Trails
“Ski circus” is the name given to the slopes that surround the resort like an amphitheater. The variety of ski slopes pleases: gentle, smooth slopes intersect with steep, dizzying ones. All slopes are connected by a system of lifts into a single ski area. Moreover, you can cross the valley in the areas of Hinterglemm-Koing and Saalbach-Vorderglemm without taking off your skis. This allows you to alternate different slopes throughout the day depending on the time of day and snow conditions.
It is better to start skiing from the northern slope; in the morning it is illuminated first. From Saalbach we go to Mount Burnkogel (1740 m) and move, then descending back into the valley, then rising to the peaks, towards the Spieleckkogel peak (1996 m). A special feature of the area is the long blue trails 46, 34, 27. They are very pleasant for beginners and intermediate skiers and allow you to either go down into the valley itself (1000 m above sea level) or climb to altitudes of 2000 m. Red trails 24, 33, 35, 36 are shorter and allow you to quickly cross the slope. In the afternoon, when the sun goes away from here, it is better to move to the south side.
The southern slope (Zwolfer-Schattberg) offers much longer and more challenging runs. Steep, sometimes steep and icy, Route 14 is perhaps the most difficult in the entire Salzburgerland region. The same long and steep black route 1 (difference 1200 m, length 7 km) is always covered with soft snow and, accordingly, is more comfortable. An interesting short route is 13a, where the Alpine Ski World Cup competitions take place. The stunning steep moguls on Route 7 will scare even the toughest skier. Long red-blue routes 2, 13, 16 will allow you to calmly cross the slope and, having closed the circle, return to Saalbach.
Somewhat isolated, although connected by trails to the main area, is the Kohlmaiskopf-Wildenkarkogel mountain region. It is dominated by very soft blue runs that run through beautiful wooded areas. Most of the region's trails are also suitable for snowboarders. The half-pipe (Bernkogel mountain) in Saalbach meets world standards (80 m). Hinterglemm has an illuminated fun park with a variety of jumping hills.

Where to stay?
Hotels in Saalbach and Hinterglemm are very diverse in price and star rating. For fans of active nightlife, discos and restaurants, it would be better to stay in Saalbach. In the evenings the city center turns into one big “party”.
Hinterglemm is a quieter place, however, there are also restaurants and cafes here. An important advantage of Hinterglemm is the proximity of the Glemmtal valley with its varied slopes.

Among the best, according to tourist reviews, is Theresia Gartenhotel. High level of service, while maintaining democracy and home comfort. The friendly and helpful staff, as well as the hostess herself, will make your stay unforgettable.
The hotel has equipment rental, a school for beginner skiers, an excellent SPA system with a Sauna World for adults and a Children's Club. It’s worth mentioning separately about the restaurant: the food is varied, tasty and, especially for aesthetes, beautiful. The bus stop is located right in front of the entrance. Prices are also reasonable and fully reflect the quality of service.
Trails, slopes, lifts
Skiers have 124 trails at their disposal, with a length of more than 200 km. More than half of them are great for those who are learning to ski or have recently mastered this sport, as well as for children. However, fans of steep slopes and speed skating will also not be bored here.
Saalbach-Hinterglemm is equipped with 60 lifts, including rope tows and cable cars. There are also winter hiking trails, three toboggan runs, a park for snowboarders, and half-pipes.
If we talk about skiing, it is better to first get used to the northern slopes, which are most illuminated by the sun throughout the day.
The highlight of the resort is also located here – the longest “blue” slopes.
The southern slopes are more shady and do not experience any problems with snow; they are steeper and more picturesque. Here is the most extreme route of the resort – Nordabfahrt.
Snowboarders will enjoy illuminated parks with jumps that meet international standards, as well as the opportunity for off-piste skiing.
