stores here will be quite high. So, for example, for a hat that you can buy in Santo Domingo for $5, in Boca Chica they may ask you for $15! Brugal Añejo rum costs about $10 in Boca Chica, although it can be purchased for as little as $3 in stores in non-tourist areas.

Shops in Boca Chica can be found everywhere, even in hotels. However, the main shopping area is Calle Duerte. On the beach you can also see stalls with souvenirs and products, and, of course, merchants who will persistently try to sell you a variety of goods.

If the shops in Boca Chica seem too modest and uninteresting to you, then you can go to the nearby city of Santo Domingo, which has several large shopping centers and a wide variety of shops.

What to bring from Boca Chica

You won’t find any unique goods in Boca Chica, since everything that tourists usually buy in other places in the Dominican Republic is sold here. In Boca Chica you can buy handcrafted souvenirs, paintings, as well as typical souvenirs such as Brugal rum, mamajuana (a drink made from rum, honey and herbs), coffee, cigars, cocoa balls, snail slime cream, larimar products... .

Holidays in Boca Chica

If you decide to go on vacation to Boca Chica, you should have a good idea of how you see this vacation. Boca Chica is a rather specific resort with its own advantages and disadvantages. You need to understand that there are no luxury hotels in this resort area, just as there are no large hotels with a wide variety of entertainment. However, entertainment is not hard to find here, especially if you enjoy snorkeling, diving and fishing. Boca Chica offers excellent snorkeling and diving, and local companies can organize offshore fishing trips.

Holidays in Boca Chica are mainly associated with spending time on the territory of the hotel and the adjacent beach, water activities, walks around the city and trips on excursions. But as a base for excursions, Boca Chica is not the best place, unless you want to explore the entire city of Santo Domingo and go to the mountainous part of the Dominican Republic.

Holiday season in Boca Chica

There is no clearly defined high season in Boca Chica, since the hotels here are filled with vacationers all year round. Note that in the period from December to March, when it can be cool in the Punta Cana area, the weather in Boca Chica is quite good. In addition, the water temperature in the Caribbean Sea in the south of the Dominican Republic at this time of year is on average 2-3 degrees higher than in Punta Cana. Do not forget that Boca Chica Bay is quite shallow, which means that the water in it is still several degrees warmer than in the rest of the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic.

Between April and November, Boca Chica often experiences heavy rainfall. The air temperature and humidity level increase noticeably at this time. However, the weather in Boca Chica between April and November is generally quite suitable for a beach holiday.

Snorkeling in Boca Chica

If you think that Boca Chica is a resort only for tourists who want to save money on vacation, then you are wrong. Snorkeling enthusiasts who want to admire the beauty of the underwater world every day sometimes prefer this resort, because the coral reef in Boca Chica is located quite close to the shore, and you can get to it on your own. This significantly distinguishes Boca Chica from Punta Cana, where the coral reef is located 600-1000 meters from the shore and can only be reached by boat.

Although the underwater world in the Boca Chica area is unlikely to amaze avid divers and snorkelers with its biodiversity, the proximity of the coral reef to the main resort hotels makes Boca Chica an ideal destination for those tourists for whom snorkeling is their main attraction.

Boca Chica is rightfully considered one of the best resorts in the Dominican Republic for snorkeling lovers, since, in addition to the beautiful reef, this resort also offers relatively calm and always warm waters. If you forget to bring a mask and snorkel, you can rent them right on the beach for just a few dollars.

Note that Boca Chica also offers trips to snorkeling spots that can only be reached by boat. A group tour to these sites costs approximately $40 per person and includes equipment rental and free drinks. Some of the best snorkeling spots in the Boca Chica area include La Caleta Underwater Park and several famous shipwrecks.

Nightlife in Boca Chica

Many people like to enjoy the beach in the evening, but the only part of Boca Chica Beach where you can have a good evening is the strip east of the Don Juan Resort. People walk here until midnight, merengue music can be heard.

The center of nightlife in Boca Chica is The Disco club at the Be Live Hamaca Beach Hotel on Calle Duarte. This nightclub attracts a lot of people almost every evening. The music is very diverse, so you can hear merengue, salsa and pop music here. The hotel's all-inclusive guests have free access to the nightclub, but all other guests have an entrance fee of 700 pesos.

The Be Live Hamaca Beach Hotel is also home to the largest casino in Boca Chica, which is open daily from 5pm to 4am. Entrance to the casino is free, and gambling games here include poker, blackjack, roulette, etc.

Excursions from Boca Chica

If you want to go on excursions while on vacation in the Dominican Republic, you should think carefully about whether you should choose a hotel in Boca Chica. The fact is that only a few well-known travel agencies offer excursions from Boca Chica, and the cost of excursions is usually much higher than the cost of similar excursions from Punta Cana. This is explained by the fact that tourists from Boca Chica need to organize a transfer, the cost of which is quite high. Therefore, you can either pay extra for the transfer or book an individual excursion with a personal guide. In any case, the cost of excursions from Boca Chica in general will be quite high. This does not apply only to excursions to Santo Domingo and “local” excursions, that is, snorkeling trips, catamaran rides, etc.

Some tourists find a way out and buy excursions in Boca Chica from local travel agencies, such as Pedro Tour, but the range of excursions in these companies is very meager, and prices are still high.

Which is better: Boca Chica or Juan Dolio

Boca Chica and Juan Dolio are two small resorts located on the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic, near Santo Domingo. These resorts attract tourists with low prices for hotel accommodation, so some travelers prefer one of them. Which is better: Boca Chica or Juan Dolio?

In truth, these resorts are very similar to each other, but Boca Chica is a noisier, more fun place. So this resort is more preferable for young people. It seems to us that Boca Chica is also a preferred place for families with children, because the lagoon in this area has warmer and calmer waters than in the Juan Dolio area.

Boca Chica or Puerto Plata

The resorts of Boca Chica and Puerto Plata differ markedly from each other, so it is easy to choose the one that is most suitable for you. Firstly, it is worth noting that direct flights are offered to Puerto Plata from the tour operator Pegas Touristik (at least as of March 2017), while Boca Chica will need to be reached a few more hours by bus or car after long flight to Punta Cana. In addition, you may have to pay extra for transfers to Boca Chica.

Hotels in Puerto Plata are generally better as there are several large 5 star hotels. Puerto Plata is great for surfers and those who love to jump on the waves, while Boca Chica is better suited for snorkelers and those who like to swim in calm waters.

Boca Chica: photos

Boca Chica located 30 km from Santo Domingo and 5 minutes from the international airport. Boca Chica is a tourist paradise with magnificent sandy beaches, some of the best in the Dominican Republic, and the gentle waves of the warm Caribbean Sea.

Main attraction Boca Chica- This is a beach with sand fine as flour and a lagoon protected by a coral reef, the depth of which does not exceed one and a half meters. Despite the shallow waters, windsurfing and water skiing, scuba diving and even sailing are actively practiced here. On the shore you can play tennis or indulge in horseback riding in the picturesque surroundings.

During the reign of dictator Trujilo, the wealthy class built country houses in this tranquil port town. By the 1960s, several beach hotels had opened here for the international cream of the crop. But with the development of the resorts of Playa Dorada and Sosua on the north coast in the 1970s, Boca Chica lost much of its tourist appeal. The bustling resort with soft, shallow bays has once again become a quiet and tranquil port town. This went on for 20 years, until in the early 1990s the interest of hoteliers in this place flared up again. And this interest is still maintained.

Now Boca Chica is the busiest beach on the southeast coast. Here life happens to the rhythm of “merengue”, the melody of which can be heard from numerous restaurants located on the seashore. The coast is famous for its magnificent beaches and sugar cane fields against the backdrop of the emerald sea. Boca Chica- a resort with three- and four-star hotels, most of which are located directly on the Caribbean coast.

From Boca Chiqui you can go on excursion routes to the islands of Saona and Catalina, visit the famous “baseball” city of San Pedro de Macoris, Santo Domingo, meet the vibrant underwater life at Bin Bum Beach on the coast of Bavaro, go on a “jeep safari”, or go rafting.

Although the lagoon is shallow, windsurfing, water skiing, diving, and sailing are practiced here. There is an opportunity to practice tennis and horse riding. The local water club organizes international fishing competitions every April.

Beaches of Boca Chica:
La Matica. The island is famous for its mangrove tree, which grows almost in the very center - the tree has the name La Matica. It was in honor of this tree that the island got its name. On the island you can meet herons or “garzas” who have chosen this place. Getting to the island is quite simple; all you need to do is walk across a shallow lagoon with a soft sandy bottom.

Los Pinos- this is the second island located opposite the beach Boca Chica, a little west of the islet La Matica. Translated, the name of the island means “island of pine trees.” Previously, the island was inhabited and even housed several businesses, but after Hurricane Georges, the island was abandoned. The hurricane destroyed the entire infrastructure of the island, making it inaccessible to all types of ships. Trees and bushes were also damaged, being uprooted by the force of the hurricane. Exploring this small island will require sturdy boots and mosquito repellent.

Playa Andres- Not far from this beach is an old but still active sugar cane factory, which serves as the main employment site for the small settlement of Andres, often called "Andres de Boca Chica". Also, not far from the beach there is a marina, which serves as a berth for large yachts, and next to the marina there is a customs office that serves ships arriving at the port of Andres. The beach itself, which bears the proud name of Playa Andres, is located between the marina and the main Boca Chica Beach. The beach is equipped with beach umbrellas with wooden lounge chairs and is surrounded by palm trees. The capacity and length of the beach is quite impressive, so it is rarely crowded.

Beach area of the city beach Boca Chica closely borders with various buildings that are located here in violation of all written local laws. These laws prohibit the placement of commercial buildings on the territory of a public beach at a distance of less than 60 meters from the sea. A striking example is the Hamaca Beach Resort, which blocked the beach with a wall and its own pier. Access to this area is guarded by security guards who allow only registered hotel guests with wristbands through. In the very center of the beach is the Don Juan Beach Resort, on the territory of which there is a Treasure Divers diving center, and there is also a pier. Various types of water sports are concentrated near the pier. This is probably the best stretch of "public beach" Boca Chica.

Boca Chica, Dominican Republic is a resort town located on the Caribbean coast. When getting ready to go to the Dominican Republic, we struggled for a long time with what to choose - the Atlantic with its much-hyped Punta Cana or the Caribbean, with its supposedly crappy coastal part. The choice nevertheless fell on the Caribbean Sea and the town of Boca Chica - it should be quiet there (without noisy discos and other things), lack of waves and the water is warmer, certainly warmer than on the Atlantic coast.

Well, as for the widespread dirt, crime and other horror stories promised by the Internet, it was decided that we will deal with this on the spot.

Boca Chica on the map of the Dominican Republic

So, having made a short 12-hour flight and bravely endured all its delights, we landed in Punta Cana. The international airport pleased with its exoticism - a small building under a thatched roof with natural (in the full sense of the word) ventilation.

The journey to Boca Chica takes 2-2.5 hours. Time flies quickly while admiring the road scenery.
And here we are at the Don Juan Beach Resort.

Boca Chica, Dominican Republic - reviews and general impressions

We arrived around ten in the morning. And check-in to the rooms is only at 15.00. Therefore, after changing clothes and leaving things in the storage room, the first thing we did was go to the dining room, and then, of course, to the beach. After breakfast, we looked around. No dirt has been found yet. On the contrary, the hotel area is clean, the food is delicious, and it seems like you can live there.

We will definitely tell you more about the hotel in a separate article.

In a nutshell about the beaches of Boca Chica in the vicinity of our hotel

The main beach of the Don Juan hotel looked like this.
In our opinion it is too “built up”. And therefore, for swimming, we decided to go to the left of it, to see how things were there. About two hundred meters later we came across another beach of the same hotel and an open space in front of it.

This is where we settled.
For our taste, this is the best place among the beaches of Boca Chica. The sand is white, clean, the water is clear, of some unreal color, all kinds of palm trees on the shore.

What was pleasing was that the coastline was not filled with sun loungers and umbrellas.
Due to the presence of a breakwater, there are no strong waves. The depth increases very smoothly, and the water is suitable for relatively long swimming (the temperature, according to personal feelings, is 24 - 26 degrees). Not 30 - 35, of course, as in the Indian Ocean, but not 20 either...

There was no dominance of algae in the water. On the shore too. And this applies to the entire coast.

About the cleanliness of the beaches

Almost every morning I went for a run. I never saw the promised piles of garbage on the shore, even after the weekend.
I only saw how the workers of numerous cafes carefully swept their territory. We give the beaches a solid four, not a five, only in view of the fact that we personally love less civilized places.

About the crowds of local people on the beaches

The second horror story associated with the beaches of Boca Chica is the invasion of locals on the weekends. Well, this is actually some kind of nonsense. On Saturday they began to expect this invasion in the morning. But for some reason in the morning there were even fewer people than usual.
By lunchtime, in the area of our beach, nothing much had changed either.
But we wanted something exotic. We walked along the coast, towards the Belle Vue hotel. In those parts, especially on the city beach, life turned out to be more vibrant. But we didn’t notice that there was nowhere for the apple to fall. Maybe there are more people in the cafe.

As evening approached, there were more people on our beach.
Although this happened every evening. We deliberately stayed there longer to watch the locals - to at least immerse ourselves a little in their environment... Otherwise, in the hotel you won’t even feel the Dominican Republic...
But for people to be like sardines in a jar, and for them to eat right in the water and litter there (as has been repeatedly written on the Internet) - we have never seen this before. Some people come in with cigars, yes. But bulls and the like don’t swim in water. And at eight o’clock in the evening on weekends there is generally silence and solitude on the beach - just like on any other day.

About crime and safety

The next myth is that due to the criminal situation, it is not recommended to leave the hotel - they will immediately take away your bag, take away all your gold, etc. According to our feelings, the situation is quite normal, just like in Asia.
And just like everywhere else, you shouldn’t walk around covered in gold, waving an expensive phone on a selfie stick, demonstrating to others your superiority over everyone and everything through a tightly stuffed wallet. We even asked our compatriots who have been living and working in Boca Chica for many years about crime. They only confirmed the above. If you are not looking for adventure in one place, nothing will happen. But if you leave a city bar late at night, thoroughly drunk, and even in the company of night butterflies, anything can happen.
In general, according to our feelings, Dominicans are more friendly than aggressive. And he's not averse to meeting white girls.

About the beauty of landscapes

Well, in conclusion, let’s dispel one more statement - Boca Chica is not beautiful. Well, what can we say, Boca Chica is a small town and popular as a resort, therefore, there cannot be many kilometers of deserted Bounty beaches here.
Fortunately, there is no continuous hotel development. But there is plenty of natural beauty there, you just need to be able to see it under the “benefits of civilization.”
As for the sea, it will be even better than off the coast of the famous island of Saona, I checked it personally.
The color of the lagoon in Chika is simply amazing!

This concludes our first review of the Dominican Republic and Boca Chica.

Boca Chica is a city in the Dominican Republic, located on the Caribbean coast near the capital, Santo Domingo.
Boca Chica is a very poor region, perhaps one of the poorest in the country. Imagine that you spent 13 hours on a plane, about 4 hours at the airport, about an hour in a taxi to the airport to fly, as you think, to heaven on earth. Introduced? And now I will plunge you into harsh reality. Upon arrival at the hotel, it was discovered that there was no hot or cold water, as well as electricity. And this is not a problem for a specific hotel, but for the entire city. Perhaps this is a familiar picture for people who are used to traveling around the countries of Asia and Latin America, but I was extremely shocked.

Later they explained to us that Boca Chica is a very poor city, and such problems for local residents are not problems at all: interruptions in water and electricity are par for the course here. But don’t be afraid, all of the above will seem like a trifle at the moment when the shores of the Caribbean Sea open before your eyes.

How to get there

The only way to get to Boca Chica from Russia is by plane.

By plane

So, by air travel to ( Las Americas airport) or ( Punta Cana airport) you will reach the Dominican Republic.

Boca Chica is located 12 km from the capital's Las Americas Airport and approximately 160 km from Punta Cana Airport.

Now a little more about each of the two routes from Russia.

Flight to Punta Cana

The most inexpensive way to travel is still purchasing a ticket. You can search for options from different tour operators, for example. This option is convenient because you don’t have to think about a transfer from the airport, but you should keep in mind that you will fly to Punta Cana airport, and the journey to your destination by tour operator’s bus will take 3-4 hours. I wrote about how to get to Punta Cana on your own and which airlines to choose in the corresponding section of the review article about.

From Punta Cana Airport to Boca Chica
  1. Private transfer from Punta Cana airport to Boca Chica will cost around 150 USD. You can order a taxi at the counter when leaving the airport.
  2. Car rent at the current dollar exchange rate it will cost from 30 USD per day; you can get acquainted with the prices and options of the cars provided in advance, for example,.
  3. By public transport from Punta Cana airport to Boca Chica impossible.

Flight to Santo Domingo

There is no direct flight here from Russia. At best, you will be able to find a flight with one transfer.

How to get there from Moscow:

  1. Aeroflot + Airfarce- the fastest way. The flight will take a total of 14 hours 50 minutes there and 14 hours 5 minutes back, including a 1.5 hour connection in Paris. The downside of this method is the price; tickets for two cost from 3,940 USD (235,000 RUB).
If you think that this is the most expensive method, I hasten to disappoint you.
  2. Aeroflot + American Airlines. Flight time there is 17 hours 50 minutes, back - 15 hours 30 minutes. The transfer lasting just over 2 hours in both cases takes place in a beautiful city. The cost of tickets during certain periods reaches 6,695 USD (399,000 RUB) for two, this is the most expensive flight to the Dominican Republic that I have ever seen. Suitable for lovers of comfort and those who do not need to save on travel.
  3. KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) + Copa airlines + Air France- the most profitable route for tourists, tickets for two can be found for 2,180 USD (130,000 RUВ) for two, but you will have to endure some inconveniences. The duration of the flight there will be a total of one day. The return journey will take 15 hours. Connections on the way there - and on the way back -.

Flights for all 3 options I described are carried out from Sheremetyevo International Airport. You can compare ticket prices from different sellers.

How to get there from St. Petersburg:

The best option in terms of price and quality ratio would be a flight Aeroflot together with a low-cost airline Jet Blue. Connections are made in Moscow and New York, the approximate cost of a flight for two is from 109,000 RUВ in summer and from 130,000 RUВ in winter. The total duration of the flight is 24 hours 14 minutes towards the Dominican Republic and 23 hours 40 minutes towards St. Petersburg.

Departures from St. Petersburg operate from Pulkovo International Airport (LED).

Flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg depart daily.

From Santo Domingo Airport to Boca Chica

If you are a fan of independent travel, then the minimum cost of a trip for two for 10 days will be approximately 2,460 USD (150,000 RUВ), excluding the cost of entertainment and excursions. I wrote about the cost of the flight above.

Housing

Accommodation in Boca Chica can be found quite inexpensively, for example, the price for a room starts from 25 USD (1,500 RUB) per day, a room in an apartment will cost a little more, prices from 40 USD (2,500 RUB) per day. You can find a room or apartment for the desired dates, for example,. Self-booking a hotel with an all-inclusive system will cost from 135 USD (8,200 RUВ) per day. I recommend it for hotel booking. You can compare housing prices from different sites, for example.

When choosing an independent trip, I advise you to pay attention to accommodation with a kitchen. This will allow you to purchase products from the supermarket and prepare them yourself, which will significantly reduce costs from your budget.

other expenses

The cost of excursions starts from 40 USD (2,500 RUB) per person, dinner in a restaurant with a beautiful sea view will cost from 150 USD, a taxi ride - from 25 USD (1,500 RUB).

Generally

Of course, everyone’s vacation needs are different, but if you don’t plan to spend your entire vacation lying on the beach, but want to immerse yourself in the culture of the country, in my opinion, including the cost of air travel and accommodation, you will need 3,280–4,100 USD (200,000–250,000 RUB ).

Main attractions. What to see

Boca Chica is not rich in its attractions. You won't find any functioning museums here. And, perhaps, you can’t even make a “Top 5” list of attractions.

The main attraction of Boca Chica is rightfully its beaches; they stretch here for several kilometers.

White sand, blue water, palm trees - what could be more ideal?

Beaches. Which ones are better

Conventionally, all the beaches of the resort can be divided into those located in the city and beaches on the islands. Next I will tell you about all of them in more detail.

City beaches of Boca Chica

They include two beaches, marked on the map with rectangles.

Beaches on the islands

Churches and temples. Which ones are worth visiting?

Since most Dominicans adhere to the Catholic faith, you will find a corresponding church in Boca Chica.

Temple of the Holy Archangel Raphael (Iglesia San Rafael Arcangel)

This is actually the only temple in the city.

The church, as seen in the photo, is a small white building with a red roof.

From the outside, the building looks quite nice, but when you get inside, you are surprised at how tiny this building is, and you think that renovation of the interior will not harm the interior at all.

It's worth coming here to experience the local atmosphere. Here you can meet pleasant city residents who come to pray for a better future for themselves and their children.

I think that regardless of your faith, this place will leave you interested and make you think about a lot.

Finding the church is very easy; it is located on St. Raphael Street not far from the main street of the Duarte resort.

Visiting and opening hours: Visiting the church is absolutely free for everyone. Here you don’t have to worry about your appearance (within reason). Of course, you won’t be able to enter here in a swimsuit, but many tourists calmly move around the church in fairly short shorts and a T-shirt. In my opinion, out of respect for religion, you should at least cover your neckline and legs with trousers or a skirt, but even if you decide not to do this, you won’t feel sideways glances here.

Opening hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday - days off,
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - from 9:00 to 18:00.

Museums. Which ones are worth visiting?

There are no active museums in Boca Chica at this time.

Parks

Boca Chica is a fairly green city, but rather due to the many palm trees growing along the Caribbean coast.

The city is not rich in parks, but there is still one there.

Boca Chica Central Park (Parque Central)

Located between Calle Duarte and Calle San Raphael, near the Church of Saint Raphael.

Address: Ave Juan Bautista Vicini.

The park has a small well-groomed green area.

You can walk around it all in 10–15 minutes, and if you don’t feel like walking, you can stock up on a book and read it here, sitting on one of the benches.

The scale of the park did not impress me, and is unlikely to impress a resident of the metropolis, but to get a general idea of Boca Chica, I think it’s worth a walk here.

The park also has a small children's playground, so if your hotel area does not have one, it is advisable to bring your child here.

The park is public, so visiting is free. Open 24 hours a day.

Tourist streets

There is only one tourist street in Boca Chica - Duarte street.

As I already said, souvenir shops are concentrated here, you can find a cafe right there, and it’s also just a pleasure to stroll along this street if you suddenly get bored of walking along the coast.

I would say that everything a tourist needs, or almost everything, can be found on Duarte Street.

What to see in 1 day

Let's say that for some reason you only have one day in Boca Chica. What to see and do you have enough time? Boca Chica, as I mentioned at the beginning, is a very small city, and therefore, if you only have one day at your disposal, then this will be enough to see the main attractions of the city.

  1. By 9:00, go to the Church of St. Archangel Raphael, 30 minutes will be enough for you to explore it; I wrote in more detail about the temple above in the corresponding section.
  2. Follow the main street of the Duarte resort, take 15-30 minutes of your time to walk along it, there are cafes and souvenir shops that do not have names, but, nevertheless, from here you can take away some unique souvenir that will be associated with Boca -Chikoy, for example, a painting with views of local landscapes.
  3. Head to the resort's public beach, take a walk along it, and be sure to take a swim in the shallow Caribbean lagoon!
It will take approximately 2 hours.
  4. From the public beach of Boca Chica, swim to the islets of La Matica and Los Pinos, it will take about 20 minutes of continuous swimming to each of the islets.
You can spend another 20 minutes on the islands themselves, so in total you will spend a maximum of 1 hour of your time on these two attractions.
  5. If you get hungry, go back to the public beach, all the cafes are concentrated here.
Perhaps this is all that is worth seeing in Boca Chica. Dedicate the remaining time to a beach holiday. This is the best solution here, because Boca Chica is famous for its excellent beach holidays.

What to see in the area

Santo Domingo (31 km)

You can take a guided tour starting from 30 USD, which can be booked. Or go to Santo Domingo by car or taxi. The journey will take less than 40 minutes.

You can read about what you should definitely see with your own eyes in about Santo Domingo on our website. All I can say is that this place is definitely worth a visit due to its proximity to Boca Chica.

Only after visiting the capital of the republic, you can truly feel the flavor of the country. It is in Santo Domingo that you will see the real Dominican Republic without embellishment.

Nearby Islands

Tired of All inclusive? Do you want romance? Then take a boat tour to the island.

Catalina Island

The place is located some distance from the resort. You can only go to it as part of an excursion group. But don’t waste your money, the island is worth a visit because of its pristine beauty!

The cost of an excursion to the island is 50 USD, you can book it in advance.

A small life hack: You can save 10–15 USD if you buy a beach excursion from the employees of this travel agency. You don’t have to look for them; on the beaches of Boca Chica they will find you themselves. But, if you still need to, you can recognize them by the corresponding inscriptions on the T-shirts. Feel free to bargain for an amount from 5 to 15 USD. A similar excursion with hotel guides will cost about twice as much. They will claim that it is unsafe to take excursions on the beaches, but take my word for it, I have verified it personally: I took excursions both from a hotel guide and in this place - my only regret is that I greatly overpaid for the first one. There are no complaints about safety. The only point: knowledge of at least basic English is desirable, since in “Pedro” they can promise a Russian-speaking guide, and the group can be diverse, then all explanations will be in English, which is quite primitive, but still, if you are completely 0 , then you won’t understand anything.

The price of the excursion includes: transfer to the place, food and drinks upon arrival on the island, as well as a place on the beach.

The excursion to the island lasts all day. You will be picked up from your hotel by a comfortable bus at approximately 9:00 am and transferred back in time for dinner at your hotel.

At the beginning of the excursion, the bus brings you to the port of La Romana; the travel time is about an hour.

The boat covers the distance to Catalina in about 20–30 minutes. I advise you to use sunscreen before boarding the boat, as you may have a seat on the boat where the rays of the scorching sun penetrate.

Before arriving on the island, the boat makes a stop for snorkeling. It lasts approximately 15 minutes. Snorkeling is included in the price of the excursion, but masks may not be enough for everyone, so it is best to bring your own.

Persons from 6 to 17 years old are allowed to snorkel in the presence of adults. Adults over 18 years old without restrictions.

Upon arrival on the island. Catalina will give you a place on the beach and leave you to rest for a couple of hours until lunch is ready.

The beach here is equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, a toilet, a shower, and there are also rescue towers.

You can lie under the shade of a palm tree, enjoying the amazing view, or swim in the sea.

The entrance to the sea is gentle, but the bottom here is rocky in places, so be careful. This is the very moment when I regretted that I did not have special shoes for swimming.

You can also while away the time before lunch in one of the local souvenir shops.
They are located on the beach right behind you.

Here you can buy hats, pareos, magnets, paintings with local landscapes.

Please note that everything here is very expensive. For example, the cost of a painting starts from 50 USD.

After 2 hours of relaxing on the beach, you can go and grab your food from the buffet. To do this, you will have to stand in a long line among tourists. Lunch will take you approximately 1–1.5 hours. It is worth noting that throughout your stay on the island, drinks at the bar can be taken in unlimited quantities. You don't have to wait until lunch for this. You can approach the bar approximately 15 minutes after arrival. The price of the excursion includes water, juices, soda, and various alcoholic drinks, including cocktails.

After lunch, you will be given about another 30-45 minutes to rest and then taken to the hotel in exactly the same way as you were brought to the island.

Food. What to try

In Boca Chica you should try:

Beverages

Food prices

The cost of lunch in a budget cafe starts from 35 USD for two. Traditional dishes still remain pork, rice, legumes, bananas in various ways of preparation.

You can also cool off in Boca Chica ice cream and fruits throughout the year. You can buy here coconut from local merchants on the beach for 2.5–3 USD. When buying 2 coconuts or more, there is a chance to bargain for 1 USD or more.

For travelers who prefer to cook on their own, I recommend going shopping at the supermarket Ole.

I wrote more about the supermarket below in the “Stores” section. Prices for products in this store are at the same level as in Moscow, and sometimes higher. For example, a package of Parmesan cheese weighing 227 g costs around 3 USD, chicken breast - from 4 USD. The only thing that is cheaper there is local fruits: prices start from 0.5 USD per 1 kg of bananas.

Surprisingly, I didn’t see a single market in Boca Chica.

Budget

  1. La Terrazza,
  2. Las Palmeras Cafe,
  3. Parador El Tamarindo,
  4. Buxeda,
  5. Palmares Restaurant.

Mid-level

  1. Pequena Suiza,
  2. Sporting Club,
  3. Bocana Beach Casa Club,
  4. Movida Santo Domingo,
  5. Village on the Beach.

Expensive

There are only 2 gourmet establishments in Boca Chica:

  1. Boca Marina,
  2. Neptuno's Club Restaurant.

Holidays

At the end of summer, Santo Domingo hosts merengue festival. Considering the proximity of the Boca Chica resort to the capital of the Republic, this event cannot but affect it. You won’t find such a scale here as in the capital, but, nevertheless, here at this time it’s a lot of fun on the beaches.

Local residents start dancing to national music. Merengue is a very sensual dance, and there was a period when they even wanted to ban it at the official level, but, fortunately, this was never done. If you wish, you can join the dancers. Merengue is not only dancing, but also songs.

Safety. What to watch out for

Boca Chica is a place where I didn’t feel safe leaving the hotel grounds. The city is very poor, and that says it all. Beggars are often found outside the hotel: both adults and children. They can be found here not only on the street. One day I met a couple with a child in a large supermarket, they begged me to buy diapers for their child. In appearance, they are quite capable adults. It seemed to me that the poor people perceive tourists as walking wallets.

Here they also offer to smoke weed without hesitation. Fortunately, if you refuse, they don’t force you, but it all makes you feel uneasy. I do not recommend girls going here without a male escort. You won’t be able to leave the grounds of your hotel without getting stressed.

Pickpocketing is also rampant in Boca Chica, so never take large sums of money with you, and it’s better to leave your equipment in the hotel safe.

Things to do

Despite the small size of Boca Chica and the claims of many that vacation here is exclusively beach, I am ready to dispel your doubts. You can go fishing, dance at the bar, go diving, or even play golf.

Golf

You can practice this sport absolutely free. To do this you need to go to a place called Tierra Alta Disc Golf Course.

This is the first golf course in the Dominican Republic where anyone can come and play golf absolutely free. And even if you do not have your own equipment for the game, they will also rent it to you for free.

Address:Calle Caracol no. 500.

Opening hours: The golf course is open from Tuesday to Saturday - from 7:30 to 15:00, Sunday and Monday - closed days. But advance online booking is required. This can be done.

You can also reserve breakfast or lunch at the on-site cafeteria. The approximate cost of breakfast is 5 USD (225 DOP), lunch - 7 USD (335 DOP). Breakfast is served at 7:30, lunch at 12:30. Payment can be made in local currency upon delivery in the cafeteria.

I advise you to save money and eat at your own hotel, but as an entertainment this place is well worth a try.

Diving

You can go diving at one of the schools located on the beach along the entire coast. Classes are taught by experienced instructors. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is not a single Russian-speaking instructor in Boca Chica. Therefore, to go diving, you must know English, and ideally Spanish.

I have described the list of schools and which one, in my opinion, is more suitable, below in the corresponding section.

Shopping and shops

Boca Chica does not have large malls or outlets. Here you will not find stores with branded items. But on Duarte Street, the main street of Boca Chica, you can buy something unique. This street, although small, is replete with an abundance of small souvenir shops. Here you can buy local jewelry starting from 7 USD, magnets for 5 USD, souvenir plates starting from 7 USD, and even get swimming trunks in case you forgot yours (priced from 10 USD).

If you want local fruit, you should head to the Ole supermarket.

Opening hours: 8:00–22:00.

Ask about the fastest way to get there at your hotel reception.

Here you can get ripe and juicy mangoes at a ridiculous price of 0.5 USD per piece.

Prices in the supermarket are presented in pesos (DPO), the American dollar is not always accepted for payment, so change your money to local currency in advance. This can be done both at the hotel and at the bank. The bank rate is more favorable. For example, there for 100 USD you will get approximately 4,600 DOP, and at a hotel it is at least 100 DOP less. At first glance, it seems that the difference is insignificant, but with the amount saved you can buy several mangoes.

If you are used to shopping big, go to the capital's shopping centers.

Bars. Where to go

If you find yourself in Boca Chica, I recommend paying attention to the bar Latino by Philippe on Duarte street.

This is the only bar that deserves attention according to TripAdvisor, and I completely agree with that. open to visitors daily from 21:00 to 02:00.

The owner of the establishment, Philip, is a very friendly and welcoming person. He will do everything to make sure you have fun in his bar. Here you can dance to the fiery rhythms of salsa and bachatta. You can meet both tourists and locals at the bar. Prices - from 7 USD per cocktail. This establishment is perfect if you are bored with a beach holiday and want a little fun.

Casino

I won't send you to any nightclub in Boca Chica. Here you can spend your leisure time more interestingly. Try yourself in a casino; it is officially allowed in the Dominican Republic. To do this, head to the Be Live Hamaka Hotel.

Kviar Casino Hamaca- a great place to try your luck. Blackjack, roulette, and slot machines are available here. Just don’t take large sums with you, the probability of losing is quite high.

The casino is open daily from 20:00 to 04:00. Here you can meet people of different ages, both tourists and locals gather. The casino has its own security service, so you don’t have to worry about security. The staff is friendly and polite. Here players are provided with good quality booze for free.

Caribbean Divers.

Address: Duarte street, 44.

The establishment is located near the public beach of Boca Chica (Playa Publica Boca Chica) and has a very memorable logo, which you will hardly be able to pass by:

And here it is on the map:

The price for a dive starts from 45 USD, 5 dives will cost 200 USD, there is the possibility of a night dive, in this case 20 USD is added to the initial cost. Equipment rental is included in the price.

The company also provides various courses starting from 140 USD. The diving school is open daily from 8:00 to 17:00. More detailed information can be found on the company. I especially recommend this place to those who speak Spanish. Lessons are also taught in English, but sometimes there is a language barrier.

For persons from 16 to 18 years of age, classes are possible in the presence of adults, from 18 years of age without restrictions.

  1. Other good diving schools include:
  2. Tropical Sea Diving,
  3. Ocean Diving,,
  4. Treasure Divers.

Neptuno Dive Center Important:

Please note that not a single school will provide you with classes in Russian. Training takes place mainly in Spanish and English, sometimes French. You can dive if you know at least English, otherwise it may be unsafe, as there is a risk of not understanding the instructor.

Sailing

There is sailing in Boca Chica. You may think that there is no extreme in this activity. But I hasten to disagree with you. It is at this resort that you can feel like a real captain! CompanyS ailing DR

Training takes place under the guidance of a captain with 20 years of experience. A practical sailing course will cost 400 USD. More detailed prices and information about the company can be found.

Classes are possible from 18 years of age.

Souvenirs. What to bring as a gift

Since Boca Chica is located in close proximity to the capital of the Dominican Republic, all the same souvenirs are available here as in the capital of the country.

This may seem strange to you, but in Boca Chica I will send you to a regular supermarket to buy souvenirs. Head to Ole to shop for inexpensive gifts to commemorate your trip to the Dominican Republic. It is worth bringing from Boca Chica as a gift:

How to get around the city

There are 3 ways to get around Boca Chica and its surroundings:

  1. Taxi is an expensive but safe transport.
  2. Rented car.
  3. Buses are a cheap but unsafe way to travel.

There are no metro or trams in the city. Below in the relevant sections I will talk in more detail about each of the listed types of transport.

Taxi. What features exist

A taxi ride from the airport to the center of Boca Chica will take approximately 20 minutes and cost from 25 USD. A taxi ride from Boca Chica to the capital of the Dominican Republic will take approximately 40 minutes and cost from 35 USD. If you decide to go to, the journey will take about 3 hours and will cost you 140 USD one way.

You can pay for a taxi in cash either in US dollars or in Dominican pesos. If you decide to pay in US currency, prepare the amount in advance without change. If you do not do this, you will receive change in local currency at a not very favorable rate.

Taxi stands are located in close proximity to the hotels.
Taxi prices are fixed and indicated at the counter. There's not much point in haggling, but if you're very good at it, you can give it a try.

Buses

Buses are quite convenient transport for moving around the city and beyond. And also the most inexpensive way to travel around the country. As for safety, you won’t have to feel it here. You will be amazed by the driving culture in the Dominican Republic and will remember minibuses in Russia with lust.

However, this method will save a lot of money. A trip to Boca Chica will cost 1.5–2 USD. A trip to the capital of the Dominican Republic will cost about 7 USD. You can even travel by bus over fairly long distances, for example, to Punta Cana, and the amount of your trip will not exceed 15 USD, but you will have to spend 3.5–4 hours on the bus.

Air conditioning on buses often works at full capacity, so when planning a bus trip, stock up on warm clothes.

For information about bus schedules and stops, please contact local residents. Since buses in Boca Chica are the way locals travel, taxis are more popular among tourists.

Transport rental

In Boca Chica you will not find rental offices of famous companies. You also won't find rental companies offering full insurance here. Therefore, the most convenient and safest way is to rent a car at Las Americas Airport.

To rent a car you must have an international license, a credit card, and you must be at least 25 years old.

Rental prices start from 55 USD per day for an economy class car.
The cost of gasoline in Boca Chica starts from 2 USD per 1 liter.

Traffic on the roads of Boca Chica is very busy; local drivers do not comply with the speed limit and violate all legal traffic rules. You should be an extremely careful driver on city roads.

It is better to always let local motorists pass. In the event of an accident, the police will always be on the side of the local population.

Boca Chica - holidays with children

Boca Chica can be an excellent option when choosing a holiday destination with children. The resort is famous for its sandy beaches with a blue lagoon. And the depth of the lagoon in the most remote places does not exceed one and a half meters.
Here you can rest assured about the safety of your child near the water.

Its undoubted advantage is that a holiday in Boca Chica requires much less financial costs than in the capital or the popular tourist region of Punta Cana.

The Dominican Republic itself is washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean from the north, and the Caribbean Sea is already located in the south. Since Boca Chica is located on the southern point of the island, it is washed by warm waters Caribbean Sea.

The Caribbean Sea, by the way, is much warmer and calmer than the Atlantic Ocean in terms of waves.

The resort is called "big bathroom" due to the fact that it is surrounded on all sides by coral reefs, which prevent large waves from approaching.

Top hotels

Dominican Republic hotels are designed for any category of vacationers- from simple three-star hotels with a minimum set of amenities to luxury hotels with maximum comfort. By the way, the price of hotel rooms does not depend on the location of the hotel itself - whether it is on the beach or in the central part of the resort.

The price of accommodation in Boca Chica hotels is affected only by the range of services and the star rating of the hotel.

The delights of vacation - photos

A holiday in this Dominican resort is an excellent opportunity to soak up the white sandy beaches and explore everything connected with the history of this city.

Beach holidays and entertainment

Beach holiday – main advantage Boca Chica. The main beach has the same name as the city - Boca Chica. It occupies almost the entire coastline within the city.

The beach is equipped with changing cabins and showers, and umbrellas and sun loungers are provided free of charge.

The sand on the beach is fine and white, the entrance to the sea is smooth and gentle, which makes it an excellent holiday option for families with children. True, on the beach you can sometimes meet stray dogs, which are fed by the tourists themselves. If you do not consider yourself an animal lover, you should choose beaches away from the central one.

A little west of the city beach is "Andres"– a real paradise for lovers of yachting and sailing. Sailing through the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea will be the most amazing experience. If anyone is not yet familiar with this type of entertainment, there is a sailing school here.

This beach is less crowded, but people prefer to relax here local residents, so that should also be taken into account. There are no sunbeds here, but there are wooden chairs where you can rest. There are no changing cabins or showers on this beach.

Beach "Karibe" famous for its waves - this is where fans of “catch a wave” gather. Many arrive here with their own equipment (from nearby regions). For those who come light, there is a rental point for special equipment.

The city is perfect for those who like noisy nightlife and beach activities. Open-air beach parties are very popular, where you can have a great time in the company of friends to the sounds of fiery salsa or other Caribbean music. Numerous bars and discos on the coast will add “spice” to your relaxing holiday.

Punta Cana or Boca Chica – which is better?

Each resort has its own characteristics and advantages. Boca Chica is located in the south of the Dominican Republic, unlike Punta Cana, and the sea here is much warmer and calmer. That’s why families traveling with small children find the Boca Chica resort so attractive - the beaches here are much more calmer and safer.

In respect of financial costs for vacation, Boca Chica is also preferable for tourists: prices here are much lower than in the more popular resort of Punta Cana, and the attractions and beaches are not inferior to other resort towns.

But if Punta Cana is a truly tourist area, where the entire infrastructure is aimed at developing the tourism business and any desire of tourists is immediately satisfied (of course, for an additional fee), then Boca Chica is in this regard more simple.

Hotels and inns in Boca Chica are adjacent to ordinary residential buildings, and instead of a quiet walk around the hotel grounds, tourists stroll along the most ordinary street with houses, shops and catering establishments “for their own”.

In Boca Chica you can feel the atmosphere of the city much better by immersing yourself in it.

What to see?

Since the history of Boca Chica as a resort very short(the city began to develop only in the 60s of the 20th century, and before that it was just a quiet fishing village), then there are no such people in the city. But excursion and travel agencies offer resort guests all the opportunities for recreation, in particular, visiting nearby resort places and areas.

Those who miss the Russian language can book a walk with Russians or a Russian-speaking guide.

Excursions to architectural landmarks

  1. San Pedro de Macoris– another interesting place for guests of the island (located 30 km from Boca Chica). There is a sugar factory here and on a tour you can observe with your own eyes the process of turning sugar cane into a sweet delicacy.
  2. Fishing village of Guayacanes located near Boca Chica. Here you can fully experience the local atmosphere and observe the life and way of life of the local residents.
  3. Church of St. Archangel Raphael- the only church building in the city. The temple is a simple white one-story building with a red roof. Inside, the decoration is quite simple: there is no gilding or luxury, the walls are ordinary, without paintings.

The temple is open all days except Monday and Wednesday (these are weekends), from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visiting the church is free.

Natural beauty and other adventures

The cost of the dive is negotiated individually (independent diving or with an instructor-guide).

Note to tourists

  1. It should be kept in mind that English Not everyone speaks (and even more so Russian) language; some employees of hotels and official institutions can speak it more or less passably. So you’ll have to take a Russian-Spanish phrasebook with you on your trip or learn a dozen common phrases.
  2. Boca Chica is a place where you can not only feel the atmosphere of the Caribbean region, but also a place where you should be especially careful about your wallet and pockets - theft is very common here. Therefore, it is better to leave especially important documents and valuables in the hotel safe.
  3. Russian money It is quite difficult to exchange here, so before your trip it is better to take care in advance to exchange rubles for American dollars. Both dollars and Dominican pesos are used in Boca Chica, and you can easily pay with them or exchange them for local currency.
